Welcome to your island getaway, the alluring green one. Every Octant is a tribute to its location. They are places where you will find care and attention, peace and freedom, with no time constraints. As well as rare emotion, in-depth knowledge, and unique encounters and experiences that you will remember forever. Here, in the Furnas Valley, the island’s ancient volcano is still bubbling hot. Here, at the place with the highest concentration of hot springs in Europe, the contemporary architecture blends harmoniously with the unique natural beauty arising from the quenturas beneath the surface. With hotel having dynamic thermal pools open round the clock; both indoors and outdoors, we give pride of place to well-being and a deep reconnection with nature. The 10 spa treatment rooms will be the ideal complement, especially after visiting the surrounding routes and trails. It's just that while the views and local experiences will recharge your batteries, our treatments are the pinnacle of relaxation on this well-deserved vacation — and you do deserve it, don't you? To ensure your unrivalled comfort, without ever having to leave your seat, the À TERRA Restaurant will show you the very best of our local produce, cooked in a wood-fired oven, in the Josper or naturally, in ovens dug out over the hot springs. From the best locally produced meats, to a selection of fish from the fish market and the freshest greens, travel through the original traditions of the Azores, with a true flavour of the island: if you savour it slowly, for a long-lasting memory. This is what it means to be free. It is having the time for what matters, turning it into good memories, and returning to them over and over again.

Octant Hotels Furnas is celebrated for its cozy atmosphere and prime location, making it an ideal base for exploring Sao Miguel. Guests rave about the spa, thermal pools, and the sumptuous breakfast buffet, although some suggest improvements in maintenance and service speed. The hotel's cleanliness consistently receives high marks, with the tidy pools and rooms particularly highlighted.
Although service is generally seen as professional, some guests report occasional lapses. While the rooms are well-favored for their amenities, their size and dated feel have been critiqued. Finally, opinions on value for money are mixed, with some finding it overpriced.

Detailed Reviews
I have to say that out of the many, many hotels we have stayed at over the years, this one rates as one of the best. From the moment we arrived we felt this sense of calm. The lady at the front desk welcomed us like it was her own home. The amenities in the room were the best we’ve ever had. I’m not saying others may have experienced better but for us they were amazing. Bath robes, slippers, Marshall blue tooth speaker, coffee pod maker, SMEG kettle and special glass bottled water. The most impressive was attention to the ECO world. No small throw away shampoo/conditioner bottles, they used only glass or washable glasses and paper bags in the garbage bins instead of plastic. The lobby always had 2 kinds of flavoured water and the pool area had nice cold water. The breakfast had several healthy options from local cheese and bread, (gluten free if you ask), local yogurt, chia, pumpkin, sunflower seeds and gogi berries. Can’t forget the egg choices (custom made if you choose), fruit, other cereals, bacon etc. We were able to check in early and were given the option to purchase the breakfast for 15 Euros. We didn’t, but after seeing the breakfast the next day we wish we had. One of our regrets is not trying the restaurant for dinner - next time. The thermal pools are so relaxing sitting at 40 Celsius along with dry and wet saunas. Our only regret is we didn’t stay more than 3 nights but....we will be back! I also want to say the breakfast staff were wonderful!!!

I have travelled considerably and must say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
The staff were helpful yet unobtrusive. The room was spotless and had additional items such as the Nespresso machine, fridge and complimentary soft drinks.
I thoroughly enjoyed the thermal pools and spa facilities.
I had visited local restaurants on my stay on the island and had made efforts to try the local foods and cheeses. I needn't have bothered the breakfast buffet at the hotel had the local pineapple and quality local cheeses, breads and jams included.
May I also point out that although I had the impression when booking that this hotel may be isolated it actually sits just at the edge of the town with views over manicured gardens.
All in all excellent.

one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in. cannot describe in words the Spa experience, the 40 degrees outdoor pool in the Furnas Azores. The staff is incredible and all share the love for what they do. We stayed 5 days and everyday was amazing. The Housekeeping team always made sure we had impecable room, free minibar, always gresh towels and bathrobes. there was alwyas enough to do. The experience manager Nuno will make eveything possble for you and will show you azores like a local. The restaurant and bar has an amazing vibe and the breaksfast staff are just kind and will make your days start perfectly. we absolutely loved the Hotel facilities but it is the staff that makes the difference. they are just 5 stars. A place that i will never forget and will 100% go back. Thank you also to Laisa e Ana from the fornt desk for an amazing recomendations and check in.

