We stayed here for two nights at the end of our two week trip to kerala (two adults, two kids) for some rest and relaxation.

First impressions are stunning - the resort is beautifully laid out with wonderful grounds, a lovely pool and lots of waterways and walkways and you are greeted wtih a fresh coconut to drink on arrival. the resort is a short walk to the beach though they advise not to swim because of the currents. there was also a little jeep to drive you around the resort if you wanted. it was all beautifully landscaped with lots of hammocks under trees to sit and relax in.

we had two rooms with balconies overlooking the lake. Wonderful decor and huge bathrooms with a jacuzzi (though you have to call 2hrs in advance to have this filled, and not all the jets worked, possibly due to visible limescale, but still a lovely and unique feature). They brought up welcome snacks which was also a nice touch.

The resort is large in size with few guests, so it did feel empty ie we were often the only ones at the pool. We were told people use the spa a lot (it's huge and they let us use a treatment room there to freshen up on our last day as we had an evening train ride back to Calicut which was much appreciated) and do activities (we took kayaks down the river and then up to the beach which was good fun). There is also a large games room to use and a gym though I never saw anyone in it!

We had some issues with our a la carte dinner our first night in terms of service and being vastly overcharged for bottled water (INR600). the meal itself was very expensive and so was the buffet we had on the second night (we had expected the resort to be pricey and you are a captive audience) but even so, compared with other places we'd stayed in like the Taj in Ooty over Xmas, it did feel pricey, especially when you then add tax ON TOP (which in all our other hotels had been included in the price). We did talk to the helpful team at reception and Tania came to talk to us about it and handled the situation brilliantly and looked after us really well for the rest of our stay which was much appreciated. In this respect, the hotel excelled. they also prepared a bag of sandwiches, fruit and drinks for our train journey to calicut which was much appreciated.

This is a beautiful resort with some fabulous service. Some minor tweaks would make it even better. We would definitely stay here again

Overall this is a great hotel. The setting and the grounds are very pretty - lots of greenery and different plants and flowers. We stayed for 2 nights in January 2020 (2 adults and 2 teens).

Our room was very large, nicely decorated and clean. It overlooked the lake in front of the hotel. The bathroom was also very large and clean. The bathrooms contain a jacuzzi which takes at least 2 hours to fill with tepid water. The jacuzzi would benefit from a deep clean.

The pool are was lovely - lots of sunbeds and umbrellas. The pool is very nice and it was very quiet despite the hotel being full.

You can go kayaking on the river, walk to the beach (which is gorgeous), play snooker. We would like to have somewhere to sit after dinner that wasn't reception or the activity room.

Staff at reception were very helpful and friendly.

The food in the restaurant was generally good but incredibly expensive. It was generally about 5 times the price of food in most restaurants (about INR 800 + tax + service for an aloo gobi) and about 3 times the price of any other hotel restaurants we ate in on our trip. We had 'a la Carte' one night (which took ages to be made and served) and the hotel buffet on the other night (INR 1800 per person + tax + service). We had an issue with the cost of bottled water in the restaurant because they only told us the price (approx INR 600 per bottle!!!!) at the end of the meal when we got the bill and we expected it to be more like INR 60 per bottle. This was annoying but they dealt with our complaint very well.

They gave us a packed meal on departure as we had a long journey ahead of us which was much appreciated.

Full credit and thanks to Tania in the restaurant for taking care of us.

