This is the second time I have stayed here. I was part of a group, some of whom had been up to four times. There is nothing to fault. Location ideal, clean, comfortable, everything excellent. The owners are charming, and very helpful on where to walk, and eat. Will definitely visit again.

My boyfriend and I spent 5 days here in September. it was one of our better decisions. Angel and his wife run a sumptuous lovely little b and b that is also environmentally conscious. Waking up in the morning to a balcony overlooking verdant hills and following the nose to fresh coffee and a delicious breakfast was a great way...

This friendly family-run hotel is located in Alajar; a very pretty village in the rolling hills of the Sierra Morena. Being located in a National Park means that this area is unspoiled; the local rural economy is based on pigs, bulls, cork oak and chestnuts. Lucy and Angel are really helpful when it comes to choosing walks in the area,...

The Posada is in a quiet and beautiful place surrounded by nature. The place is also very ecological since I learn that they have invested in heating and cooling with a geothermal installation. Don't forget to ask to see it if you are interested in alternative energy. The staff is very friendly - you can really feel disconnected from the...

Hi Miguel, Thanks very much for your review, we really appreciate it. However you are actually referring to our sister hotel La Posada de San Marcos which is also in Alájar. The facility is comfortable, peaceful, on the edge of the village, easy access to the whole town. The food is fresh, tasty, and seasonal with much of it from the garden and the rest locally supplied. The outdoor area is convenient for small conferences and meetings and banquet.

Nice rooms, a garden with pool and resident Nightingale serenading our al fresco dinners ( delicious!). Lucy and Angel are great hosts - friendly and informative. Try Angels olive oil , sherry and Iberian ham tasting - delicious and very interesting. Alajar village is also wonderful and felt like a cool paradise after braving Sevilla in 43 degrees! We stayed here for two nights while on a walking holiday. It is a no frills hotel but everything worked as it should and our room was clean and comfortable. We were invited to use the swimming pool at the Posada San Marco nearby which also had a garden where we could relax. We particularly enjoyed watching Angel lovingly carving...

We stayed in La Posada de SanMarco for 3 nights whilst on a walking holiday with friends. We found extremely helpful, friendly and polite people, who serve only local produce. The area around is very good for walking, either prearranged or with excellent advice from Angelo and Lucy. I would recommend a stay here in this lovely, quiet Spanish village.

It is always with some trepidation when you arrive at a hotel in an area you know nothing about, having 'found'the hotel online. We needn't have worried. The village of Alajar is a gem and La Posada was super. I would definitely recommend it to friends, it is a no frills hotel but the price reflect that, it has a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Enjoy a wonderful stay in a special part of the Natural Park Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche at Las Posadas in Alájar providing low impact, environmentally friendly accommodation within a natural park along with invaluable help and advice from your hosts Lucy and Ángel. La Posada de Alajar is a small, historical Anglo-Spanish run posada (small rural hotel) in Alajar, Sierra de Aracena, Andalusia. The posada offers the perfect accommodation for walking touring and bird watching holidays in one of the few unspoilt areas remaining in Andalusia. Centrally located by the village square with its restaurants, bars and shops everything is close to hand. Cosy rooms, cheerfully decorated, ensure an enjoyable and comfortable holiday. The nearby historical city of Seville and the Portuguese border is little over an hour away so our posada is the perfect base to explore this beautiful corner of Spain. Alternatively you can stay at our sister hotel La Posada de San Marcos, where the only sound you will hear is the breeze in the cork oak trees, the babbling of the stream, birdsong and crickets. The view towards the oak clad hill behind us or towards the village and the Peña beyond provide the perfect backdrop from your room terrace or the gardens. The perfect opportunity to experience an environmentally friendly, energy efficient hotel with a superior level of accommodation and disabled access. Relax in our garden and if it gets too warm plunge into our 12 metre pool to cool off or take some exercise. The pool and gardens is available to guests staying at La Posada de Alájar. ... more   less
