The location is great when the weather's good - unfortunately for us it rained some of the time, the lagoon was churned up and not its usual crystal clear. The rooms were unbelievably dark - heavy wooden shutters that were a pain to close and such subdued lighting that we had to wear head torches whenever we were in the...

Bacalar lagoon is absolutely beautiful, and the environment is pretty cool, but the wifi signal was poor. I think it was rather expensive but we did have a good time. and we used their kayaks the whole morning in the lagoon.

This place was a little hard to find for our taxi driver but we got there in the end. The place is secluded and that's part of its charm, you go here to relax and not to do much at all. Our spanish was and still is very average and most of the people working here didn't speak enlgish, but...

We discover Laguna Bacalar in this friendly eco-resort. 12 villas with at this wonderful site! The place is well mantained, the views of our villa (Tikal and Calakmul) were fantastic. Maybe some thorough cleaning has to be made in the rooms tho have them spotless. Wheather, excellent. Service, just perfect due to the willing attitude of Sergio. Full breakfast is...

First we thought they are closed. We came to the main "entrance" from the carretera Cancun - Chetumal and it was closed with heavy old chains. But then a guy from a small tent nearby got up and slowly (mexican style :) went to open it. Then we drove quite a while on the very bumpy road ... thinking this...

My husband and I arrived in the afternoon after a 5 hour drive from Cancun (granted we stopped for lunch and two rest stops). The highway to Bacalar was excellent, and the entrance is well-marked from the highway. Granted the road into the cabins is not paved, but that is what makes it a get-away from it all. Upon arrival...

I booked this cabana for my girlfriend and I to spend a weekend alone. We arrived at the gate and had to call a employee to gain entrance. The road in was a bit rough, but I'm used to that. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, full of trees and flowering vines. We were the first to arrive for...

We stayed at Kuuch Kaanil one night when we could not get into Rancho Encantado, out first choice. Kuuch Kaanil was a very nice propery, with the best over the water palapa around, with hammocks and places to sit around tables. The rooms are large and the outdoor bathroom / shower is a treat. But the room is sparse, with...

I'm pleased that I stayed here for one night "for the experience"; but glad I didn't book for any longer. It's a beautiful setting but unless you really don't mind bugs, it won't be for you. You really need some Spanish too. Plus side - beautiful setting alongside a lagoon -great food -good service Minus side - the approach road...

Last weekend I went with my friend to Bacalar, we were planning on staying in town but couldn´t find anything what suited us. Back on the highway we saw the sign of Kuuch Kaanil, and thought to give it a try. The road to get there is not very inviting, and we were sure we wouldn´t arrive anywhere, but since...
