Stayed at the Casa Rural for two weeks in October 2014 and would recommend the same for anyone needing a relaxing, regenerating break on the beautiful island of La Gomera and people who like an authentic experience. Verena and Denis are very attentive hosts, speak good English and couldn't have been more helpful during our stay, organising a hire car...

Last month we stayed for 2 nights in casa rural 'los helechos'. This is a very cute house with a few rooms. It's very quiet and the perfect place if you want to relax. Unfortunately we only were 3 days on the island so all the days we were visiting all the towns so we could not enjoy the casa...

This was a return visit to a perfect holiday retreat. Casa Rural Los Helechos is a lovingly restored nineteenth-century Canarian house in an idyllic village which has everything that the discerning traveller could wish for. As ever, Verena and Denis were the perfect hosts: nothing is too much trouble for them.

We have just returned from the beautiful village of Agulo and stayed in Apartment No 2. which has a sea view. Our hosts Denis and Verena spoke excellent English . The house which is 150 years old has been beautifully restored . This week is an excellent time to visit as there is a village festival, not a loud speaker...

Casa Rural Los Helechos is a lovingly restored mid nineteenth-century Canarian courtyard house which is now divided into five well equipped studios. Breakfast of local produce is available on request, but cooking facilities are also provided in each room for self-catering. There is a sun terrace on the roof, although it is difficult to tear oneself away from the cool...

We agree that the hôtel has a very nice patio decorated with a lot of flowers and ferns (helechos). Some rooms are nice but we stayed during a week in STUDIO N° 1. This studio is on the basement and the 2 tiny Windows ( so tiny that you need light during day time) are in front of the street...

If you are going to La Gomera you shall stay here! It's an old Spanish house which has been renovated and is rented now. There are five cutest apartments in it, and all needed stuff in each one. Also there are: - laundry, - dryer, - sunny terrace in the roof with nice view, - strong wi-fi in the beatiful...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome in the "House of ferns"The traditional family house, “House of Ferns“ lies in Agulo, in the north of the Canary Island of Gomera. The name takes its origin from the patio which is traditional in the old cultural houses and is, as a matter of fact surrounded by ferns.A wonderful oasis of tranquility and relaxationIn the various individual appartments (incl. kitchen and shower room) which have been renovated in the traditional style, you can enjoy a little escapism from the touristic hussle bussle. The tranqiulity, the ambiente and the excellent service, guarantee a perfect base for your holiday activities. From the roof terrace (with sun-loungers) and some appartments there are overwhelming views of the sea and the neighbouring island of Tenerife with the highest mountain in Spain, “Teide”.The village of Agulo with its unusual location on the cliffs of the sea is known as ´The Pearl of Gomera`.It provides a perfect basecamp for hiking and excursions. Many of the most beautiful hiking routes begin either from Agulo or the neighbouring village of Hermigua. The national Park Garajonay is a 30-minute drive away. We look forward to spoiling you!!The house is under German managment with fluent English speakers. ... more   less
