Two rooms have the superb view across the road to the River Meuse. We had a well appointed room with comfy beds. The showeroom was a caravan type cubicle, so smallish but clean and worked well. The Staff were lovely and we ate in the small Bistro area both nights of our stay as we enjoyed the food and wine and it was so handy. Parking on roadside opposite hotel was no problem. Downside is the busyness of the road outside the hotel which can be noisy. Do visit the Centre Europeen des Metiers D'art on the Quai des Fours, part of the Office de Tourisme. You will find some really skilful crafts. Watch out if you want to visit the fort. As it is a military post there are only guided visits arranged by the Office de Tourisme and they don't do them on Tuesdays.

We arrived by bicycle, exhausted, traveling down the Meuse river. We were immediately met by the staff who set us up in our rooms and helped us put our bicycles in a safe, locked storage room. We were shown to rooms overlooking the river with very nice views; but we were more interested in a quiet night's sleep, so we requested rooms on the other side of the hotel - no view, but no street noise, either. This was the day that French Presidential elections were being held (second and final round voting) and maybe, just maybe, revelers would stay up late patting themselves on the back (or noisily drowning their sorrows).

No problem to move us. The hotel wasn't full that night. The rooms were very clean and seemed newly renovated. The beds and pillows were excellent. We had a very good night's sleep. Good breakfast the next morning before taking off along the river for the next biking phase.

Host was very welcoming and friendly. Rooms were clean, breakfast was continental but very tasty. Has a connecting creperie which was unfortunately shut on our visit which was a shame as would have been a great place to chill over crepe & coffee.
Wifi weak in upper floor rooms. Shower head was not very practical for the taller person. If you are 6ft+ your head will be directly under the shower head. Hotel location is great for local activities

Do not book online.
I booked via Booking.com at 5pm and at 6pm when I arrived the hotel was closed. I waited 1 hour before finding alternative accommodation. At 9pm the hotel phoned me after I messaged several times through the web site I booked with to ask if I still wanted to check in. I tried to get a refund but they have so far refused to do it. So not only did I pay for what looked like a nice hotel for the night I paid again to stay somewhere else. AVOID this place

We booked the hotel via Booking.com on the basis of many reviews in guide books. When we arrived at 5pm the hotel was shut. There was no notice on the front door to explain what the situation was. Turned out that the hotel was closed and the owner told us that we should go to the Hotel Sr Hilaire instead.

Our reservation at the Hotel St Hilaire was acknowledged but we had not booked that hotel, we wanted to stay at the Roosevelt. Be warned if you book the Roosevelt, you might not be staying there….

Came into Givet in the afternoon and wanted to stay here. Found Le Hotel Roosevelt and got a room. The lady who checked us in was super friendly and made us feel quite at home. A lovely hotel, rooms are clean and the price is good as well. Nice views from the hotel of the river right across the street. Would stay here again for sure!

We chose this hotel having viewed two others because the atmosphere was friendly. The lady owner was pleasant and chatty, enabling us to practise our French. We were a group of 3 vegans, and it is always difficult to dine out in France. However, after a discussion with us, her chef came up with a very tasty vegan option. The room was clean and comfortable and breakfast the next day was vegan too - the proprietor had already made arrangements with the lady who serves breakfast in the morning. I would recommend this hotel, and visit again if over that way

As we drew up the paved area outside the hotel set a dispiriting tone. A great stretch of this picturesque Givet riverside road is currently under repair and the result is a dusty sticky approach and a ban on parking. We found the hotel restaurant closed - the chef being apparently indisposed - and it was hard to avoid feeling that we and the other few guests were something of an inconvenience. The sink plug was missing. Two of the three lamps in the bedroom didn't work. At breakfast in an otherwise empty room we were placed behind a pillar which obscured all view of the outside world and this wasn't personal. A few minutes later a German couple were similarly refused permission to enjoy the river view. And the knowledge that our breakfast was patently being served by the hotel cleaner in between vacuuming hardly added to the gaiety of life. Having said all this the remedy is not hard. The hotel itself is clean, bright and modern.
The capsule bathroom was far better than many and the views and its setting on the Meuse have the makings of an excellent short stay location. Maybe better care is taken when the restaurant is working - the Roosevelt is letting itself down in the meantime. A real pity because this is a lovely part of France and worth rather more than an overnight stay.

Not on location but still good location. Very small, not so clean room, the reception could also be much neater, please don't let that big dog in the lobby, that can never be hygienic and will therefore smell fresher. It was a disappointment and that for €94 per night.

"Avoid if possible the front of the hotel - we could have been unlucky but the local kids seemed to gather outside for shouting contests that went on until about 2 am. Admittedly this was a Saturday night but it's not exactly conducive to rest."