Where do I begin when singing the praises of this boutique hotel? First.. the staff! They truly make a great place an amazing place! I reached out a day in advance notifying them of an injury & requesting a room near reception & inquiring about the services of a chiropractor nearby. When I arrived the next day, the staff instantly recognized me (the injured foot & crutch were a giveaway) & they kicked into "assist mode". They seated me & did my orientation on the spot, explaining everything without walking me around. hey provided me with the very first room next to reception & had ice bags ready for my foot. They arranged for room service for my dinner & checked on me frequently. I was overwhelmed with how kind, accommodating & gracious the staff was. They helped me to cancel flights, rental cars, change hotel accommodations, etc since my travel plans needed to be altered due to my injury. A special shout of gratitude to Ana, Debora, & Liza! They truly made a tremendous difference! And I know I'm forgetting a couple of front desk staff - sorry! Since I couldn't sightsee, I took full advantage of the spa area & wet rooms. The spa services were unique & very good. A big thanks to Katya & Sebastian! The thermal spa area was fabulous & I'm sure that this environment helped to speed up my recovery from my injury! The food at A Terra, their on-site restaurant? Magical! Healing! Creative! After 4 weeks of traveling in Portugal, I was missing my veggies & had overdosed on bread. A Terra had such amazing dishes with a heavy emphasis on veggies, including a pea soup that was one of the best soups I've ever had in my life. I only wish I could have spent more days there so that I could have tried everything on the menu! The breakfast buffet (included in the room fee) allowed you to eat as healthy as you wished or you could take advantage of the pastries. The room was lovely with scrumptious, plush robes and towels and zen mood lighting, and a pillow menu. What more could you ask for???

Furnas is great if you want to relax, or use it as a base for car touring or short hikes. There are two main hotels in town, this one and the fancier one next to th botanical garden at the other end of town, the Terra Nostra. The advantage of the Terra Nostra is that admission to the garden is free if you stay there, but its only 10 Euro and while it is very nice, once may be enough. The Octant is much less money and not as stuffy a place.
The Octant (aka the Furnas Boutique Hotel) is maybe 70 rooms, a noce indoor and semi outdoor restaurant, and two pools fed by th natural hot springs, one indoor, once outside. Very quiet and peaceful. Also has a spa, we didnt use it. The breakfast (included) was varied and very good, buffet style, or omelettes on order. Very pleasant helpful and friendly staff throughout the hotel. Helpful concierge too. We were pleased we decided to stay there instead of the Terra Nostra, and we would go there again.
Furnas itself is a pleasant little town, a few places to eat in town and nearby if you want to get out of the hotel. Not haute cuisine, but decent seafood and cheap by US stabdards. Driving is easy if slow, lots of curvey roads. The Island itself is very nice, basically manicured, they keep it spotless, and the plantings on the sides of the roods and in the frequent rest areas are fabulous. Hydrangeas everywhere!! Defiantly worth gong to the other side of the Island to check out the caldera and the lakes too, beautiful views.
Note: plenty of free parking (at least in early June). Most of the staff had at least adequate English

+1
Perfect hotel for a few friends to getaway from the hustling and bustling. We were welcomed by smiles and a shot of alcohol - gin? whiskey? I am not sure, but it was super sweet and everyone loved it. The ambiance and decor has a rustic, industrial feel to it, but the aroma was definitely spa infused scent. Our rooms were ready and we hurried to drop everything off and enjoy one of their natural pools. It felt amazing to enjoy the sunshine and just relax. Amenities were great and their breakfast was out of this world, IMO. Everything is set up in the dining area and everything looked and smelled absolutely so fresh! I know that didn't make complete sense, but you get the idea. Loved their prosciutto and local soft cheese, made my own museili bowl with fresh pineapples (this island is known for their pineapples - SO SWEET!!!), and omg....their fresh bread and butter. I could eat it all day and night! If only that was an option, lol. We had dinner twice at the hotel and celebrated our friend's birthday. Like their breakfast, dinner options were delicious and generous portions. Room service was even better after a long day of hiking, it surprised me that it took them less than 40 minutes for our order when they had a full dining room. This hotel is also in walking distance to the Geysers. You can see and smell the steam floating to the air while you're at the outdoor pool. Nice that it's located minutes away from the geysers and gives a chance to walk around the neighborhood.

