Stayed for 8 nights in March 2018 and had an upstairs room on the garden side. Very quiet. Nice-sized room, the air conditioning worked great and it was very clean. There was only one day that the towels were not changed but that was not a problem for us. Appreciated the terrace with small table and two chairs. The staff was friendly and helpful and I loved the Siamese type cat, Simba, who could always be found hanging around. There was free parking for the days we had a rental car, and we always found a spot out front. There is also a bus stop down the street and just around the corner, and it was very easy to get to St. Paul and St. Leu, for example. Buses are cheap and very clean and comfortable. Although there is not too much to do in Saline Les Bains, the hotel is located within walking distance to a few restaurants, a grocery store, pharmacy, bakery, etc. It was fast and easy to get to the beach where you can walk and swim for hours. The hotel loaned us makes and tubas to snorkel. It is like an aquarium with so many varieties of colourful fish! The evening ambiance is lovely being able to eat poolside by candlelight. The food is good and service rapid, sometimes even too rapid if you are not in a hurry. The swimming pool is small but nice, although don't count on tanning too much as there is a lot of shade from the palm trees. Best to go to the beach for that. What we especially appreciated was the fact that the hotel provides breakfast at any time you ask, even at 3 a.m. - just tell them the night before. Great when you have early morning activities (ULM/helicopter tour, a trek to the volcano or early return to the airport!) Globally we really enjoyed our stay here. We just noticed that the pool area needs some renovations. The pool edges need to be cleaned (currently green) and the wood furniture really needs to be re-varnished. Hopefully this is only because it was the end of a particularly rainy and humid season and that they are waiting for better weather to make these improvements!…
I stayed at Le Swalibo for two nights, and had a nice stay. I ate dinner there both nights, and it was very tasteful and delicious. I thought it was so cozy with the house cat wandering around, and taking a little nap on one of the chairs now and then. Swalibo offered me to book transportation from the airport to the hotel for 50 euros, which I later found out is quite a good price, unless of course you take a public bus. The beach is just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Not the best beach, as there are a lot of big pieces of coral, which makes it a little uncomfortable to lay on on your towel, or walk on barefoot. But of course it depends on what you are used to. All staff I met was very friendly and helpful, and most of them spoke English, which I later would find out, is not so common on the island regardless of age.…
We travelled with Onyx to La Reunion and I thoroughly recommend this travel company for attention to detail. We stayed in the friendly Hotel Swalibo where the staff could not do enough for you. We had rooms overlooking the pool-which were clean and functional. The nearby beach was perfect. We ate in the hotel on quite a few evenings and the food was delicious. The New Years Eve party was a real high light-great good dancing fireworks champagne-great atmosphere-we loved it. A holiday we will never forget.
Very Beautiful Lagoon style pool, room are good but small. Services are Good. One Jacuzzi complementary or on the house. Walkable distance of Beach and shopping mall. Reunion Island is part of France and EU member.
Loved this well run hotel near the beach. Good, professional service. Wi FI in the rooms, high speed, free of charge. A convenient parking right in front of the property. Cleanliness 100%. The reception is 24 hours, very friendly and professional. Great breakfast in the morning with an amazing choice of baked cakes and croissants and fresh fruit and yoghurt. Fresh juices and breads. Loved this place.
I was looking for a place I would find comfortable as a solo traveler to spend some time by the beach! The hotel is very retro in style i.e. older rooms but very charming and I was lucky enough to get a single room on one of the balconies. The service is fantastic and it is relaxed to chill in the downstairs area alone on a sofa. The bar is open 24 hrs! There is even have a jacuzzi you can book for a 30 mins private session. The small but lovely pool is surrounded by lovely green foliage and it is a chill oasis before hitting the beach! A real gem!
Arrived on the 31st for a three night stay. Because of New Years, we had to book with New Years dinner included - which proved to be awesome. Best food we had during a weeks stay on Réunion. The same goes for the lunch and others dinners. Staff is super nice and helpful, and most speak both french and english.
We stayed in Hotel Swalibo for one night and we were so glad we chose this hotel. It is pretty, cute, with lots of character and staffed with extremely friendly and cheerful folks who are happy to help make our stay comfortable. From the reception to the f&b service, we were really touched by how the staff helped make it a great stay. One example: we were out late in the night completely forgetting that Reunion restaurants close early. So, nothing was open on our way back to the hotel. The restaurant @ hotel was also shut. :-/. But, when he saw our hungry faces, the person who was manning the desk/bar that night went in to the kitchen and got us some yummy bread and cheese and some amazing hot chocolate. It was an easy and simple thing to do, but something that many an establishment misses out on. The rooms are comfortable and are located around a beautiful pool. The property, though not big, has enough trees and flowers to make it very tropical and beautiful. It is a short 3-4 minutes walk to the beautiful clear Plage de la Saline. Also comes with free access to the facilities of Planch'Alizé(which saves some euros). Another plus point - Simba, their majestic hotel cat. :) Will strongly recommend the hotel. I will certainly be back. :)…
The hotel is not cheap, but it does bring quite some value for the money. It's clean, staff is friendly, rooms are large, there's free wifi, there's as (small) pool, it's in a quiet location, it's close (<400m) from the beautiful beach and it has a deal with Planch'Alizé - a place at the beach where you can get beds, snorkling gear, etc. free of charge. The bus stop for the "car jaune" is close by, so it's easy to visit the aquarium in Saint Gilles or the market in Saint Paul. If I ever come back to Réunion, it's likely I'll be staying here again. Booking via their website was at a 20euro/night discount to booking-sites.
We landed here for our first week of honeymoon and we really like this little gem lost in vegetation. It's full of character! Although the hotel is quite small, we felt at peace, surrounded by luxurious vegetation and little geckos. We had a room on a first floor, with a little private terrace, which allowed us to have cocktails or breakfast in peace. The hotel is located on a very quiet street, just 200 meters away from fantastic beaches west facing for those amazing sunsets. The parking area is quite small but you can easily find places round the corner so it is not an issue. Something to consider if you rented a car and would be charged for cleaning, the place is so packed with birdlife your car will get covered in bird poop... The rooms are clear, tidy and well decorated but the bathrooms need modernizing. However our room was not very well soundproofed (get ready to be woken up early by all these crazy birds!!) The swimming pool is really small but perfect for a last swim at any time of the day or night. the staff are really friendly and smiley and the service is really good. The food is good but that is to say it's on a par with the other restaurants in the area and we recommend getting out and trying a bit of everything. Positives and negatives considered we wouldn't think about going elsewhere the next time we go to Reunion!…
