Mechanical problems on the airplane, luggage that followed an hour later, missed bus connection, 5.5 hour bus ride beginning at 10:30pm, the "Muppet Movie" being played at 12am on the bus (really!?!!!), a taxi driver who said he knew where he was going....but didn't....a taxi cab that had no working fuel gage, or speedometer, and wheel bearings that were beginning...

We stayed 3 days in this hotel and enjoyed it very much. We the parents relaxed at the hammocks while the kids were busy with the kayaks and the pedal boat. The restaurant has excellent food and the waiters are very helpful and friendly. The rooms in the back have A/C and are very clean. The boat trip to the...

A superb hotel with very competent and helpful staff. The room (we had the laguna one for 4) was beautiful, very comfortable and the fact that it doesn't have aircon is no problem at all as the fans are very effective and you get the wind from the lac. The restaurant is also a great value with simple but good...

The location is amazing! The restaurant is very good and have a good variety of things to choose and prices. The boat tour is awesome and so is the Paddle experience. Its a magical place. The staff is the nicest! The hammocks just in front of the lagoon are the best place to read, relax and enjoy. The rooms were...

I am tempted to give Rancho Encantado a 5 star review, just because their staff is the nicest. Everyone asks you how are you, from the front desk to the gardeners. They really know what great service means. We stayed only for 2 nights in our honeymoon (July 29 - 31). We got one of the front site cabañas, (they...

This is a fabulous place right on the banks of the laguna. The rooms are spacious and clean, the restaurant is excellent serving great food at a good price, all the staff were helpful and friendly. We only spent one night here but would have been happy to stay for longer. It is really peaceful and a wonderful place just...

I read the other reviews for the hotel, I see that they review the Bacalar lagoon rather than the hotel, so I will focus my review on the hotel. In a nutshell, Rancho Encatado is your best lodging option in Bacalar. I was able to visit several other hotels, and I think Bacalar is the best. Akalki is also very...

Was here a day around middle of july. Really nice place, absolutely stunning view. And good priced also. The food from the restaraunt could have been a step higher which would have made it a 5 star. But I reccon most people would have given it a 5 for the food also.

Rancho Encantado delivers on all levels. From the start Isabella made us feel welcome and explained all the amenities including the free use of paddle boarding, kayaks and wi-fi. My review is influenced by the amazing Cabana 8 which has it's own private sun lounges, hammock, king size bed and porch which provide a great view across the lake.. Put...

We are visiting the Yucatan for three weeks and decided to take a mini-trip down to Bacalar and Chetumal. The drive took almost four hours but the roads are good. We stopped twice to get gas and rest but mostly we drove. Be sure to take passports when you travel though Mexico...even mini trips. You can't exchange American money for...

This area, in the southernmost part of the Yucatan Peninsula, is just at the point of developing as a tourist destination for the eco-minded traveler who seeks escape from the larger, often over-developed areas of the northern part of the Peninsula. ... more   less
