Malemi Hotel is situated in the heart of Lesvos. Just 500 m. From the traditional fishing town of Skala Kallonis, Malemi Hotel is an ideal location from where one can set off on various activities and travel around the island. The hotel was named after the initials of the names of the owner's George Kapsalis three daughters. This family-run hotel was set up in the late 80's and since then it hasn't stopped developing. Our goal at Malemi Hotel is to make you feel as comfortable as at home and at the same time serve you discreetly but essentially. There is an interesting diversity of people who are attracted in Malemi. In spring and autumn all the pure essence of birdwatching in Lesvos is here. Malemi Hotel has been a popular birdwatching destination for more than a decade. People from all over the word, both amateur and proffesional nature lovers, have been visiting us repeatedly and have been using the hotel as a base for their activities and research. The bird-log is here, the repeaters & the proffesionals who guide the >, all the information that one can need will be talked through during the dinner at Malemi. For more information about birdwatching in Lesvos and other eco-activities see our special section in this site. In the summer there are those who want to enjoy the sun, the pool, the facilities for the kids and the popular beach destinations around the island of Lesvos. There are also others that combine summer holidays with seminars and research and they choose Malemi for its peace, quietness as long with its facilities. Whatever your purpose is for visiting Lesvos, you are more than welcome! The > Family

The hotel is run by George, his wife Effy and his daughter Micky supported by friendly and efficient staff. All the rooms re comfortable but we generally upgrade to one of the suites - which we did again on our 5th stay this September. The Malemi has everything that you need for a relaxing holiday including a large swimming pool and a smaller shallow one for children, tennis courts, table tennis and two bars The food is fabulous with a wide and varied buffet breakfast and the evening meals ae also buffet style with masses to choose from and excellent quality. The herbs and many of the vegetables are grown organically by the hotel. At the rear of the hotel Dimitri (George and Effy's son in law) looks after a large collection of animals and birds - almost a zoo! The rooms are clean and bright and during our 2 week stay, the towels and bed linen was changed 6 times! The Malemi Hotel was the first hotel to cater for birdwatchers and general naturalists in Lesvos and remains the first choice. It is only 200 metres from the beach and within easy walking distance of Kalloni pool and the Christou estuary. The salt pans are a little further but still within walking distance.

Just arrived back from a week in Melemi hotel where my friend and I stayed and had a really enjoyable, relaxing week. This lovely traditional Greek hotel is walking distance to the beach and also to the small fishing village of Skala Kallonis where there are restaurants, bars and shops. From its central position on the island of Lesbos, visiting nearby resorts was very easy and worthwhile. Car hire was very cheap and can be organised easily by the hotel. The hotel itself is charming and everyone is made to feel very welcome by the amazing family who own the hotel and put their heart and soul into it. The room was comfortable with a small fridge, free safe, air conditioning and clean bedding. There is a nice swimming pool with loungers and pool bar. There is a table tennis table, snooker table, tennis court and a lovely area outside the restaurant where it is nice to sit and chat. The hotel grounds are filled with fruit trees and much of the tasty food provided is made from food produced within their own grounds. The kids will love the play area, fish pond and the many animals that are kept in the grounds. This is a wonderful family run hotel which I would defiantly recommend. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Now on our last night, and what a great relaxing week we've had. This is a great place to relax and unwind. The pool is quite large with enough space for the sunloungers. There is a small bar next to the pool which serves most drinks you could possibly want. They had no Malibu when we asked, but within an hour there it was. Now that's service. Food. Pretty much all home produced from the smaller holding that the family owns. Really tasty dinners, different every night. Breakfast was more the usual cereal, breads, croissants, eggs, cooked ham, cheese, ham. The same every day, although you'd never go hungry. Room. Fairly comfortable. We were lucky as it was our wedding anniversary and we were upgraded to a larger room. An unexpected surprise was the free air-conditioning and the free safe in the room. Why can't all hotels have this? Owners/Staff. This is a family run concern. Young Micky seems to take on most of the responsibility on her broad shoulders, reception, life guard, bar tender, front of house, and does a fantastic job. Really nothing is too much trouble. Dad, George, tends to look after the admin side of things, but is always very welcoming. The grounds are well kept by the groundstaff. The family keep a number of animals on site, goats, horses, llama, deer, and many many caged birds. Location. As has previously been said, it is only 2/3 minutes walk to the beach and a further 6/7 to the village centre. Here you'll find a mini-market and 6 or 7 tavernas, and an ice cream parlour All in all we would highly recommend this hotel.

