Spent a week here, great accommodations- comfortable with everything we needed, even washing machine and tumble drier in largish bathroom. Lots to see and do from this location, not too far to most attractions. Great helpful and informative receptionist-Linda.

Spent a week at Clifton Sands and thoroughly enjoyed it - would return anytime! Loved the grounds with all the plants & flowers that Linda so carefully tends. Our apartment was clean and comfortable, and the beach is visible & audible at all times - just a short walk away. Linda was extremely welcoming and friendly at all times, and recommended and helped us book a number of tours in the area and made suggestions - all good - regarding different places to visit. We were glad to have her as a local expert! We enjoyed playing with her dogs and comparing world travel notes. Supermarkets and restaurants are all within easy reach. Even enjoyed the eerie screeching bush curlews!

We stayed here for 3 weeks in May 2014 while looking for long term accommodation and Linda made every effort to make us feel welcome and comfortable. She has such a great set up and everything is very clean. So when we needed another 10 day stay we went straight to Clifton Sands and had a second wonderful experience. In addition to her accommodation being clean inside and out and her kind hospitality, she books outings for travellers, supports locally owned businesses and has a great knowledge of the local flora and fauna. Ask her about the Sun Bird nests she is working to protect across the street. Oh and there is beautiful Clifton Beach a few steps away, tennis next door and a restaurant across the road.

Everything was excellent about the hotel, but service was horrible. The owner of the hotel is never around. We arrived to the hotel. Our room door was supposed to be unlocked. Key was left inside the room, but our room door was locked. We had to wait almost an hour to get into our room because she couldn't be contacted. Attitude towards answering questions or helping to call a taxi were not very pleasant either. I would rate hospitality very low. If you stay here, make sure you know the area and you know what to do because they won't help you here. Also don't forget anything, as you might not get your lost items back. It's taken me months to get my misplaced item back. Again contact is very poor! This place is not very professional.

I'm sorry that you feel that our service - one of our great strengths according to reviewers - was less than you expected. I should point out however, that we are not a full service 'hotel' - we are self-catering holiday apartments. I spend seven days a week on premises, Clifton Sands is also my home, and I do my utmost for all of our Guests - I want their stay to be enjoyable and memorable, and I want them to return and to recommend us to their friends & family. Your late arrival on a Saturday evening, after Office hours, had been organised as per our normal standard procedure when you did not check-in during the day - Guests have never had difficulties either before or since. Again, my apologies that you had to wait almost an hour until 8.00pm. We specifically ask our Guests from booking sites to please advise us of arrival times. As to the return posting to Japan of the item that you you forgot in your apartment - again, standard procedure has been applied. When payment is received from the Guest to cover packaging and postage costs - the item is shipped back to them. It's unfortunate that you feel so disappointed in the level of service you received from Clifton Sands, we do try our very best to make our Guests stay a happy one.

We stayed for two nights but it wasn't enough to enjoy the apartment in every way we could try.
We just had simple stay for two nights but we really enjoyed the tropical winds and the natural sounds made us so calm such as ocean waves, tree leaves, tropical birds, bugs...and also the reflection of moon light on the ocean...
it could be great if we cooked
local fresh seafood and veggies. There are local markets on the cook hwy about 10 mins drive and they are so reasonable!
Also wanted to enjoy drinking on our own patio. I also liked helpful laundry environment. We will definitely come back. Thank you!

Our family stayed at Clifton over New Year. We ended up in Cairns, as we would have spent the same amount (airfares and accommodation) on accommodation only in Southern NSW. So there you go: a point extra for Clifton Sands, quite affordable. Being a bit old fashioned, I’ve decided to book over the phone. Great experiences, from get go. I’ve left a message and 30 minutes later, I’ve received a call back and booked the accommodation (pretty rare these days).
Anyway, the room: really clean. I am not fussy, but I have a tendency to spot all the cleaning mistakes can’t say anything bad about the cleaning.
The rooms are standard one bedroom units; however, the choice is between upper floors, I would suspect most of them with ocean views, or the ground level with extra access to the lawn. Can’t go wrong either way I think. The outdoor (shared) area, says a lot about the current owner: loved the lazy afternoons on the sofas, between swims in the pool, or the breakfasts and dinners cooked, just like home, on the BBQ. The whole place has a real charm about it, and whilst Cairns is only a short bus ride or drive away, one feels like miles away from civilisation but with all the perks. There is a restaurant just opposite Clifton Sands, shopping centre, about 10 minutes walk, so you are all sorted. The beach, the kids’ playground and the park are only 5 minutes slow walk, and the bus station is really close.
Linda is a real pleasure to be around, and my daughter calls her “Nona Linda”.
When we’ll be in Cairns next time, at least I know where we’ll stay.

We stayed at this little gem for a long weekend and to put it simply, it was fantastic. Linda the manager was a perfect host and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. The apartment was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. There was a great BBQ area with 2 BBQs and a fantastic pool. The location was superb, within easy reach of everything and yet nice and quiet. No drunken backpackers around here! What surprised us most about this place was the price. The value for money we got here is almost unbeatable when you consider that for a run down seedy motel room in Cairns itself you are going to pay around the same price. All in all this place is a sure fire winner and we will be back!

The accommodation is clean and the bedlinen beautiful. The type you would get in a top class hotel.
. Bathroom is rather dated, but to have a washing machine and fully equipped kitchen was a real bonus. It is also walking distance from a lovely beach.
Linda could not have been more helpful when had an urgent medical problem. I would recommended the apartments not only because they are good the value, but because Linda was amazing.

We stayed for 9nts in July 2013, we originally came across these apartments on Wimdu but decided to book direct in a 'value plus' apt at a very good rate of $79pnt.
The apartment was very spacious, clean and well equipped, the kitchen had everything you needed for a self catering stay.
The Manager Linda was very friendly and always around in the day if you needed anything.
There is a bus stop right outside either taking you to Palm Cove in one direction or Cairns in the other (going via Smithfield shopping centre).
Lovely quiet beach at the end of the road.

This establishment is an absolute diamond for value, views and convenience plus it's only a few steps from one of Cairns best northern beaches. We were hoping for unit 14 as had been mentioned in other reviews and by good luck or good timing we were allocated number 14 by Grant. He is a great host and a fountain of information. We were originally from Clifton Beach and on a first return to Queensland since a move to Victoria we were glad to see little had changed and our choice of accommodation was well and truly validated by the reviews on Tripadvisor. A very highly recommended choice.

Hi Ronald, Clifton Sands is about 20 klms from Cairns CBD, and walking distance from Palm Cove.Cairns CBD doesn't have a swimming beach and you need to travel North for nice beaches. There is a bus stop outside Clifton Sands, the bus takes you into Cairns. Enjoy your stay.
