The staff are some of the friendliest I have encountered in Bhutan. They are just finishing up renovations, which will make the place even nicer. The Spa was excellent! The food was good, and the restaurant staff were equally friendly. The Wi-Fi was adequate and worked well even though my room was at the end of the hall. The refrigerator in the room was a nice touch. The room was large and comfortable.

My only complaint was there was plenty of hot water, but the water pressure was low.

A decent and nice property bit away from town on wangdue road. Right there on the bank of river. Stayed there for a night. Really spacious Rooms, clean with a nice river view. I got corner room, so with a perfect view. Bathroom was equipped with bathtub. Wifi was working in room. In room dining was available but dining in restaurant is suggestible. Had dinner in buffet. Nice food. Breakfast spread was limited but tasty. Reception was courteous and staff was very friendly and helping. They took care of each and every thing we needed.
Hotel has a big space for parking. There is a archery ground near to the hotel. Some two three small shops are also there adjacent to hotel.
My stay was very good, i enjoyed. A very nice property i can recommend to every kind of traveller.

This is a great new hotel which looks fantastic from the outside and when you get inside you will find that the rooms are new and some of the furnishings still have bits of the original wrapping plastic on them they are so new.
The rooms are large and spacious. The furniture is comfortable and modern, there was even a brand new flat screen TV in the room, alas for some reason they put this on the side wall so that it could not be easily watched from the bed without sitting sideways on it (this was crazy as there was a nice sitting area in which it could have been placed or a wall directly in frount of the bed.
The bathroom was again large however the finish on the vanity door was just an undercoat as too was the finish on the door in which the hot water system lived. There was a shower over the bath that was great, alas the tiled were set so that no matter how hard you tried the water ran around the side of the bath and flowed onto the floor and duly created a large puddle every time one had a shower. Fine these are small things but frustrating as the hotel has so much potential and the manager was really trying to make it a first rate place. Another example of poor design was the siting area in the bar which had great seats, etc, however the TV was across the other side of the dinning hall from this and was set above where the buffet would be served - one can only ask why.... even our guide tried to explain to them that some of these things could easily be improved - maybe one day.
However all this said it was a good hotel which we enjoyed staying at. And there was also WiFi available in the foyer

Hotel Pema Karpo is located just across the river and mountains with magnificent views from all the rooms. The staff is excellent, efficient and extremely cooperative. Since we had a day tour and my son wanted to use the pool before going out, the staff arranged for the pool to be open and the lifeguard to be present at 7.30 am itself as against the pool's opening time of 9 am. The food was excellent although there was a huge group of Gujarati tourists (Heena Tours and Travels) who made a lot of noise ( they are notorious for doing so and the Hotel cannot be blamed for that). The rooms are spacious (although in need of some renovation) and the prompt service reminded me of Alladin and his magic lamp. I complimented the staff on their service excellence. Great work, guys. Keep it up !!!

In its juice for 20 years, poorly insulated, poorly maintained.
Large impersonal rooms, neon lighting. Bathroom from a bygone era. Faucets, shower curtain and toilet seat to be replaced at a minimum.
Huge and cold restaurant room.
Kind welcome.
To avoid.

Awesome river side hotel. Extremely delicious food. Far from the city so no worries of wife shopping. The rooms are very huge and every room comes with a bathtub . The best part is the beautiful swimming pool. The walk around the hotel land sipping Tea sitting by the window and watching the river go down endlessly.... awesome.

We stayed here for a night. Family of 4 and had taken 2 rooms. The location is very serene and offbeat. The riverbank is right across the hotel and the view on the other side is also beautiful -- farms and paddy plantation.

Resort staff was very helpful and courteous. They do not have elevators and the front desk was kind enough to get us 1 ground floor room for seniors in our group. Food was simple, but good. No complains. The entire hotel staff did their utmost to make our stay pleasant and nice.

Rooms are equipped with heaters and thats helpful since it was pretty cold in the night.

Dont go looking for luxury or very modern amenities. Rooms are spacious & clean. Nothing uber but nothing to complain as well.

The hotel was booked by my travel agent and the hot shower wasn't working. It took more than 4 people to look into it and they were not able to fix it. After an hour of struggle nothing happened and I requested another room. Shifting was a other hassle as many things left in the old room had to be transferred and I have left a pair of trousers behind( room 319). Will not recommend this hotel. Pls ensure things are proper before a guest checks in.

We stayed in this nice Pema Karpo Hotel as part of our Bhutan Trip recently. The hotel is so nicely located , just in from of Punakha River.
We have taken riverfront room in the first floor, just in front of the river looking at the Punakha river . The room is a big size with all the necessary amenities.
The food is also very good and complete Indian vegetarian style. The service at the restaurant, housekeeping, and other staff are very good, helpful and cooperative.
Overall our experience with Pema Karpo is very good and suggest all to choose this one.

Very good hotel, staff and food. Such a great welcome, smooth check in, humble staff, good rooms (we were not given AC rooms inspite of booking in advance they gave sick excuse saying AC rooms are under renovation) delicious food.

Staff is too good they actually treated us royally. Thanks entire team of Hotel. Special thanks to Restaurant Team.

Am sorry brother, but you are a person from very beautiful natural place- Manali and am too from Assam with full of green hills and rivers. Now, tell me my brother what else more than that you have seen in dry Bhutan hills in November end, 2014. Another main thing in tourism is good food, Bhutan follows its own flavour in every food they make. No Bhutani food is famous in the world, so no question of loving it. Atmosphere of Bhutan is an atmosphere of poor country dominated by King and people fear him. Otherwise. Bhutanis smoke more cigarettes than Indians but secretly. Respect and fear are two absolutely different things.