Just came back from a lovely holiday with my wife and 2 kids. The food was really good, even better was the amazing hospitality of the owner, his wife, daughter and the rest of the family. My kids loved the playground, the animal and that the beach and village where close enough to walk, but far enough to be away.

We arrived at the Malemi about 21:30 and was shown to our room and invited to unpack and have food. The location of the hotel is just 5 munites from the beach. The first part of the beach you reach is not very nice, but further along it is a little better. The beach is not well kept, broken twigs and branches all over the area and the sea bed is covered with seaweed. The hotel was clean and very pleasant, the rooms spacious with a generous bathroom. We had a lovely stay and the food was absolutely amazing. The area is VERY queit with just a couple of shops and tavernas and nothing else. It isn't what I would class as a tourist holiday destination unless you wish to simply lay by the pool each day. There was zero music which is a shame, the outdoor dining area would realy benefit from a little quiet traditional greek music playing in the background as it is a very traditionally greek type of hotel catering for many locals. The pool area was clean and the sun loungers amazing with a little movable canopy to shade your head (Brilliant), again there was no music, a little quiet background music is relaxing. Each weekday between 9-11am local children children come to the pool for swimming lessons!!! This, although not too disturbing, was a surprise as we did not expect it - likewise around 4pm each day local youths came to the pool in groups of 6-7 which at times was a little awkward and noisy. The rooms were "cleaned" regularly but we did have to ask for clean towels on one occasion and the second time our towels were not changed we didn't bother asking as we didn;t want to make a fuss. The balcony was not swept or cleaned at all during our 2 week stay, we collected tree debris etc ourselves and put it in the bin. Facilities were good, a safe in the room which is free of charge, great aircon, hairdryer and a really handy airer on the balconcy for drying clothes - Thank you! We found that often there was nobdy at the bar during lunch and dinner times so had to wait a while until someone was free from collecting pates. Water was provided with most meals which was welcomed. There is limited driks available on AI (which we knew) Ouzo, wine, beer - but the wine did run out one night so we had no choice but to drink water as we are not ouzo/beer drinkers but also no apology. Overall the Malemi is a family run hotel, laid back and rustic. The cleanliness was a good standard and again, the food amazing (I never knew it was possible to pack so much flavour in to a stuffed corgette - Superb). The area is peaceful and quiet. Micky works so hard and seems to be the backbone of the whole place, lifeguard, receptionist, chatting to guests and informing us of ceremonies and celebrations that were going on, she was a fountain of knowledge about the island and its assetts.

Malemi Organic Hotel was built by George Kapsalis and his wife Effy in 1987. The big hearted family exudes Greek charm, hospitality and maintains their true identity: a sustainable family owned hotel. Eighty percent of the food I enjoyed in their cafe was grown in their farm behind the hotel and the other 20 percent was locally sourced from the island. Each morning while working with their honey bee colonies, I saw the staff tending to the farm, it’s animals and collecting the needed produce for the day. From day one they made me and my research team feel like family! Their passion for their work and beautiful country radiates in everything they do. Thank you for taking great care of our team for two months of bee research. Memories that will last a lifetime. (George, Effy, Mickey, Maria, Faso, Vaso, Shayan, the wonderful housekeepers, gardeners, and kitchen staff!) I would recommend this hotel without reservation and look forward to returning one day to share my experience with family. It is worth noting that Skala Kallonis is also a small quaint beach “village” with a plenty of quiet beachside restaurants and a few shops. The food service in Skala Kallonis was outstanding! Sampo was our favorite, thank you Pan and Virgos! If you need day to day items you can most likely get them in Skala, but if not the town of Kalloni is a 10 minute taxi from the hotel. Kalloni has a grocery store, boutiques, other restaurants and is an excellent starting point if traveling around the island!

Came here with a group to do some research and the staff are very accommodating and friendly! The hotel is beautiful and there are animals everywhere, which I love. Food is great and hotel is within walking distance of several towns if you need to go to the store or want to go shopping. Very nice place!
