We booked online for 3 nights and the choice was spot on. The apartments are spacious with separate bedroom. We were given room 15 on the second floor - there is no lift but the view was worth the short climb!! From our balcony the ocean was a matter of 250 metres away. The area is quiet - apart from the waves!! The first afternoon a Kookaburra landed on our balcony and permitted us to take photographs - a good omen for our stay. Linda, the owner and manageress, was very helpful and arranged our trips to the Great Barrier Reef and to Kuranda. Clifton Sands is fairly small but there are a few places to eat out if you did not want to use the kitchen in the apartment. We stayed for 4 nights in this apartment. The location near the beach is great and the staff lovely. Apartment is clean and all you need for cooking is available. Location is ideal if you want to discover North Queensland by yourself.

This was the second time staying here and it was just as comfortable and relaxing as the first. Everything is in walking distance (beach & shops) and you can rent a bike and have a fun ride to Palm cove which was about 15-ish minutes. Would come back here for a third time as it just feels like home!

we were very pleased to have found this great place to stay.clean and tidy with every thing at your finger tips.the beach about 80 metres away. peaceful and quiet with a bus at the door going to and from the northern beaches into Cairns. Linda and her team were warm and friendly which made our stay that much more enjoyable. trev & rose. we will be back

'Clifton Sands' is the address for having the most beautiful and memorable holidays in Cairns. The units are very clean and inviting. Equipped with everything - from kitchen to bathroom to bedroom, all inclusive. Simply heaven! Just get your own food at the supermarket a few minutes walking distance. Every morning, the sunrise over the ocean gently woke us up. Most evenings we sat on the balcony and watched the ocean going to sleep. Linda, the manager, provided us with such a homely feeling, you only can get at your own parents home. Being nearly 24/7 on site, Linda helped with every hurdle we came across - be it booking a trip, ordering a taxi or just information about the area. The apartment we had was clean, the only one with a coffee machine .. We'll worth it!! Linda the owner was fantastic from the time I made the booking -> too saying good bye!! My partner made a booking for a snorkelling cruise, and we wanted to do a whale watching cruise, Linda took care of the whale cruise and did a swap on the days we went on the scuba cruise even know we didn't book through her!! DONT BELEVE some REVIEWS, never judge a book by its cover... But if u want a great apartment go apartment (17) it's the only one with a coffee machine. Cheers

Everything was excellent about the hotel, but service was horrible. The owner of the hotel is never around. We arrived to the hotel. Our room door was supposed to be unlocked. Key was left inside the room, but our room door was locked. We had to wait almost an hour to get into our room because she couldn't be contacted. Attitude towards answering questions or helping to call a taxi were not very pleasant either. I would rate hospitality very low. If you stay here, make sure you know the area and you know what to do because they won't help you here. Also don't forget anything, as you might not get your lost items back. It's taken me months to get my misplaced item back. Again contact is very poor! This place is not very professional.

I'm sorry that you feel that our service - one of our great strengths according to reviewers - was less than you expected. I should point out however, that we are not a full service 'hotel' - we are self-catering holiday apartments. I spend seven days a week on premises, Clifton Sands is also my home, and I do my utmost for all of our Guests - I want their stay to be enjoyable and memorable, and I want them to return and to recommend us to their friends & family. Your late arrival on a Saturday evening, after Office hours, had been organised as per our normal standard procedure when you did not check-in during the day - Guests have never had difficulties either before or since. Again, my apologies that you had to wait almost an hour until 8.00pm. We specifically ask our Guests from booking sites to please advise us of arrival times. As to the return posting to Japan of the item that you you forgot in your apartment - again, standard procedure has been applied. When payment is received from the Guest to cover packaging and postage costs - the item is shipped back to them. It's unfortunate that you feel so disappointed in the level of service you received from Clifton Sands, we do try our very best to make our Guests stay a happy one.

We have just spent 6 nights staying at Clifton Sands and thoroughly enjoyed every second ..it is a small resort which makes it more homely and personal. The apartment is well appointed and spotlessly clean with a lovely roomy balcony. It was very close to the beautiful beach ideal for a daily walk. Also shopping centre near by with supermarket and a choice of eating places. Linda is a wonderful host and goes out of her way to make your stay memorable. We have lasting happy memories of Clifton Sands and will return one day.

Absolutely loved my stay at Clifton Sands! The units are very light and bright, facing east to receive the early morning sun with beautiful views of the ocean, palm trees and natural surrounds. Everything was exceptionally clean with a well equipped kitchen. Truly appreciated the relaxed, friendly ambience of Clifton Sands and Linda is a wonderful host and certainly made me feel very welcome. As a single, female traveller, I can highly recommend it as a safe and peaceful place to stay. Look forward to returning again! Thanks Linda!