This place is fabulous, far exceeded my expectation. From the welcoming check in the staff could not be more friendly.
The room was 5 star- very comfortable bed, plenty of storage, great shower, small fridge with some complimentary soft drinks/bottled water and a nespresso machine. What more could you want.
How about an amazing spa. I used the indoor geothermal pool, gym and sauna a lot over my short stay. A big selling point for me was 24hr gym which contained modern cardiovascular equipment, good selection of dumbells and some weight machines. The whole spa/gym area was spotless as was the entire hotel.
The breakfast buffet spread covered all the bases and the dining/bar area was a pleasure to hang out in.
Complimentary iced tea/naturally flavoured water readily available was another great touch.
In summary I was gutted to leave

We had an excellent stay in this hotel !
All members of the staff were very dedicated and did all to accomodate us the best they could.
Excellent restaurant À Terra with very fair prices, with nice options if you want a light diner with local wine they recommand. We advice to teste the Cozido !
Breakfast has an excellent choice of cheeses and pastries/drinks change every day. A huge thank you for the team who prepared us a very nice take away breakfast the early morning we checked out. Really appreciated.
The SPA with the outdoor/indoor pools opens 24hours so you’ll always find a quiet Time for yourself.
Only thing is that if you go to the gym and want to enjoy the pools right after you have to go back to your room as the hotel résidents are not allowed to use the lockers.
The lobby market could have a little bit more products to sale.
Overall 10/10 !

For our 1 week of vacation we had chosen the Octant Hotel in Furnas, mainly because of its rather central location with respect to the islands geography. Generally we were satisfied with our choice. The hotel was providing good value, a very good breakfast, thermal pool and good and clean hotel room. After 1-2 trials we decided to avoid the hotels restaurant. The menue was rather limited and starters, desserts and alcoholic beverages were rather overprized in comparison to what was charged in other good restaurants on the island (e.g. 4 scoops of rather very normal ice cream for 16 Euro !!). Fortunately Furnas has at least 3-4 other good restaurants with nice local atmosphere in walking distance to this hotel. The hotel service was very good. On the departure date at 4am we had the opportunity to have a coffee and some cake before leaving. Furthermore the hotel was providing free parking for our rental car, also on some days the capacities in the parking lot were a bit stretched...
Overall we can recommend the Octant hotel for a 1 week stay on Sao Miguel with the above mentioned small limitations.

The property overall takes the design cues from the nature that surrounds it which makes it feel of-place.
The room has nice and thoughtful decor.
The pool areas are nice but can get crowded late afternoon or early evening as people check in and go straight to the pool.
The pool water is filtered hot spring water so it doesn’t smell. The indoor pool is a comfortable temperature, the outdoor pool isn’t heating and is a refreshingly cool temperature for a hot day.
The bed was comfortable.
The place is quiet, there is a little little road noise but it’s not a big deal.
The breakfast was great, there was a large selection (too many to list) and all the food was good quality and taste.
There is tea available in the lobby.
There were bikes available to rent by the day of half day.
The shower in our room overflowed onto the floor each shower; we told the front desk but they either didn’t do anything or couldn’t do anything about it (not sure which) but they just gave us more floor towels.

Hi Jamie G!
All rooms are equiped with hair dryers, yes!
Dieter
Terra Nostra was great but turns your bathing suit orange with the iron .The pools at Furnas Boutique hotel were great. Please note they are black and a bit disconcerting at first. There a lovely thermal pools all over the island. The west coast has a great oneTermas da Ferraria . Worth the drive
Yes it’s a beautiful area to walk around and hike! Enjoy!
