The hotel from the outside looks really beautifull even stunning i must say that i love that, the backyard is really green everywhere you look. But the hotel inside is a totally different story. I must say that this is the worst bed i have slept in. I had to sleep at the floor literally. I can't remember a bed that bad. The room itself wasn't inviting at all. Too dated the furniture with scratch all over. The bathroom is more inviting than the room. The pool area, is an inside pool by the way, has its flaws too. Now the breakfast, it has a very poor variety of cheeses as well the hams. Very poor choices, the pancakes were a joke and no omelette station, only a ham omelette and it was very dry to my taste. The only thing remarkable on this breakfast is the way they serve the yogurt. The rest is better to forget. At the checkout they didn't ask me about our stay or how was our night, only, it's all paid we hope to see you soon. Take your guess... i fairly give this hotel 3 stars, and they need to improve to get there, but not more than that...…
This hotel is located about 15/20 mins drive from the airport, way up on the island (you may feel your ears pop with the altitude, on the drive up). It is quite isolated, even though there is a tiny village near it (5 mins walk, it has an ATM, a church and a few shops). There is also a bus stop very near, with regular buses to/from Funchal. As for the hotel, it has good facilities and a nice decor. The indoor pool looked inviting but did not get a chance to try it. The room was nice, fairly small but very clean. Good bathroom with a large shower and strong water pressure. Reception staff was friendly and helpful. It has a restaurant that serves a nightly buffet, for €18 plus drinks, per person. It finishes at 2130 so if you are planning to eat after that, it s best to make other arrangements. Breakfast was busy, with plenty to choose from.…
Very good and large choice of food, buffet style for dinner and breakfast as well. Clean and large rooms. Wifi was fast. Possibility to have an early breakfast; gluten-free option also available. Several bars in the vicinity to taste local poncha.
Nice hotel in a little village. Very fine employees in the hotel who wants to help you with everything. When I became ill (appendix) they arranged a room in another hotel next to the hospital for my family without extra costs. Splendid action!.
All though a place like this is usually way out of budget for people like me, a good offer made two nights here affordable and I absolutely loved IT. Santo da serra is a really nice village in general and the hotel was just a cherry on the cake. All though it's situated up in the mountains, it's still only 10 minutes from the coast. The hotel staff was a delight and the breakfast was Super-duper!
