Despite the fact I have had to spend ages re-writing this review because of some Internet glitch I still cannot recommend Abbots Thorn highly enough. What a place, what a view and what hosts who really put themselves out to meet our unusual needs! We stayed for too short a time and hope to return soon enough, with our dog...

This time it was our 12th visit to this heavenly place. All the things match: b&b, the hosts, the village, the surroundings,... A perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy some easy or not so easy walking.

A most comfortable and homely environment. An above average cooked breakfast with a good range of cereals. The proprietors were most accomodating and nothing was too much trouble.

I stayed at Abbots Thorn with my father for four nights and had a wonderful time. The B&B is perfectly placed for walking in the dales, as well as a short drive from castles and other activites, as well as the shops in Leyburn and Middleham. John was very welcoming and cooked a wonderful breakfast for us, with loads of...

My wife and I, together with another couple, stayed at Abbots Thorn in the end of August,10. John and Pat made us feel ever so welcome. I would certainly return to this lovely B&B. I must make it clear, however, that a car, in my opinion, is an absolute must when staying at Abbots Thorn. It is miles from the...

Pat and John are warm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Their knowledge of the area was very helpful to us as this was our first trip to North Yorkshire. The rooms are cosy, clean and comfortable with little extras that I didn't expect. It was a lovely place to come back to after a long day sight seeing....

We chose Abbots Thorn for a short two-night stay in the Dales based on their website alone, and it was a gamble that paid off. I've stayed in many north England B&Bs, but it was a new experience for the friend I was traveling with. John and Pat strike the perfect balance between being friendly and welcoming, and giving their...

Brought my mother here for a couple of days of walking and eating and generally having a good time. John and Pat are the perfect hosts. John has a great sense of humour and Pat puts up with him very well! Our twin room had great views across the hills and we couldn't have been made more welcome. Pat's breakfasts...
