What a beautiful, natural place, with a fantastic story behind it. The family who created and run Undara have done, and do a fantastic job. Even though it was off peak season, we just loved what this gem had to offer. Can only imagine how much better it would be in peak season. We stayed in our van for 3...

We stayed overnight in the powered caravan site, and it was a joy to watch the wallabies hopping around the camp site. We had dinner in the restaurant, and we were very pleased with the fish dinner. The following day we had booked on the 10.30 am tour of the lava tubes. Our guide was Kane and he provided us...

After checking the website, we arrived fir the 1 o'clock tour to find it cancelled. We couldn't stay for the next tour, the following morning. Very disappointed. We weren't the only ones in a similar position. Current tours are 8:00am and 10:30 for the lava tour

We stayed in the tents and loved the experience. Completely surrounded by nature. In the morning we enjoyed the bush breakfast with the locals. Would love to go back and stay a few nights to take advantage of the all the bushwalking opportunities. We also took advantage of the sunset tour package, the views were spectacular!

The tours that are run to the Lava Tubes (you can only visit the tubes on a guided tour) are great, informative, and well worth it. The Lava Tubes themselves are fantastic, and are excellent examples of this particular type of geologic formation. Well worth the time and effort/cost to go there. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

After days on the road, driving between Alice Springs and Port Douglas, we called in on the off chance of a bed for the night. We were allocated a lovely little railway carriage, with plenty of charm and a very comfortable bed. After a swim in the neat little pool, we ate dinner in the restaurant and considered ourselves in...

A two hour guided tour of the savannah landscape, unexpected tropical forest, a huge natural arch and vast underground lava tubes. The guides are knowledgeable and helpful. There are two tours - an easier Archway experience and a more energetic exploration. The easier option is the best introduction, do the other one second if you wish. A couple of hundred...

We stayed 1 night in one of the train carriages. The carriage was beautifully renovated and clean. Our night was comfortable. We ate at the restaurant/bar; it was good food for a normal price although in our opinion the portions could be somewhat bigger. We attended the Archway Explorer Tour which was worth the trip to this remote land. However,...

The guide for the tour, Harold, was very informative and passionate about the tour giving us lots of information about haw the tubes ere formed and the history of the national park. UNDARA EXPERIENCE – AUSTRALIA’S ACCESSIBLE OUTBACK! Only 3½ hours drive from Cairns and four hours from Townsville in Tropical North Queensland Australia, Undara can be easily accessed via the Savannah Way by conventional vehicle and is situated right on the edge of the Undara Volcanic National Park. The Undara Lava Tubes are a world class natural geological phenomenon. Huge tubes formed approximately 190,000 years ago; molten lava drained out under a thick cooler crust, leaving a series of long, hollow tubes. Today, Undara’s highly trained Savannah Guides conduct small group tours from the natural Bush Resort, into the lava tubes where visitors marvel at this incredible geological wonder.
