Detailed Reviews
Stayed for 1 night while visiting the sights in the Punakha region. I don't think that there are many hotels in the area built to Western standards.
The property is quite large and the rooms/cottages are built along the hillside overlooking the river. Very pleasant setting and the dining room has a nice view of the river. The staff is pleasant and tries to be accommodating. Wifi is also reasonably strong.
Dinner is buffet style and typically one cuisine aimed at the majority of the guests staying there that night. It happened to be Indian when we were there. We would been happy with that, but the staff also brought us a special Western meal (we also sat with our guide and driver who shared the typical Bhutanese cuisine, so we had three meals that night!!).
The room was the least appealing element. Ours was large (main room, separate kitchen facilities, and large bath/dressing area) and clean. However, it was showing signs of age and wear (the shower faucet fell off when turned) and we had to unplug items to plug in phone chargers. Could also hear neighbors through the walls, so it made it less pleasant to spend much time in the room. Nothing was unbearable, but just not as pleasant as we were expecting for the location.

Everything is nice about this resort and such a good place to unwind and relax. Food is yummy and they offer a nice spread. Big rooms facing the river makes the stay nice and homey. Advisable to check that they offer you the same category of room as you have booked for junior staffs often would do random swaps of rooms. Manager running the place is very helpful and courteous.

We stayed here during out Bhutan trip. This resort is outside of city and at a quiet place with excellent view. On the bank of the river with cottage like rooms. Rooms are clean with good bed and heating facility. Staffs are very helpful and courteous. Overall a very good option to relax and enjoy the beauty of Bhutan.

We stayed here as part of a 6 day tour through western Bhutan. We had a room near the main building which faced the river - absolutely stunning views. The room itself was spacious and clean with all the amenities needed. Be aware - the hot water doesn't last for very long when showering.
The staff were very friendly and hospitable. Unlike most other places, the food here is served to your table rather than a buffet. Our dinner here was absolutely delicious and there was a nice variety of dishes. I noticed some people commented that the food could be improved in the guest book but I'm not sure why. The only thing I can think of is that most of the dishes were Asian compared to other places. For us, it was our favourite meal by far whilst in Bhutan.
The only negative for me was the wifi. It was quite slow and patchy even when there weren't many people using it. Apart from that, it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

The moment I reached here, I fell in love with the cottage. I was traveling solo and my stay was comfortable and safe. Location is Serene, picturesque, lush green. You can catch incredible view of river mi Chu from almost all of the rooms. There are Ample of room options are available, you can upgrade as per your need. Staff is obsequious, kind.
Food was delicious, limited items, north Indian Cuisine, one non vegetarian dish is included.
Cottage is 10 mins away from the main town.
I highly recommend this, away from hustle-bustle and value for money.

We went to Punakha in the first week of April 2015 and found the town beautiful. To top it our cottage at punatshangchhu was at the river bank and was beautiful .The staff was very cordial. The owner and the manager (Tippy) was a wonderful dynamic lady who went out of her way to make our stay at the cottage memorable .She also allowed us to use her kitchen and cook upma when we said we were missing home food.
Our stay at Punakha was memorable!

Dear MahathiVijayprakash, Thank-you for staying with us and for your motivating review .It has been a pleasure interacting with your family and friends. The kitchen staff are happy to have been able to work with you and learn how to prepare a South Indian dish that is quite rare in this side of the region . I wish you and your family all the best and hope to be able to serve you on your next visit .

Very basic rooms in the village of Wangdue. Having just left the lovely Hotel Druk in Thimpu, we were disappointed to arrive to a rude front desk staff member, cold, dimly lit rooms and showers with poor water pressure and moldy vinyl shower curtains.
What needs mentioning: lousy food selection. Our guide knew this and took us elsewhere for dinner both nights. I highly recommend you do the same. Breakfast was no better, day 1 limited selection of eggs, watery porridge, corn flakes, toast and french fries. I opted for porridge and added my own packet of oatmeal to make it less runny. Day 2: eggs, toast, corn flakes, grilled tomatoes and a meat of sorts. I'm veg, so I was glad to have brought my own oatmeal packets which the kids and I ate. Tea is a better choice here than coffee, or better yet, bring your own instant Via packets and ask for hot water. The staff were not friendly and service at breakfast was slow. Internet is slow and unreliable. Again, I'm in Bhutan, so I expect this, but when it comes to what I'm spending and what I'm getting, it doesn't equate. The electricity went out twice and was fixed within 15 minutes, not a huge deal as we are in Bhutan after all, but worth mentioning as it was the only place we stayed that this happened. Mattresses were hard, pillow were harder. My husband woke up with a stiff neck and headache both mornings. Bathrooms are poorly lit and in desperate need of new shower curtains. A mosquito (or more than one) in the kids' room feasted on them, so I recommend the owners put a coil or plug-in to keep the mossies away.
I am a very generous TripAdvisor rater, and I take TripAdvisor very seriously, looking for reviews and reviewers that I can count on. I am really hard pressed to believe that this place has a Certificate of Excellence, and I really wish I knew why. There was nothing excellent about it. It was average at best. This may be only my second "poor" rating for a hotel to date. I am not a complainer, but I was disappointed with our stay. For what my family of five was spending a day, I was very disappointed in the quality of the stay here, the quality of the food here and the lack of service here. I would not recommend it. The view was lovely, but it's the only thing the place has going for it.

Overall a nice, comfortable place with friendly management and staff. It's well-located above the river opposite Bajo Town, far enough away to avoid night noises but near enough to reach your destinations (Wangdue or Punakha) easily in the morning. The food is on par with other food options in the area.

Stayed in these cottages for 4 nights. A gem in the middle middle of nowhere. Right next to the river. Clean rooms and very helpful and smiling staff. Good tasty Indian and Bhutanese food. Would recommend this place n would stay again , if I travel that side.
