This was our second stay and well worth it. They added air conditioning which was necessary given the high 30s temperatures. The open-air bathroom/shower (screened) is wonderful. The pool is also nice. The food was good. While we were there most meals were off of a small menu, only one or two buffets. Full meals with soup, salad, entree, vegetables,...

1) The room: was beautiful. Found the bed very very hard. One of our worst to sleep on. 2) The food: we only stayed 2 nights but had breakfasts there, which were fine, and 2 suppers which were delicious! And lots of it! 3) The area: we were unable to walk around and "bird" so I was a bit disappointed...

The Cabana was more or less what I expected, although nylon sheets in Costa Rica was a bit of a surprise, I did feel there was a lack of privacy, as our screened outdoor toilet was on the join of main walkways. I was quite happy to share the loo with the green glassfrog that joined us there in the...

We were attracted to Cerro Lodge by the very positive Trip Advisor comments and the claims made on their web-site with specific regard to the proximity of Carara National Park and the abundant birdlife in the grounds. This was the last lodge on a three week stay in Costa Rica and we had decided not to hire a vehicle for...

We were searching for a place to stay for one night near Carara National Park. We found Hotel Cerro Lodge on TripAdvisor and luckily were able to book one of the last open rooms. The hotel was a little tricky to find--the turnoff from the main highway was not clearly marked and it was ~3km off the road, but so...

I chose this lodge because I wanted to take photographs of birds, and whilst I am not a dedicated bird watcher, I was keen I was no match for the other guests, equipment often blocks the viewing area in the restaurant, and the unsupressed enthusiastic cries of the audience seemed to defeat the object. The service in the restaurant was...

Hotel Cerro Cerro is a small Hotel/Ecolodge in a quiet wooded area away from the noise of the highway. The combination reception and restaurant building offers great views of the forest as well as the ocean and Nicoya Peninsula in the distance. There are numerous bird feeders adjacent to the restaurant which are regularly replenished with fruit. The many colourful...

When we were researching places to stay for our Costa Rica trip, there seemed to be limited choice in the vicinity of Carara National Park but Cerro Lodge seemed to have good reviews so that's where we opted for. After visiting cold and windy Monteverde, arriving here was something of a shock as the temperatures were in the high thirties,...

We stayed at Cerro Lodge as a stopover during our Costa Rican travels. It was a nice clean hotel with good, but basic food. Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to see the birds that were described in other reviews. The location is a but secluded but it is close to the "crocodile river" and there are several tours you...

The name is a bit of a misnomer as I believe it's a lodge rather than a hotel. Having said that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spacious, including a generous bathroom. All rooms located in seperate small blocks (max 3 per block) with winding access paths. Large open air dining with tea and coffee available from dawn...
