Cheap, clean, owners helpful and efficient, but definitely gone beyond needing TLC: requires full refurb! Noticed it was up for sale which explains a lot. Location not the best, next door to a transport depot and looked like converted army hut - but convenient for the motorway. If you just need a cheap clean room for an overnight bed then...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. The Mercury, we believe, was the first purpose built motel in England. It has been used on several occasions as a film set because of the unusual appearance and it is hard to make a single storey flat roofed building look anything other than that. It is next door to...

Stayed one night, Sat 16th August. Not good, Bed was comfy enough and sheets were clean But room and pillow case smelt of cigarette smoke, sealant coming away from around the bath, both bedside lights in room did not work, didn't find out till bedtime, a bit late to report it. Bath was very slippery. It was not expensive but...

Venue room really good, and great party, but oh dear! Arrived after very long journey to be told no food on offer...lucky we found Nick's down the road...tip...buy 1 meal for 2/3 of you, portions huge and delicious! And back to The Mercury, staff pleasant, place run down, room adequate ..beds comfy, but bathroom just not acceptable in the £50-£80...

First of all, the staff are great. The rooms however are beyond a gheto, the whole place is falling apart, skirting boards with holes where the mice get in. The bathroom was falling apart, rust and sinks that were close to falling of the wall.....70's lino in the floor that was mouldy. Every time you flushed the loo, it came...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. The photo you show saying hole in skirting board where mice get in is in fact a hole in the door where a previous guest opened the door so heavily that the door stay penetrated the wooden door and is now rectified. All our bathrooms were refloored 4...

Stayed here last night for the Elton concert. Ideal location, friendly and polite staff, extremely clean with a fantastic breakfast. Not the Ritz but what do you expect for the price.. Fantastic value

We visited this hotel for a 1 night stay, bed very very comfortable, the room could do with a bit of a revamp, but I understand that they are revamping the motel at present. My parents room was much better than ours, but I have to say very clean and tidy, just a shame about the décor. Staff very very...

Spent one night here whilst visiting family. Don't imagine that we'll repeat the experience! On the plus side, the welcome was very friendly, and the room was spotless. The twin beds were comfortable enough. The room was very warm when we entered, but turning off the radiator and opening the window brought temperatures down to an acceptable level. However, everything...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay here at the Mercury. We were unaware until the chef came in for breakfast that the boiler had cut out and therefore not produced hot water. We put that right immediately and there was water by the time breakfast was under way, but appreciate that that was not a welcome...

2 night stay, great staff, warm and friendly. Ideally located for visiting local attractions around Manchester including The Trafford Centre. The room was clean and a good size, though the bathroom was a little chilly (no heater)

The breakfast is lovely, the staff welcoming, (and throughout our stay) warm and friendly. The surroundings need some attention but I don't think this is wholly the fault of the current proprietors. (the lease is up for sale) This price is very, very reasonable for the venue ( 2 in room for £40) add Breakfast for £5 - toast, cereals,...
