I stayed here with my friend in August. Mateo and Beatrix are such lovely people and did all they could to make our stay special. Mateo drove us around town to show us what was there and very kindly took us to the head of the walking trails the next couple days. We didn't speak any Spanish and Mateo and...

Mateo is a living legend. The B&B is very basic, but it is not the reason to go. Mateo & Sra. Beatrice are hospitality personified. Their home is warm with a welcoming patio and lovely morning coffee & breakfast. Mateo drove us all over Gamboa telling us the history that he has lived. He showed us the old, the new,...

I stayed here for one evening before taking an early ferry the next day to Barro Colorado Island. When I arrived Mateo and his wife greeted me kindly and checked me in, soon afterwards Mateo showed me the monkeys and Toucans that hang out in his backyard! The place is quaint and comfortable, although if you want 5 star accomodation...

We loved sitting on the patio and photographing many bird species, agouti, tamarind monkeys. Mateo and Beatrice are charming lovely knowledgeable hosts. She cooked for us one night. Breakfast was basic and tasty. Be advised there is one small store in town that mainly has junk food. Best to stock up before you arrive in town although you cannot cook....

The rooms are simple but comfortable. We had a double bed with fan, comfortable matress, nice white sheets and thick towels. The fan has not been cleaned in a long time. The was a bookcase and a couple hooks. The room is very well mosquito proofed. No curtains on back windows overlooking forest. The bathroom was clean, door closes properly...

As others have said, Mateo is a fantastic guy who showed us around town and picked us up from various places (Soberania NP, Los Lagartos Restuarant, Gamboa dock) for only $10 for 3 of us. We rented the apartment across the road which despite being a little musty, has some colonial charm that adds to the experience. The only thing...

My friend and I made a reservation to stay here knowing little about the place, choosing it for its excellent proximity to the birding options nearby. We left with new friends, or adoptive grandparents, in Mateo and Beatriz, the couple who run the B&B in their home. Upon our arrival in a taxi from Panama City, Mateo, who retired from...

We enjoyed our one night stay at Matteo's bed and breakfast: the ambiance was peacefull and relaxing, which was perfect after our 3 week-trip around Panama. You can see agoutis and a lot of birds in their garden. Matteo and Beatrice are so kind ! Matteo dropped us off at the entrance of the pipeline road, a famous birding walk....

We are young couple from Europe (Italy / German) and we stayed one night in Gamboa to visit the Soberania park (pipeline road) and to do a tour on the canal and lake gatun. We decided to stay with Mateo and Beatrice in Gamboa and we really enjoyed staying there and meeting them, they are a very nice couple. Mateo...

While the room was extremely basic, the floor was slanted, the wood was rotting, I would still highly recommend this B&B! You can tell that Mateo & Beatrice love what they do and highly enjoy meeting visitors and helping them enjoy Panama and the Gamboa area. Mateo nor Beatrice speak English so I'd recommend having basic Spanish conversation skills to...