I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed for five nights in February when the hotel was quite empty. The location is quite remote and very tranquil. The grounds are extensive and beautifully landscaped, with access to a quiet beach nearby (no loungers or service, though) and a calm backwater for kayaking. There is an auto rickshaw stand a few minutes walk away in the small hamlet if you want to travel locally and don't have your own transport.
There are less than 40 suites and they are all very spacious and comfortably furnished. The foyer has a large dressing area, and the huge bathroom has a great walk in shower, and a private jaccuzzi, although you need to advise them a few hours in advance if you want to use it as it takes ages to fill - we didn't bother. The bed was big and comfortable, and there was a nice sitting area, and a large balcony with great views. Cleaning was pretty efficient, and towels. toiletries, water etc replenished frequently. Lighting was ambiant, but the controls very fiddly and could be improved.
There is only one restaurant with a fairly limited menu for vegetarians. We didn't think the food was fantastic - not bad, some quite good, but not what you'd expect from a 5 star resort. We went over to the Taj a few times for excellent dinners. The breakfast buffet, again, adequate but not exceptional, and some days it was á la carte due to low occupancy. The bar was a real disappointment. The terrace in front is a nice place to relax, but no pre-dinner cocktails here, only beer and wine are available.
I did love the pool, however, and used it almost every day. It's a decent size and the water is warm and clear. I'd prefer if it wasn't quite so shallow, as a deeper end would make for better swimming.
We went to the spa a couple of times for massages and steam, and the staff were excellent, although prices were a bit steep (as to be expected in a high end resort). The gym was adequate, and some faulty equipment was repaired when we started to use the gym.
The staff were lovely and helpful, and did their best to please and spoil you. Overall, a very relaxing stay.

Took a long journey to celebrate my wife's birthday at Lalit resort and spa Bekal.
The stupendous hospitality starts as soon as you enter, when you are welcomed by the ever charming and beautifully smiling faces of the front desk ladies ( Neetu, Bindu and Sreeja) . They welcome you with a sandal Teeka to your forehead and tender coconut. They patiently explain the services and the amenities of the property and guide you to your room and check with us if we are settled. Everytime you meander to the reception area they run to and check if we need any help and smile profusely.

The Nombili restaurant inside the property serves some of the best ethnic food in the region. The sumptuous breakfast buffet was excellent. Even the service staff in the restaurant are excellent and hospitable.

The Rejuve Spa is also an experience not to be missed. We had a fusion massage and it was nothing live we have experienced before. Aravind and Abhira were excellent.

Even the guards around the property are always welcoming with a smile and inquiring if we need any help.

Overall the property is uber scenic , be it the river or the beach and the lush greenery in the property. The locale is oozing with hospitality in every corner.

Thanks to the entire staff for making this a very memorable trip for us. We will surely visit again :).

This was my second visit to this property. Last year I visited during Monsoon. I suggest please avoid traveling during Summer as the weather is really hot and humid. Let's start with the positives

Nice resort, well maintained and the location is accessible
Rooms are neat and clean, maintained well
The lagoon view early morning and evening is pleasant
Private beach accessible
Backwaters within the premises
The restaurant staff was very courteous and helpful
Kayaking was good. Staff helpful

No so-welcoming points

On arrival, cold towels are not provided which to me seems a little awkward. During my last trip, I suggested but it's not been implemented yet.
Washroom there is no air circulation and it gets extremely hot and uncomfortable.
Staff responsiveness at the front desk needs to be improved a lot. I have to call at least three times for any service requests and every time I call the person used to ask for my room number!
While checking out I was surprised to see a posting of 2000 rupees for cab usage which was never used. Later they said by mistake it was posted to your room. Really can we call it just a mistake? I believe staff needs to be a little more sincere and responsible towards their duties.
The restaurant buffet spread was very limited, with not many variations between meals. Just a suggestion, please have more options and include live counters, no ice cream for desserts(that too in summer)
Evenings should have some engagement activities for the guests.
The beach was extremely dirty. Not manned at all. I believe it can be developed considering its a private beach. Shakhs, umbrellas, restaurant etc can be planned

Overall, it was a nice stay. I will certainly consider visiting again. But improvements are required

This resort is one of two luxury properties located olong the Bekal backwaters and beachside. Located within 500 mtrs of the beach and running along a backwater river called Nombili it makes for a idyllic setting and great location to relax and unwind with nature. The rooms are very spacious with all rooms coming with an in-room jacuzzi and elegant spacious bathrooms, balconies that face the backwater or the gardens, and large rooms. The property within its 20 acres of so has a pool, gym, games room and plenty of tracks, gardens and walk ways for jogging, strolling or bird watching. The breakfast (complimentary) is also quality and has a good variety and spread. All in all I would highly recommend this property to spend a night or two at Bekal. For more eating options one could drive to Udma town or Kasaragod city which is 20 mins away and has a lot of eating and shopping options. Of course, Bekal fort itself is a must visit as its well maintained and rich in history. It's about a 15 mins drive from this resort.
The beach adjoining the property isn't the cleanest I've visited although its on such a beautiful setting its sad that people have dumped stuff that can be seen floating around on the sand or shores. I would urge if the property could gather its staff once in 15 days or a month to conduct a cleanliness drive of the beach. That's my only suggestion !

