Arriving just blows your mind. Down a long driveway through wooded areas arriving at a majestic chateau. The owner always seems to know you are arriving. Gerard and Brigitte are lovely. Gerard is so personal and engaging. They have spent so much time and money making the chateau so charming. Breakfast is superb in a fantastic dining room. Unfortunately they... More

If you are looking for a quiet country elegance and a warm welcome, this is the place for you. Delicious home cooked dinner. Lovely accommodations. Beautiful quiet setting in a beautifully restored manor house. Great stopover, near the Loire!

We booked a room here with very little notice relying on Alastair Sawday guide as we drove through France so was a bit apprehensive- all doubts evaporated on arrival! The hosts were charming, not disturbed by our last minute booking or our late arrival (they even booked local restaurant for us so we didn't go hungry!) or our attempts at... More

The house is set in wooded parkland and is full of charm and character. Our room was spacious, well furnished and with a spotless and prettily decorated bathroom. We had aperitifs of local wine in the lounge with Brigitte and Gerard. They both speak excellent English but encouraged us to try our French. Dinner was first class and consisted of... More

We traveled here on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed. It took a bit of finding (don't hesitate to call Gerard and he will talk you in - fluently - in English). Lovely welcome, superb rooms and lovely breakfast. We had seen a Vineyard nearby on our way in, and Gerard gave us directions back to... More

We would like to repeat what others before us have already said - this is a warm, welcoming and very French experience. We were the only visitors (very disappointing for the owners to be so empty in the holiday season) and so we had the house to ourselves - and the undivided attention of the very welcoming hepful host and... Le Mesangeau is a beautiful manoir set in the countryside but within easy driving distance of local towns and villages. Gerard and Brigitte maintain the property in superb condition inside and out – it’s spotlessly clean, well furnished, peaceful and quiet. They both speak excellent English although Gerard tried to help me improve my French but his English was better... More

Lovely setting down into the valley and up out again. After being talked in via a phone call - beware it is outside drain - we received a lovely welcome from the owner. The room was super with all the extras you would want and spotlessly clean. We had opted for dinner which was freshly cooked and we ate with... More

A memorable visit to " Le Mesangeau " in the heart of Anjou-Loire, a time to re-connect with our passionate hosts Brigitte et Gerard who entertain and inform us at breakfast with their deep knowledge of the region's history, advice on visits to the local vintners or to our delight, and to satisfy our curiosity, a visit to their private... We had a great two nights here albeit after some difficulty finding the place. On arrival it was a warm autumn evening so drinks on the front verandah were a must for the assembled party of six, poor Gerard, he doesn't drink. This was followed by a dignified dinner in the spacious dining room which was full of typical French... More
