What a wonderful hotel, so tranquil, so beautiful. Set within a plantation area, you can see the pretty gardens and flowers from the infinity pool.
The rooms are spacious and very clean, products and everything you need, shower caps, toothbrush, comb, ear buds etc are all available in the bathroom. Great hair dryer and a wonderful powerful hot shower.
We had a garden ground floor room so had a lovely patio area to enjoy but there were mosquitoes in the evening so be prepared. There was a repellent in the room.
The restaurant had a wonderful selection for breakfast, lots to choose from. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The front of house are very sweet and can’t do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The pool is lovely but the service from members of staff isn’t great. We made friends with a member of the pool staff a little man with a wonderful smile, sorry didn’t get his name, But a small tip and he was very attentive with getting our drinks from the bar during our stay.
Be warned they host an all you can eat and drink buffet every Sunday lunchtime from 11 am to 4 pm. Where people from outside the hotel can come and enjoy the food and drink on offer and the use of the swimming pool. This can be very noisy and busy. If you’re thinking of an excursion a Sunday would be a good day to go.
They often hold very large weddings at the hotel during your stay, this can be beautiful to watch and very colourful but can also be very noisy and very busy. Parts of the hotel can be cordoned off to hotel users to accommodate the wedding parties. Lots of people stay at the hotel from the wedding making these times very busy and staff spend lots of time attending to these events, it may not the peaceful, tranquil hotel sold.
They have a lovely spa, good staff, clean and relaxing.
There are two swimming pools, the other is mainly in the shade during the day, nice for those who like the heat but not the rays.
There is a courtesy bus which takes you to the beach from 10 am until 7 pm. The beach is vast and not crowded, the sand is golden and soft. There are some wonderful beach bars. I would definitely recommend going to visit Mish Mar. I do the most amazing fish dishes.
This was our second visit to the Alila hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Goa. Close to bars, restaurants and shops.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
We had very much been looking forward to staying at this hotel as it had come highly recommended by friends. On arrival however we were horrified at the noise level in reception and the situation got steadily worse as we were shown to our room. We were told this was due to a wedding. The noise levels only increased as we walked by the pool where a party was in full swing and once again the noise levels were deafening. Once shown to our room it became clear that far from being able to sit on the balcony, it was too noisy to even stay in our room. The check in staff didn't seem to be too concerned at our justified distress. We asked to see the manager who did advise that the pool party would end around 5.30 that day and the event the following day was taking place in the courtyard so should be a bit quieter. In the meantime he said we could use the pool at the Diwa Club (a separate part of the hotel) and this would be a bit quieter than being around the main hotel building. As a result we spent our first two days at the Diwa Club where you could still here the noise but it was more bearable. This pool however was not nearly as nice as the infinity pool at the main hotel! On our third day the wedding party left and we were able to finally experience what we had paid for and had expected from the start. Our remaining three days were blissful. The hotel grounds are very appealing, we had a fantastic spacious room with great bathroom and good sized balcony. The infinity pool was superb with a lovely poolside bar where we enjoyed two lunches. Breakfasts were very good and we had two delicious meals at the Spice Studio . The restaurants in the evening though were fairly expensive and perhaps that's why they were pretty deserted and as such lacked any atmosphere. There were three very good restaurants close to the hotel and many of the guests seemed to eat at one of these in the evening or at the beach. All the staff were very keen to be helpful particularly the waiter(Spice Studio and Edge Bar) and Velecia. That said, in view of the fact that for our first two days we were 'exiled' to the Diwa Club which we didn't find preferable, we were not offered so much as a complementary drink by way of an apology for our inconvenience. We were fortunate though. During our time at the hotel we spoke to many guests who had experienced back to back weddings for much of their holiday and this had greatly impacted on their enjoyment. As such many told us they would never go back. If the Alila Diwa sees itself as primarily a wedding venue it cannot also be the place to come to truly unwind which is how it is marketed to tourists . It needs to decide. We wouldn't go back unless there was a guarantee at time of booking that our stay would be wedding free. If that guarantee could be made we would be delighted to return.

