We stayed here for two nights while taking a rest day along the GR20. It was a truly wonderful stay and we left very rejuvenated and well fed! The owners went above and beyond to make our stay special and relaxing. The house and rooms are absolutely beautiful and located in a serene wooded setting close to the gare and the trail. The breakfast was delicious, the bed was insanely comfortable, and the hot shower and wifi were very welcome after many days of hiking! Highly recommend this place!
What a unique wonderful experience to arrive at this B&B after doing the GR20 Nord! This place is really cosy and the hosts Henri and Vincent are the most welcoming and helpful people!! They are locals and are passionate about their island! Also, awesome self-made breakfast and best beds! We will come back!
The owner claims he doesn't speak English and is insistent on greeting him in French. When we got to the breakfast room there wasn't much choice of food.(Bread, butter, jam, croissants, yogurt and juice.) We had to specifically request some bread and ask for a coffee twice. All in all, it took 20 minutes after we were seated to get some food. The hotel is in a beautiful location and the room is nice and clean although the ceiling in one part of the room is too low even for our 7 year old.
Our hosts couldn't have been more friendly, sollicitous and gracious, making us feel truly welcome. Arriving during a heatwave, it was pure pleasure to be offered a cool drink on the shady terrace with a view through tall pine trees to the mountains above. The room and bathroom were comfortable and spotlessly clean. The homemade dinner was excellent, and the breakfast was enhanced by Vincent's delicious homemade fruit jams and Henry's perfect homemade yoghurt.
We stayed at Casa Alta only for one night and I honestly wished it would have a longer stay. Vincent and Henri are fantastic hosts. We had dinner and breakfast at the Casa. Everything is delicious and home made. The desserts were amazing. It was both interesting and valuable to chat with Henri and Vincent. They are extremely knowledgeable about Corsica and suggested beautiful hikes that we would not have done without them sharing their unique knowledge with them. Vincent also gave some tips for the balance of our trip and it gave us the opportunity to see things that were pretty unique. I am hoping to be back to Casa Alta and to bring friends with me, This time we will be staying longer to able to do longer hikes always with their advice and guidance. In a week stay in Corsica this was by far our best experience. Merci Henri et Vincent !…
The room was small but delightful. The shower was a little quirky, but the hot water was plentiful. The house is beautifully restored and comfortable. Vincent and Henri do whatever it takes to make you happy there. The food is top quality, and the baked goods delicious. Vincent reviewed our hiking itinerary with us each day and even lent us a local map. Dinner was available on request.à
After ten days on GR20, we discovered Casa Alta purely by chance from a lady at the Vizzavona train station. And we couldn't have expected anything more delightful. The house is huge surrounded by thick forests of pine. The room was super comfy and the living area had so many books to read. The breakfast was the best I had in Corsica. But this place gets highest rating for the hospitality offered by the hosts. I'm surely coming back.
CASA ALTA was our NUMBER ONE of our 11 days in Corse- an absolute winner! Warm welcome with free apéritif (never had that happen anywhere else in Corse) . The location is perfect for hikers; get off the train in Vizzavona and walk 5 minutes uphill to this amazing B&B. Their customer service started even before they met us : We got delayed with our flight so would miss the train to get up there so we had to call from the airport in Belgium and they let us arrive a day later - how welcoming and understanding. greatly appreciated by us who were stressed about the delay and our planning falling apart; The hosts Vincent and Henry give you THE WARMEST WELCOME and are charming, help you in any way possible, they provide hiking maps and give excellent tips. You can even book a flight for 3 people over the island with Vincent's sports plane departure in Ajaccio. Henry is also an excellent host. He gave us a ride (for free!) to a starting point of another amazing hike in the mountains and gave us the option to walk all the way to the b&b or otherwise we could ask the shepherd that delivers cheese to him to give him a ring and he'd come get us. The shepherd had a terrace with an amazing view and we ate wonderful cheese and bread after our walk along cascades and natural pools and had Rosé - it is memory to cherish. Needles to say we walked all the way back after this special lunch . And breakfast... oh my ... sorry to be so lyrical about Casa Alta but is really is wonderful. My expectations were high after reading reviews and they were more than met! All of it was home made : jams , omelet or eggs however you prefer, even yogurt home made, a special kind of cheese cake, delicious breads - heavenly cheese, croissants, pain au chocolat, honey, juices,... the works. The room was quaint and quiet , tastefully decorated, great bed all of it TOP quality and TOP hosts. The only regret we have is that the don't serve dinner :) This is a place that you shouldn't miss ! THANK YOU HENRY AND VINCENT- you both rock :) !…
Located just a few hundred metres from the small settlement of Vizzavona, we really enjoyed our two nights here, taking a rest day in the mid point of the GR20. On our rest day we went to Corte by train, which is easily done and well worth it. The B&B is old but the ensuite bathroom is modern. Linens were nice; as the house is old, it took a while for the hot water to make it up the old pipes, but it gets there eventually! The house has lovely furnishings, and it was nice to sit in the lounge area in the evenings before dinner enjoying the ambiance and a complimentary aperitif. Henri is a delightful host and even though our French is abysmal, and his English also limited, we could make ourselves understood and nothing was too much trouble. We were able to get our laundry done here, which was good. The breakfast is wonderful. Fresh croissant, pan au chocolate, buns and local preserves and honey. Coffee or a selection of teas, along with a choice of juice. We could also order an omelette or other egg. One day there was yogurt and cereal as well. Great value for money. I would not hesitate to recommend this place! Book direct for a better rate. …
This lovely home is the most wonderful stop. What a charming stay! Don’t miss this. A short walk up the hill from the train station. Friendly and warm. Great food. Comfortable and gorgeous. Our favourite!
