The food the staff the rooms is excellent. The vibe is very chilled, there is no reception as such, the kitchen is where the manager is, he is extremely helpful, I had a chance to meet the owner who is also so beautiful to talk to. For Majuli’s basic housing options this place is excellent, it has a great sense of aesthetics and design, location is superb, its at the river, infact travellers from all around majuli come to appreciate the design of Dekasang. I have read some neg reviews of 2 years ago but I don’t seem to have the same opinion, we stayed in the deluxe rooms in dec 2021 which were perfect.
We stayed Dekasang on 20 th Feb , It was a excellent experience , food was good , staff was very polite , room was clean ...overall a nice stay ..The manager Pobitro was very helpful ..If are in for bonfire in midst of tranquility than this place is for you ...
This hotel feels like someone had a good idea but never quite followed through. It is not at all welcoming and we flet like an imposition. It has a shabby, semi derelict feel like a an abandoned theme park that Scooby and Shaggy would find themslves in. It is grubby and the rooms are airless. The staff such as they are are elusive and the food was terrible, the only poor food we had in our three week tour. There are clearly some much nicer places now open around the island and this place does not deserve to stay open, avoid at all costs as there is nothing good to say about it. Simply awful.
Beautiful location and excellent eco-friendly construction. Very good hospitalityand food. The ambience is natural and beautiful. The Dance performance was very good and entertaining. Amenities were up to our expectations.
Keep In mind that Majuli is out of the way do the options are limited. Not quite as charming as the pictures imply. Rooms were clean but sparse. Bathroom the same. There were gaps between the floorboards in our room leaving me to worry about what might crawl up in the night. Other rooms were not and bad. Luckily the bugs left us alone. There doesn’t seem to be a “office” or any common space except for eating area. As a matter of fact there didn’t seem to be anyone running the place. Having said that, it was worth putting up with meager accommodations to visit Majuli which is truly a gem of a place.
Basic is always OK by me, but it has to be clean. It was not. And friendly staff helps too. This was the only place during a three week trip that seemed un-managed and very aloof about their guests needs. The rooms were uncomfortable and there wasn't any common space to hang around in.
Bamboo Hut were awesome and Horion was very nice guys, who guide us to visit Majuli and Food were good and all over behavior of staff were good and location wise it was great and they also organise traditonal dance every night
Very professionally managed place by founder of famous Prag News mr kaushik. The place is very tastefully decorated to give a feel of Mising tribe, food was excellent and hospitality was very warm. The owner is very passionate about Majuli and he has used local resources to meet the routine needs on very unique was the water let made of bamboo trunk. Meals was personally prepared by the owner and they were lip smacking especially fish curry. We also got an opportunity to row a local made boat. The experience was exhilarating.
The worst property I have stayed in my 18 days of recce Trip of Assam and Meghalaya on behalf of Travel Corporation of India - the biggest Destination Management Company in the inbound travel business in India. There is no way Iam going to send my clients here. Staff is really helpful but have no clue about service, badly needs a direction & training, worst underpaid and not motivated. My room (no 1) despite quirky which is nice is sadly gloomy and badly needs some TLC (the roof had tiny holes).Food though adequate is insipid. The geyser of my room, Iam told, is not working properly for the past 15 days. I know Majuli is back of beyond and it is difficult to get things fixed. But 15 days?? come on. The owner for sure is not commited or give a flying fig about the cultural and ecological sanctity of Majuli - Asia's largest freshwater River island and the hub of Assamese culture. Why would he otherwise allow loud music in the property. It seems it was a farewell party of some important local bureaucrat. The loud music went on till midnight. Ridiculous given guests like me check out as early as 7:30 in the morning to catch the ferry out of Majuli and the staff would have to wake up even before guests to serve them breakfast. Why tire them out when they would spend 2-3 hrs winding up things after such a late night?? Why not folk dances of the indigenous communities of Majuli minus all those huge speakers which even guests would have appreciated and enjoyed. And as I suspected, the entire staff including the owner was sleeping when I was about to check out at 07:30 next morning. Somebody woke up only when I said I will leave now without paying the bills. What a shame. This place would have been magic if the owner had his heart at the right place, stayed true and invested on people.Avoid Deka Sang like plague.…
Our request for a honeymoon suite was acknowledged two months in advance to our arrival. On the day of arrival we confirmed late check in to the honeymoon suite to the owner as we were in transit from Kaziranga (approx. 8 hours from Majuli). On arrival however, our suite was given to another couple and they had only one of those. Therefore, we were checked in into a normal room. Though the staff is courteous, the manager is callous and unaware of the bookings and check in’s of the day. The owner is unreachable from 17:30 hours.
