Uncle who owns the guest house is also running the same and is an excellent host. Rooms are big and spacious. They are clean and offer a great outdoor atmosphere. Heritage building. Green residential area in the middle of the city.

USP: The only USP of this hotel is it's location. It is just about 1.2 kms from the Dehradun railway station & the Dehradun to Mussorie Bus stand, which makes it a good place to use as a transit halt.
Rooms and toilets: I WOULD ADVICE ALL TO ENSURE PROPER WRITTEN COMMUNICATION IF YOU ARE PHONE BOOKING. I did booking through phone & I was told by the owner that the room (1-bedded) had ATTACHED toilet. But after I landed there, I came to know that the 1-bedded room was not attached with a toilet. Fortunately, it was not a very big deal for me as I was traveling alone. Room was OK in terms of cleanliness. But I was a bit disappointed about the lack of proper communication. I checked in at 6:45 AM on day 1 and checked out at 5:30 AM on day 2. Technically, I was liable to pay for a day and half charges AND the owner was also very quick to ask for it. I did not mind the rule book shown to me, but the rule book for the service by the hotel didn't exist. Only a jug of water was what I got, that too after insisting. No soaps, no towel. In terms of service, the people will be ready to serve you as long a you are ready to shell out tips. They give you room service. Food and tea is served in the rooms. Once they recognize you don't tip much, they will stop doing service for you. I was hit by this attitude. On day 2, I had to leave early at 5:30 AM and thus had asked the room boys to keep the geyser ON (since it was a common bathroom). The geyser was ON but there was no water in the tap on the next day. I had to go downstairs in another common bathroom and surprisingly got good hot water there.
I would recommend this hotel only for those who don't mind these things or those who are going to travel exclusively and just look out for a sleeping place at night. The sleep quality is absolutely good. No doubts in it. This is a good option if you are tight on you budget too. The charges are quite economical. But for those you are traveling with family, look to have a pleasant stay, who are not budget tight can try and look for some other options in Dehradun.

I stayed here for three nights and overall had quite a poor experience. Let me start with the positives; the food (had breakfast each morning and dinner one evening) is quite good and tasty and arrives fairly quickly after ordering. They also had a laundry service which was decent and efficient, as well as cheap. However, there the positives stop. The room was extremely cold and simple and not very pleasant; the bathroom is cramped and the warm water never worked once. It was not even possible to close the top-windows entirely so the cold crept into the rooms. As it was raining heavily this period the room got even colder and there was no radiator at all. Beds were rock-hard and the sheets weren't very clean. The Wi-Fi was decent though. The great disappointment was on check-out they tried to charge me for a room costing Rs. 600 more than I had booked through www.booking.com They made up some nonsence about giving me a better room than I had booked but never informed me of this alleged decision or told me that it would cost more. I think they just tried to scam me off an extra Rs 600, but I refused. At doing so they all became quite rude and arrogant, in particular the owner. Overall the service was quite poor and they never once asked if I was having a nice stay or felt comfortable, one could expect them to put in a minimum of effort to make their guests feel at home. Would not recommend this place to anyone, unless you're on an extremely tight budget. You get what you pay for... In fact I moved hotels the last night in Dehradun just to get warm and be able to have a hot shower and some comfort.

I just love Lakshmi Guest House, it is so friendly, the owners are on the spot, their workers, waiters and guardsmen are great help for anything you want. So much kindness in just one place, typical India! The rooms are spacious and very clean, breakfast is amazing, ask for what you want and you will not be disappointed. I will recommend this guesthouse to all my friends, in India and abroad. You can also share a good laugh with anyone working here. I had a 3am train to catch and was driven to the station by a staff member on his bike, I will never forget his dignity when I offered money for petrol: "No Mam, you are my guest". Well done, Lakshmi, well done for the management! Please visit the hillstation Mussorie, nearby, you can go by shared taxi at a very reasonable price. Mariana Amar

Location: The hotel is just five minutes drive from railway station and 15 minutes drive from clock tower (Ghanta Ghar). The guest house is located in a residential colony which is silent and mostly pollution free.
Hotel: Its a family owned British Bungalow converted to a guest house. Even thought the rooms are old fashioned from outside, its fully renovated and spacious inside. The wash rooms were spacious and clean with 24 hour hot water (most hotels provide hot water only in the morning and evening) facility. The rooms don't have any heating facility, so be ready to spent the night under the blanket in winters. For summers, there are air-conditioned rooms.
Staff and Facility: The owners (they manage the guest house) were English speaking, helpful, courteous and not intrusive. The in-house canteen was a great help when we reached late at night. The cook was willing to prepare any north Indian food at any time of our choice. The quality and taste were average but this canteen really helps when one needs an extra bite or drink at odd hours. U can even get your train/flight tickets booked from here. The guest house claims to have a wi-fi network but my iphone was not able to detect it.
Summary: I would say, our stay in this guest house was better than a hotel in the city, considering the value for money and calm/peaceful atmosphere.

The wifi Internet does not work - particularly at the night time. Day time it is awfully slow. For every facility you need to complain to get the service for what you paid. The AC did not work, I needed to complain. The bathroom does not look top of the class. the room reeked of smoke. One needed to open the windows and doors to allow air to do the job for you. The employees are humble, locals, very down to earth people.
I management is stingy - and spends I think only the minimum. The shower did not work. I had to wait for two hours to get it fixed. the bed sheets were soiled, when I checked in. I demanded new sheets to be used. I had to wait for a couple of hours to get them, for there was none readily available. They don't change the bed sheets everyday. There is no towel in the batch room. But you can wash your clothes and let them dry on the roof top. that's good.

I stayed in this hotel for almost 4 days in the December last week.
I must say, all the facilities we have in this, but none of them is in working condition.
For ex, we have AC, it was not working and it will never work
We always had an issue with the Geezer, and we never used to get hot water.
Water has been always the concern.
Major concern what I feel is the communication through phone or with the owner of this hotel. Most of the times, he never understands what we say or we will never respond the way we expected.
My suggestion would be,never choose this. IF you don't have any option, choose this

I don't think I can say anything about this place that hasn't been said, but I am still writing a review to show my appreciation for this wonderful place. Location: Very conveniently situated in a safe and upscale residential area, yet is easily accessible by auto. Facility: All facilities that can be reasonable expected of a guest house are available. Rooms are huge, AC functional and uninterrupted water and electricity supply. Service: Better than expected. The staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and be of help. Value for money: Very much so, and this coming from a budget backpacker. Cleanliness: Decent. The bathroom was nice, dry and clean and so was the entire room. The sheets looked a little worse for wear though.
I don't think I'd want to stay at any other accommodation in Dehradun

Not so good: In house food is simple and limited in variety, however for fancy dishes they have an arrangement with a restaurant/fast food place which delivers to the room directly In house kitchen sometimes takes time to serve; however the chef will personally call you up to remind you to place your order ;) Quilts provided are too heavy and don't provide enough warmth; if you're going in winter you need to ask for a room heater
Good: Management and staff are extremely courteous Homely atmosphere Rooms and premises are very clean Property is aesthetically pleasing with lots of open areas Set in a quiet, respectable area and away from the din and noise of the city But very close to the railway station (15 mins' walk), bus terminus (15 mins' walk), Saharanpur Chowk (10 mins' walk), bustling market area of Kanwali Road (less than a minute's walk) Arrangements for AC, heater and geyser available In house food, though simple and limited in variety, is tasty and healthy. Ask the chef for his aloo paratha Sight seeing arrangements are made on request
Overall: Warm and homely atmosphere Good place to stay whether you're going alone, with friends or family