We were here a few years back and loved everything about the place. Although priced slightly high, the place delighted us with every little detail. Hence we decided to come back here. Sadly, this time around its a disappointing. With delays in getting through the fone to the Alila host, to absolutely rubbery and hard paneer delivered in room dining, to the most uncomfortable mattress leading to severe joint pains, this place surely hasn't managed to keep up. The most frustrating part is the defensive response from the team that all Mattresses are completely new, thereby making the customer feel dumb and outright denying the customer experience. Not just the mattress, the cushions anywhere on any sofa or chair all across the hotel are absolutely devoid of any support or bounce and the staff insist its all new. This is terribly disappointing, and the place is best avoided. If you stay here and sleep on these "new" Mattresses you're surely going to need another vacation to recover from the aches and pains of this one.

The hotel is just beautiful - very Bali inspired design. The pool is stunning, with depths well thought out for children. The gardens are well planted and maintained. Our room had everything we could need, and was cleaned every day to a high standard by Badsha, who created lovely towel animals. The Vivo restaurant had a wonderful selection of food, of every cuisine, and we were made to feel so welcome and looked after every day by all the staff, but especially by Soumen and Sourav. The Chef Purushotam prepared for me the best steak and fish I have ever eaten! Velecia our host was on hand daily to suggest activities for my son, and helped arrange 2 excursions at a very reasonable price. She was a Godsend. We did use the Kids Club occasionally, just to use the chess. Ping Pong and table football. But again the staff there were lovely. The beach was immaculate and quiet, the water so warm and calm. The staff at the shuttle bus were always kind and quick to arrange the bus for us. Yes a lot is made of the weddings at this hotel, it is after all a beautiful setting for one. I did request a quiet room from Velecia away from the main festivities but we were not disturbed as most of the music was finished by bedtime. We had very good sleep all week. The wedding decorations were an added bonus in fact, as the flowers were magnificent. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, but it really is the staff that make this place what it is! Sorry I couldn’t mention by name all those that made our holiday so special.

Alila is an aesthetically pleasing resort. A lot of wood has been used which goes well with rust coloured pillars. Especially at night with warm white lighting, the place has a distinct atmosphere to it. It is the quality of guest relations which also elevates the experience; I cannot remember so much courtesy and friendliness in a large hotel. It is true that there is an impression that the resort is used by large groups and corporate retreats but it is just as suitable for couples, families and solo travelers. The infinity pool is a major attraction and a popular spot at the resort. I used it every evening and in spite of the considerable number of people on the sun loungers, I often had it to myself out with one or two others. There is a poolside bar which is a nice touch.
I had a loft style room on the 2nd floor which had a comforting sloping ceiling in teak. The bathroom was modern and appealing, and this comes from someone with tastes often limited to vintage. The bed was extremely comfortable and made for a lot of relaxation after a few hours at the beach, and then time in the pool. Housekeeping was excellent and unobtrusive. One can see staff working on the exteriors throughout the day, polishing glass windows and so on.
The food is quite good at Vivo, the main restaurant and there is another which opens only for dinner and serves mainly coastal cuisine. There is a complimentary shuttle service to the Gonsua beach but I chose to walk. It was good exercise. Like many beaches in South Goa, Gonsua, adjacent to Majorda is secluded and a great stretch of sand to take in the ocean view and the sea breeze. The resort is very close to Dabolim airport and the pick up and drop, which I entrusted to the hotel was done without any issues at all. I had to depart from MOPA airport in North Goa which is about an hour and forty minutes away. The resort extended the courtesy of a late check out on request which was much appreciated.
This was a sudden decision to travel and I had a lovely time, due to the many things that work so well at Alila Diwa.

