We stayed at the El Tucano in December which we thought was the end of rainy season - wrong! Even though we had mucho rain, we had a fabulous time exploring the local area with Frank Tours, the local guide. We saw lots of wildlife, and amazing vegetation and birds. Costa Rica surprised us. In this area it is largely...

We just got back from staying at El Tucano and had a really great time. The hotel is very comfortable and situated in a beautiful setting - it seemed as if we were in the middle of the jungle. The staff on the whole were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are generous and clean. The only minor criticism I...

My wife and I spent the initial 3 days of our honeymoon at the El Tucano resort. Like people said earlier - this resort is a bit out in the boonies so don't stay here expecting a big party and tons to do in walking distance. You're going to need a driver. This is not a bad thing though as...

We loved El Tucano! It is out of the way of the La Fortuna hubub, but close enough to day trip it. We rented a car in Quepos and drove to Quesada which took most of a day. It is a scenic trip to say the least! The spa is mostly a Tico resort, which was appealing to us as...

Nice Spa and Hotel where you can pamper yourself with a mud wrap, and anything else from a pedicure to a massage and beyond. Soaking in the stream or in the baths of thermal springs or swimming in their pools are also available. High in a local tree you can watch the Montezuma birds nesting and hopefully as we saw,...

We spent three night s at the Occidental El Tucano. The hotel is a bit separated from any community as it is located by hot springs in a more rural area. There are a variety of rooms with larger rooms on the higher ground and smaller rooms closer to the pools. We had a larger room even with a back...

1. The hotel is isolated. This is both good -- you aren't exposed to the poverty of Costa Rica, and you're in the countryside -- but also bad-- it takes a long while to get to anywhere. On the other hand, the hotel is centrally located among the sites 2. The hotel does not publicize its attractions well to its...

El Tucano Hotel’s main guest is Mother Nature. The hotel has 87 rooms, including two luxury suites, though the real luxury is the chance to take a bath in its thermal waters. Featuring a 500 people capacity restaurant and conference halls for 200 people, both areas are surrounded by the primary forest housing a countless variety of flora and fauna. El Tucano Hotel has one of the most complete spas in Latin America where all the visitors renew their body and soul thanks to the communion received by the gifts of nature. In its extension of almost 7 acres of land and 9000 m2 of construction are produced 80 liters of water per second flowing from the 7 springs of thermal waters. The hotel has three hot springs pools recently remodeled and a hot water river with wonderful waterfalls and natural pools (surrounded the whole property), guests can swim in and let the river take all its problems while they get renew with its powerful energy.
