Once a traditional Portuguese house, Jungle Hostel has been redesigned to provide you with the essentials – free wifi and breakfast, secure lockers, fully equipped kitchen and 24/7 security. With numerous terraces, a cozy common area and a huge garden, it's easy to hang out, meet like-minded travelers and simply forget time.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
This was probably my favourite hostel in India. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable and the staff/volunteers are friendly and helpful (Shout out to Matt, Sydney, and David). There are a number of common areas with different vibes so there's always a place to hang out. The hostels bar is trendy and does great cheap food and drinks. The hostel offers a ton of tours/activities every single day which helps to make the most of your trip and makes it super easy to make friends. The only downside is that there was a promised pool which was inaccessible.

I would rate it as one of my best finds...good people, clean rooms and bathrooms, lively common areas and the best place to make new friends! What else can u want from a hostel stay... Only dissapointment was the pool area, which i was looking forward to, after seeing its pictures on the websites, is now SHUT!! I hope the management reopens it.

Booked a private room which is separate from the main hostel building, which was fine. We contacted them asking for help on directions to reach the hostel but they never replied. Upon arriving the staff answered questions, but weren’t necessarily friendly. Breakfast was nice, but it took about 40 mins for eggs to arrive after asking about them twice. We also booked the shuttle bus to another hostel in Palolem, which they conveniently forgot about as only two of us signed up. They then claimed it was ‘broken down’ and couldn’t take us, but then after talking to the manager he offered to pay for a taxi there, which was a nice gesture. The pool was closed off which was one of the main reasons why we booked the hostel. Not sure if we would return.

"Indians are not allowed and discouraged." I call it a discrimination by Indians to Indians.
I was touring India with couple of foreigners I met in Europe and Jungle hostel is quite famous among foreigners and I liked the atmosphere. First time I booked along with my american friends and they let me stay after keeping my original income tax identity card and I am surprised that there are almost no Indians in Hostel and receptionist told me they discourage Indians from staying in their hostel.
As an Indian I tend to not carry my passport while travelling in India. All of us went to Hampi and I returned one day before my american friends. Receptionist told me they don't let Indians stay in their hostel and if I want to stay in their hostel, I would have to submit my passport hardcopy which is ridiculous and never heard of india for indians. I told her they have my credit card info and identity card which should be sufficient to fine me for any sort of misadventure. They didnt let me in even after I requesting them multiple times.

Policy of presenting physical passports for check in (even for Indians) is aimed at discouraging Indian's from staying at their properties. Was turned away even after having shared soft copies and multiple IDs... Luckily there are many more better places around that were more than willing to take us in. If the aim is to discriminate Indians, you should just block Indians from booking rooms at your place.

Standard double room was fine- no frills but with AC and fan and away from the main building, with a little garden/terrace in front. Breakfast was fine- hard-boiled eggs, pakora, toast, tea or coffee. Company sometimes very interesting, occasionally lacklustre as in most of Goa- 20-year old "hippies" travelling on Daddy's money and getting drunk every night...on a positive note, staff helpful & organised. Left driver's licence instead of passport & would urge all to do the same should you need any assistance from your consulate)

This is not a biased review, I write all the good & bad about the places I stay. But this is the first time, I'm forced to write my horrible experience in this place & the rude behaviour of the reception staff. Horrible reception staff, big liers, rude. hostel manager doesn't talk to customers it seems & the reception staff doesn't have any clue about their work, forget a warm reception & hospitality, they even lack basic human behaviour. The reception guy to cover up his stupidity, he put the complete blame on us. He is not ready to take any feedback from the customer & they shouted on us by ganging up. The breakfast place is full of mosquitos, at least they need to have basic cleanliness. I understand it is a hostel, I was not expecting luxury, but at-least basic hygiene? We arrived Goa around 6.30am, wherein our check-in was at 2.30pm(1 Pvt Dlx room). We thought of checking the hostel if they allow for early check-in. He was available for the call, we appreciate that. Then he offered us dorm at 800INR (2beds) for a day, then we asked him whether we can early check-in to the same private deluxe room at an additional cost of 1000 INR (for a couple of hours). He agreed & we checked-in. To our bad luck, there was no electricity &water in the room. Around 9am, I went & enquired about the issue& she mentioned that the whole town has no power as it is raining from 3days. We understood & left without any further discussion. Around 2 pm, I got a call from the hotel guy asking me to pay 2000INR for the early check-in & they shouted at us, he was very rude in talking as if pay or leave kinds. I want to the hostel management to answer me these things; if they really care. 1. The price for one night stay at Jungle for a private room was 1620 INR. Logically we could never have agreed to pay 2000 INR for early check-in. This a flat lie from the reception staff to cover u his lie 2. The reception guy didn't allow us to speak to the manager saying they won't speak to the Customer"(Which hotel management runs the place without speaking to their customers? 3. When I asked him about power back-up he said, this is hostel don't expect power back-up here. I may understand partially for the dorms. But for the private room? When you are charging an amount equal to normal 2star? They will have at least a power back for basic lights in the room & water. 4. Why he shouted on us & not ready to take feedback? Finally, he agreed for a price of 1400 INR +Taxes (Which is again the same as booking.com price). More than money, the main thing is reception guy is RUDE, did not allow us to talk to the manager, more than all a lier.

Stayed at the JUNGLE by HostelCrowd for an extended weekend. The Hostel is very well managed. JUNGLE is one of the cleanest hostel you will come across. I got to meet some like minded people at the hostel from different parts of the world - England, France, Spain, South Africa, and India. Made good friends with them. The hostel also helps plan evenings in Goa with your mates. It was fun visiting the Arpora night market and the restaurants with these new friends. I would highly recommend to put up at the JUNGLE by HostelCrowd when in Goa.
