You honestly can't beat the location - absolutely beachfront & a beautiful beach at that too. But given the price I had much higher expectations for the condition of the room and the overall cleanliness. If you can overlook floors that look in need of a serious clean and dubious kitchen equipment, give it a go. Me, I'll try somewhere...

My auntie recommended this motel and what a lovely place to start of our trip around New Zealand. Absolutely perfect setting. My uncle had said the manager was laid back but that was fine and she was very obliging when I rang to say we would be late arriving. It's a great location to relax and explore. We went on...

The location is perfect if you want to be right on the beach. Beautiful! The owner Jackie was very helpful. Her dog Riptide was a hit with the kids too. Free use of kayaks was fun, plus boogie boards. Closest supermarket at Coopers beach is 5 minute drive, and the dairy is 3 minute walk. We went peak season which...

Great location right on the beach, lovely spot to sit and watch the sunset. Promises were never fulfilled by staff even though they were friendly. Chairs in the room were full of dust, no fly screens on the doors, tv was minuscule and the worst 1 ply toilet paper. All of this would have been acceptable if it were half...

Beautiful view from our room. Clean and tidy unit. Very friendly and helpful owner/manager. Less than 10 minutes to Mangonui, definitely recommend "The Thai" takeaways from there, if you want a tasty meal. Highly recommend this Place to stay.

Called in late in the afternoon. What a great location right on the beach. tidy room with everything needed. Really enjoyed sitting on the deck with a glass of wine at sunset. Comfortable bed and no traffic noise although the highway was behind us.

The motel is located across the road from a beautiful beach with golden sand, alongside a playground which is ideal for young children. The motel itself is old and tired, but this is forgivable as the location is idyllic. The bed is comfortable, the shower pressure is good, the kitchen area is basic and the floor is painted concrete. Couldn't have picked a more beautiful place. The welcome was warm and friendly. The bed's were comfy and warm. The shower head might need descaling as the flow was poor and maybe heater with a fan might be better, But wifi was good and these things wouldn't stop me staying there again.

The devine setting - private yet beside the beautiful golden sand beach is hard to beat. Especially on a warm sunny winters day. Stayed 2 nights in a studio which was very comfortable, spotless and full of love. Beautiful and stunning view from the studio and terrace. Hosts were very welcoming as was their dog 'Riptide'. Riptide and the hosts...

We turned up at Driftwood after our original motel was hit by a power problem. Jackie was very kind in taking us in at short notice. What a place, right on the beach. The rooms were very clean, in fact gave us everything we needed after a long drive. We sat on the decking watching the sun go down drinking...
