We just left this morning and we had a very nice stay. The lobby is beautiful, as is the view of the river. We are pretty adventurous people, so we went on most of the tours. We enjoyed all of them, and thought they were well priced. Here is what you should know...the hotel has some wear and tear but... More

Very cool experience in the Panama rain forest. Took the trip from the resort on the canal to the monkey island. It was well worth it. Also, the noises from the animals in the morning is really quite impressive and should not be drowned out by closed windows and AC. Speaking of AC, I was a bit surprised that they... More

This place is a great idea in principle. But then you get there and have to deal with staff who obviously hate their jobs. The place smells terrible, the restaurant feels like an after thought. The view is impressive, which makes this such a wasted opportunity. Someone should buy it and invest in it properly.

My husband and I read reviews about Gamboa after we had booked, but before we had gotten there. I think giving a well rounded review of both our experience and addressing other people's complaints is important...so I'll give you the pros and cons Cons: -we visited during low season so hours for some attractions and restaurants were a little goofy... This hotel was my first stop on a road trip through Panama. The hotel upon entering even at 11pm at night was beautiful. We checked in swiftly and made our way to our room. All the doors in the hotel are hand carved with different animals. Our room was on the top level over looking the beautiful lake and grounds.... More

We arrived on a Saturday and the hotel was busy. We were welcomed with a beverage as we stood in line to check in. On Sunday everybody left and there were only a few families and couples left. We rented kayaks and paddled to the bridge to sea the large ships in the canal. the hotel is in need of... More

Hotel was very nice. The wide rooms with good bathroom. Restaurants were basic level, but price level was overpriced for food quality. Big disappointment was Embera Indigenous Village activity. It was totally overpriced. One guy just told a little about handicrafts and then we saw few dances and that was all and $55. Duration should be 3 hours but it... More

This hotel was built in 2000 and is beginning to show its age a bit, but do not let that stop you. The location is outstanding, as it abuts the Chagres River where the river enters the Panama Canal. The three-story windows of the lobby overlooking the rainforest offer a spectacular view. Waterfalls provide additional lobby atmosphere. We saw birds,... More

My family and I spend a couple of days a this resort. Initially I was struck by it as a boring place but soon I was proven wrong. There were a lot of nice people. Food was good but not enough variety. Service was ok. Room and beds were clean and constable, the only complain is that room smell humid.... More

This is an old hotel but still located in a fantastic rainforest environment--can't change that. The staff seems less than helpful, lackadaisical. There is nothing around so you are stuck eating the hotel food which is quite good and only a little expensive. When I was there the fancy restaurant had no customers so my wife and I ate all...