A lovely hotel in idyllic surroundings. The bedroom was superb with a large walk-in shower and separate bath. Free water is provided in the rooms and a plus that I haven’t seen before was that a plugged in mosquito repellent was provided. There is a free shuttle to the beach, which is only a few minutes away and the beach is vast and was amazingly clean. Unfortunately we couldn’t swim in the sea as it was red flagged throughout our stay.
The hotel grounds and swimming pool were well maintained. The restaurants were clean and the food was very good. That said, they were under used in the evenings so not much atmosphere. The reason is probably because there are a number of eating/drinking establishments outside the hotel which are a lot cheaper. On that note BEWARE. Drinking in the hotel can work out expensive as I found to my cost. The bar tender opted to give me the dearest options unless instructed differently which I only discovered when signing off my bill at the end of the evening. A bit naughty. That apart, the staff were extremely friendly, approachable and helpful throughout our stay.
The only real negative was that hotel is often used for conferences and weddings and, as such, the tranquility can often be shattered. During our 7 night stay, we experienced a 3 day conference with in excess of 250 delegates, and a 2 day Indian wedding with all that they entail. Added to which, it appears that the hotel is open to none quests for weekend brunches which also gives them access to the pool. Whilst the associated disruption didn’t spoil the break, it did take the edge of it a bit. Incidentally, I would recommend getting up early if you want a sun bed as there aren’t that many.

I recently visited this fantabulous property and boy what a beauty. I have been to many 5 star properties in Goa but trust me this is by far one of the most amazing looking property i havr come across. As soon as you enter you feel you are in some resort at kerala. The mass greenery , birds singing their lovely tunes the serenity all around just leaves you mesmerised . Big courtyards with fountains ,banyan tree, and steps to sit makes you feel you have been taken back to your great grandparents house in the olden times. The resort holds a big pool that overlooks a huge paddy field which looks all the more gorgeous during sunset. The resort is well taken care off lot of cleanliness all around and inspite of greenery being all around hardly you will find any mosquitoes. The rooms too are very spacious and their housekeeping is upto the mark. The only reason for me giving a 4 STAR is its food . The food I felt is not that upto the mark the breakfast spread inspite of being a huge one lacks taste and so does its other restaurant. I wont say that they are too bad but not satisfactory to taste. The quantity too of food served at its various restaurants is also very less ,it just doesnt do justice to the amount charged not that i have a problem with the cost but its portion size are miniscule. However i would still recommend visiting this resort atleast once. The beach is hardly 5 mins from the resirt and their buggy takes you there. Its gonsua beach a very clean white sand beach.

We were a group of 3 families with Children and were on Holiday and opted for Diwa Club side of the Hotel. We cancelled our booking for ITC Grand as this property was recommended to us. No Doubt it was a clean and green property and had big rooms. No complaints on That Part.
We were offered All Day Breakfast at the property restaurant Bistro. When our group used to go for breakfast that is 11 people the restaurant staff was least interested in service. As there was no Buffet for breakfast we had to repeatedly calling him for service and he used to come with hesitation each time. And on one occasion he told the lady how much you guys can eat!!! This had never happened to hs ever in the world.
We all came from a walk from the beach and there were few coconut water lying near the reception side. One of the children went and asked if he can have. The reception lady bluntly refused and took all the coconut water inside the room in case we will fight and steal her precious coconuts. Believe me we paid more than 4 lakhs to stay for three days and we have never regretted about hospitality anywhere in the world.
We also noticed that they are only friendly to foreigners and they don’t want Indians in their property. We will suggest that no Indian should book this property ever. A three star hotel staff will be much more courteous and will not refuse for a 15 rupees coconut water to a child.
The review was only about Diwa Club Alila which is a part of Alila Diwa
Not Recommended - Specially for Indians

Overall great experience. Staff are always very helpful (eg packing breakfast for tours that start before the restaurant opens in the morning). Hygiene standards very good - clean sheets and pillows (no stains whatsoever), clean bathroom amenities. Power plugs in the room have three pins (for UK and Singapore travellers like me) and USB A so no need to bring travel adapters. Spice Corner restaurant on the property serves vey good Indian food!