I stayed here for a few days to recharge and on first impressions, I loved the hotel decor and surroundings and felt relaxed. The room was lovely and spacious, with a great view and balcony, as well as a big bathroom and dressing area. The hotel grounds are lovely and well maintained with water features and the walk through grounds to the beach was stunning. The spa is lovely and I have to mention Akhil who was very friendly, helpful and relaxing - he really made me feel at ease and I enjoyed the treatments there - highly recommend.

There were however a few issues that I had at the hotel and although the staff tried to resolve it, it didn't quite meet expectations and I think the main issue is that the service, although everyone is lovely, is not of 5 star standard and that there is a breakdown in communication across all the teams in the hotel. I would also say that the whirlpool bath, as lovely as it is, is cold and not of the standard that it should be, decor and temperature wise and the staff did not brief me on how this worked and then on several occasions I had to turn off the water myself to stop my bathroom flooding. Given the poor service around this and other issues, I would not pay for this hotel again as a five star hotel and would rather go back to the Taj in Bekal where I have been previously and loved it.

For a spa titled resort, adequate attention has to be given to spa ofcourse. The masseuse had no idea what she was doing and just rushed through the whole thing. I had to end it halfway through because of how bad it was. All the staff could do was give a 10% discount because I didn’t like it. Whilst, I appreciate the gesture but they should really take care of guest experience and not with a discount. We stayed at the resort for two days, the room and service were adequate.

Our visit to Bekal fort was long due, so we decided we will go ahead this month as the weather would be good in July, beginning of monsoon. So we zeroed in on Lalit Bekal for the stay. We booked a deluxe lagoon view for a day.
Pros:We were welcomed with an arati and a sandalwood teeka.
Tender coconut was served as welcome drink which was very refreshing.
Room was huge with balcony which overlooked a small water body.
Bathroom was huge too with a jacuzzi. Property is well maintained with a small river flowing through the property.
Cons:Their check in time is 2 pm, so though we reached the property by 12.30,they were very very adamant and gave the room that too after repeated reminders only by 2.15 pm.I think some lenience could have been given.
Balcony of the lagoon view has no privacy as they overlook the reception area, so all you can see is cars and people buzzing in and out.
Restaurant rates are quite overly priced, also better to check the billing details as we were billed wrong but they were not ready to admit it, hence had to keep the menu card with pricing in hand and convince them.
Coming to jacuzzi, it never worked, even after repeated reminders no one came to repair, so you know how it feels😔😔
There is a small bridge connecting d property to the beach, but that never functioned so we couldn't access the beach from d property.
Overall its a beautiful property but they have some issues with the services, even the courteousness is lacking i felt, i think the management has to take a serious note if it
they want to retain the NAME..

Was there with family during new year, 2021. There are lots of things to like about the place like:
1) It’s a beautiful, large property with plenty of open area. It’s walkable to beach and back waters and there are plenty of lagoons around.Kayaking inside property is a great experience.
2) Rooms and specially the bathroom with Jacuzzi are very good. The sit out outside is perfect to soak in classic Kerala landscape.
3 ) Service is quite good and well intentioned. The management is hands on and visible most times.

Few things which I would have liked more are:
1) Varied food options specially more local options. There was only one restaurant working and pool bar was ridiculously priced even by five star standards.
2) Lighting in room was less specially if you want to read. TV was working of standard definition which I haven’t seen in any place if many years now.
3) bridge to the beach was broken and needed fixing . Though this could be due to cyclone.

Hi, Had originally booked in Taj, however did not get a confirmation and had to shift to Lalit. Our experience with Lalit was very good and the property is large enough for you to spend quality time with the family. Lot of outdoor activities including exposure to a beach and river. Food is expensive though and you might want to get it included in the package. We enjoyed our stay at the Lalit - Bekal.
