The staff were friendly and at hand to help resolve issues as they arouse. The food was good and variety was offered at every meal. However, no seafood was served as part of our menu apart from Fish. The BBQ dinner had a great setup and the video taken of the event was truly great at capturing the highlights of the dinner. Poolside music was great as it created a sense of energy around the place. The Makuti roof in the common areas was coming off but i witnessed some repairs going on so maybe the next time i visit it will look much better
We checked into the Zanzibar Beach Resort over Eid weekend. We had a little 2-night stay, which was much needed. Working in the hotel industry myself, I generally pre-book my rooms if I have an early arrival so I can get into my room early morning. That went a bit south even though I did send a message saying I booked a night before to be able to get in the room prior to check-in time. That message was acknowledged. We arrived at the hotel at 7:00 AM or so and were told my booking was cancelled. I denied the claim and showed the messages that were exchanged. Then I was told that the hotel was fully booked and my room was not available until later. I mentioned that that is also not right because I was supposed to have my room the previous day. I finally got a temporary room at a lower category but was still charged for the previous night at the same rate as my ocean view chalet. That was a bit disappointing. Late check-out was then also charged for. Two people I would like to highlight though are Maureen, the Housekeeping Manager, who did a beautiful set up in our room for us and really personalized the service. When I told her I liked Ugali and it reminds me of a food we eat at home too, she immediately grabbed Chef Aggrey who came to sit with us for a little bit. Both Maureen and Chef Aggrey did make the overall stay experience better for us and that was very much appreciated.…
Located in a very central place, I was able to access various places by walking. The hotel itself is very nice. Very spacious rooms and balconies. Clean linen. WiFi is not strong in the rooms, maybe this could be improved if that's necessary for you. A definite go back.
After the Amazing safaris in Northern- Serengeti, This place is where to chill and enjoy the wind to unwind from the Bush experience while reviewing your photos from magical- Ombeni African Safaris. The seafood is amazing and the sunset is wild just like Serengeti- We thank the CEO-Ombeni- at Ombeni African Safaris for this access!
I had a great stay at this hotel. Its a beautiful hotel located very close to the airport. Visited this hotel on a business trip. The view from the room balcony was breathtaking. Hotel is located very close to Stone Town and the reception helped organise my taxi very well. The staff are really friendly and go an extra mile to make you comfortable. They have a very big pool overlooking the ocean.
Nice hotel near Covid test Centre. Rooms is spacious and clean set up in true Zanzibar Style with Antique beds and mosquito nets. Bathrooms reflect true Zanzibar/Arabian style. Large swimming pool overlooking the ocean (not a good swimming beach). Friday night dinner buffet with live entertainment is very good and offers a good variety of BBQ and local food. Staff is friendly and helpful. Very nice views of sunsets from the comfort the balcony of the rooms.
We love Wellworth group hotels Service at Zanzibar beach resort was great Unfortunately because of Covid, the pool became a « public pool » for locals It was very dirty and they put speakers but music all day long very loud Also could not tan around the pool cause it is a Muslim culture That was very not nice.. The food was terrible And a lack of security, did not feel safe
The resort is well located, near town and the airport. The rooms are cleans and spacious. Restaurants food and the breakfast was amazing. The swimming on the beautiful view of the océan is just paradise.
Like most hotels at the moment, the pandemic has had a significant impact on customer numbers. There were very few guests staying while I was there for a week in early June 2021, and as a result there was only one restaurant open, however it does cater to most tastes. Breakfast is adequate if a little bland, and the toaster is unpredictable in its toasting abilities, from warm bread, to full toast, or no toasting at all. I stayed there over a weekend, which proved to be one of the biggest issue I had. They allow non residents to make use of the pool area for a small fee, which resulted in a lot of children in the pool, with associated noise on both Saturday and Sunday. There was also a loud disco on both days from mid afternoon up until 7pm, and you couldn’t escape the noise! Sun beds became a free for all as there are no reserved beds for resident guests. The sun beds are also in quite poor condition with torn covers on most of them. The beach is not accessible from the hotel. If you like to use a gym when holidaying, this is definitely not the place for you. Think windowless “dungeon like space” with an awful damp smell of decay, and a lot of broken equipment. I had a quick introduction and never returned. Wi-FI works well thought the hotel. The staff are absolutely wonderful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Friendly and always with a smile, they are an asset to the hotel.…
We made a terrible mistake booking this resort hotel. We realised our mistake at check in with lines of local people waiting to enter and paying for write bands at the resort. When we saw our room and the pool area we were even more devastated. We had booked the room a couple of days before and we booked for 3 nights. However, the hotel does not offer refunds. We spoke with the manager to see if we could leave immediately and have a refund but he wouldn’t allow it. We offered that the hotel take 50% of the money for the full three nights if we leave now and stay elsewhere but this was also refused. We booked through Expedia but Expedia said it is the resort that has a policy of offering no refunds. The manager said we could leave the hotel but the entire three night stay of USD 420 would be charged regardless. The resort is full with day pass users who are local people who pay between USD 2-4 for a day pass to use the pool and facilities. There are no sun loungers or seating for the guests of the hotel near the pool as these are taken, it is extremely loud music all day, every day from Friday to Sunday inclusive until 7pm. It’s a pool party. You can’t even hide in your room to avoid the noise. The hotel advertises COVID 19 restrictions with social distancing and temperature check but there is absolutely nothing and the pool is packed. We couldn’t go near it given the complete failure for health and safety. The day we checked out, which was a Monday, the pool area was quiet and the three day pool party was over. Although the name of the resort as well as the pictures on their website suggests there is a beach...well, the “beach” is unusable. It’s full of rubbish. The manager explained that this side of the island does not have any nice beaches. The rooms are very tired indeed. Not what you would expect for USD 140 a night. The first room was in the “palace” area but we were moved to a sea view room. This was a marginally better room but also very tired and did not look like it’s been updated in 40 years. My partner received an electric shock from the plug socket. The old appliances are dangerous. Although I wanted to leave the hotel immediately despite a refund not being offered, we decided not to ruin the rest of the holiday and each day we did day trips out of the resort. I could not have spent a day in this awful place. We visited Nakupenda, prison island and Safari Blue to find a beach during day trips to escape this terrible resort. We had hoped to just relax for the last few days of our holiday at the resort, however, this was impossible and we were forced out of the resort with the noise and crowds of people. Having to spend so much extra on day trips was frustrating. The staff at meal times are polite and helpful and the food is edible. This resort is in serious need of an update. Either the resort is for hotel guests or it is for day pass users. There isn’t space for both. …
