Ironically, this property could have easily been a 4star property, but the lack of maintenance has taken it downhill. Pros: the property has a beautiful setting by the river. Each room has a balcony to enjoy the view. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious. While we were disappointed at not getting a Bhutanese meal, the Indian dinner and breakfast was tasty. Cons: The toilet seat was so terrible that i didn't want to use it at all. The door of the cupboard was broken. The staff hadn't bothered to keep a floor mat or hand towels in the bathroom. They needed to be reminded to keep drinking water in the room. Sofas in the room were stained.
We went their after seeing the review of TripAdvisor. But it as a really different then what we expected. 1) No Room Amenities (we asked for a sandal to use in the washroom and they said they don't have any. 2) Each room had a small balcony in front and their were two chairs. We took 2 rooms and all four of the chairs were very dirty, old and torn apart. 3) The staff were kind but it seems that they have no idea of what is available within their reach. In all of Bhutan I have stayed at more than 5 hotels and this is the only hotel, where they serve no green tea at all. 4) We checked into the hotel in the evening after travelling for more than 7 hours and so we were hungry. Hence, we asked for room service (Sandwiches) before our dinner, they could not even prepare that. 5) In the dinner, the chapati and the chicken butter masala was good. In the complementary breakfast (we had to tell the staff about our food preference and then they brought it from the kitchen, the breakfast was not in buffet manner. Over all this place is over rated and only you can enjoy the river view. But honestly, while we were travelling in our car, the view of the Punkaha River was much better from the road than in the resort.…
Good service , Friendly staff and top of it Indian food . I will preferrer to stay here if I visit again . Out side city hence very peaceful ... Excellent location for Families... East facing Rooms ( all ) .. U can enjoy your morning tea at Balcony with sunrise .
The hotel is not in Punakha, firstly. It is in Wangdue, 20-25 minutes away from Punakha so choose it only if are ready to be travelling half hour each time. Has great scenic views and the service in restaurant is great and they serve with warmth.. Despite being off season and 2-3 rooms booked, they gave us a room on 1st floor far away from the reception with no direct Garden access, no idea why. However, the service was great. I planned for staying 2 nights here but cam back to Thimphu after just 1 as i could not think of doing anything other than sitting in the room, because in the day you go on sightseeing and in evening, there is nothing to do near hotel as there are insects outside and with an infant, it risky.
1. Those who wants total natural chill, then this hotel is best. Pure mountain air, sound of river water flowing side wise, one can see the river from balcony. Best view is at night when one can see the entire town is covered up with some lighting and looks like Diwali festival. 2. Food quality is too good and flavor is totally Indian, one of the best hotel taste wise but costly for budget travellers. Also there is not a single hotel nearby and nearest hotel is 5 to 10 km away. Bhutanese are lovely, cool, very honest and very friendly people so if u want to go outside then there will be no problem at all. 3. I had booked through Goibibo site n got some discount also. 4. One interesting thing i would like to share that in our India, u have to ask for wifi password but they provide as soon as u enter in their hotel by themself, damn cool isn't? …
Wonderful landscaping, spacious clean rooms & washrooms, tasty food, great view of river and hills of Bhutan... Dragon Nest has it all. Best choice for stay. Very friendly staff, amazing ambience and quite safe place to stay. Wish I had more days to spend there.
This hotel is located around 6 kilometers away from Punakha town, thus a bit away from the crowd. A two storied resort type facility and a quite place to stay. Each of the room are facing the river and the mountains across, wonderful view I should say.! Food at the restaurant is good, a la carte. Hotel rent is alright in compare to the quality of room and sleep. My kids and wife also liked the place.
I booked hotel with MMT........rooms were big .location was excellent food was .pricey...... hotel is not in punakh......but at.......... wandruphorang for 1 night stay it is OK it is 2 hour away from Phobjika Valley..
This is a wonderful hotel and the view you get from here is just so mindblowing there is a mountain, river all together. The hospitality is so good and the food they provide here is just so exotic. Loved the stay here and looking forward to stay here in the coming days..
This hotel has a fantastic view & you can literally sit outside and do nothing. that is sheer bliss. the staff is also awesome. The food is to die for! their breakfast buffet is sooo good. unlike the other hotels, they do not lay everything on the table. but based on the requirement get everything hot!! the staff is courteous, rooms are clean & spacious... the view from the room is just amazing.... we literally sat in the balcony almost the whole day and kept enjoyingg the view and the food.... a must stay in punakha!!
