We stayed in this nice Pema Karpo Hotel as part of our Bhutan Trip recently. The hotel is so nicely located , just in from of Punakha River. We have taken riverfront room in the first floor, just in front of the river looking at the Punakha river . The room is a big size with all the necessary amenities. The food is also very good and complete Indian vegetarian style. The service at the restaurant, housekeeping, and other staff are very good, helpful and cooperative. Overall our experience with Pema Karpo is very good and suggest all to choose this one.
We visited Punakha during Nov 2019. Both of us enjoyed our stay thoroughly. The hotel is situated at the bank of the river , hence the rooms on facing riverside have a brilliant view of the flowing river. We stayed in room no 432 , which was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel staff was very cordial and polite and quick to service. The food was also good. Really enjoyed the stay and this property is highly recommended. The sound of the flowing river in the darkness of the night was something that I will cherish throughout my life.
The view from our room was too good, as we could see the river and hear the noise of water flowing. We were there just for a day, I wish we stayed for longer. Courteous and pleasant staff and good food too
I really fell in love with Punakha and was fortunate to have a view of the river from my 4th floor room at the Hotel Pema Karpo. Be aware, there are no elevators but it was very generous of the hotel staff to carry up my suitcase. The hotel is basic with spacious rooms but the wifi was not reliable. I was disappointed that I was not allowed to participate in the breakfast/dinner buffet - that seemed to be reserved for only the Indian guests at the hotel. The alternative meal option was ok, but it would have been nice to have had a say or choice on what I wanted to eat. Nevertheless, the highlight of my stay was waking up early and walking across the hotel to the river. There's a bench by the river so just sit back and enjoy the scenery.
Pema Karpo hotel is situated on the banks of river. We stayed in 3rd floor and rooms are spacious. Few rooms are having river view. Main draw back is there is no life, we have to climb through steps every time. Breakfast and Dinner are served in ground floor and it was good. Service of the staff members are good.
Overall a good stay at this place , has basic facilities , bathroom was not that good but has continuous hot water. Bathroom fittings are quite old and not working well. The breakfast and dinner buffet is quite good and has lots of Indian dishes.
The hotel is located at a sweet spot opposite the banks of a river. The buffet spread for breakfast and dinner was good. The rooms are well furnished. The only negative was that the swimming pool was empty and not available for use. Due to the location of the hotel an evening stroll along the banks of the river is indeed a delight.
When I entered the hotel I was expecting too much out of it but when I checked into my room I was not so happy but i was really lucky that there was one room on the ground level accessible by wheelchair and I was very upset because the bathroom had a bath tub and also the toilet was very basic. on asking I found that it was not the only room being on the ground floor that was with bathtub but the whole hotel had similar kinds of bathrooms. The room was very big should I say a wheelchair friendly room.. the hotel seemed to be very famous because when I went for breakfast in the morning it was filled with people, the breakfast was very basic Buffet.... the Wi-Fi is a major problem in Bhutan the network was bad probably in between I could just receive some WhatsApp messages but you can forget to Google anything in that network not even a map, you can get out into the lobby to get the network.... so the ground level is wheelchair accessible but they do not have any lift to access the upper floors.... I had heard that they also have a swimming pool but are looking outside the window and seeing the backyard of the hotel I was not too excited to go and check out any other activities... I should not be craving about the place but we thank for at least there was a room on the ground floor that I could access even though the bathroom was not happening at all.... …
This was a great place to stay and we wish we could have spent another night there .... the rooms were great, the food was great, the staff were great and the location of the hotel was just great !!!!! The only disappointment was that despite there being a great swimming pool on the day of our visit it had been dried out to clean so we could not swim in the great looking pool !!!!!
10 of us including my Sisters, brother and their families visited Bhutan in June 19 and spent a night in this Hotel at Punakha on our way back from Phubjikha. The tour including the hotels was organised through AD Tours and Travel. The hotel is located away from Punakha town, but in a good location overlooking a river in front and agriculture land in the back. Our room had the look of the river and mountain and was so amazing. The rear side had equally good view even without the river. I went for a long walk in the morning along the river. Evening all of us sat in the river bank and being a moonlit night we had an unforgettable experience. The hotel is clean and all of us were happy with both breakfast and dinner.
