#2 of 4 B&Bs in KnightstownLocation

Value
This is a spacious historic residence built in 1873 overlooking the sea on Ireland's most westerly inhabited island. It is secluded within its own private organic gardens yet within walking distance of Knightstown village and all the amenities it has to offer. We support our local farmhouse and use ingredients from our own garden, and our honeybees and hens all contribute to the breakfasts.

Detailed Reviews
A friend and I were touring around southern Ireland and came across this gem by accident and were we glad we did. Jackie is the penultimate host and helped us with good local tips. She even rang the seafood restaurant /pub across on the mainland to see if they still had lobster for us for dinner. She then proceeded to book us in, all part of the service.
The breakfast the next morning was close to, if not the best breakfast I ate in my month of travelling around ireland. The plate was perfectly presented with wonderful little touches such as edible flowers from her garden and her explanation was appreciated and I was very impressed with her "food miles".
Only one small criticism, we had the upstairs loft room with 2 single beds and the wall next to my bed had a couple of loose boards through which a breeze found its way in and caused a slightly annoying noise in the night with the loose boards bumping against the wall.
If you are near catch the ferry across to Valentia and try this gem.

We came here from Australia, and the B&B was recommended by Irish friends. If you are looking for a comfy bed in a period home full of great books and atmosphere then this is the place. Jackie and Brian are wonderful hosts and showed us around their vegetable garden, shared recipes and suggested sites to visit, Breakfast was an absolute revelation. Very highly recommended. Book several days in advance if possible.

Brian and Jackie, very special people who made us feel right at home and part of the wonderful community in Knightstown. Home grown and local produce provided nourishment for body and soul and if you happen to enjoy yourself too much in the local hostelries the option of a seaweed bath or sauna will have you jumping around their beautiful gardens in no time!! Their period house has been lovingly restored with exquisite decor. You will definitely want to stay longer here.
Brian and Jackie willingly shared all their local knowledge and booked us a trip to the majestic Skellig Islands (with packed lunch!) We will definitely be back!!!

Spent one night here in Valencia over the weekend. Really lovely place, super comfortable beds! Jackie was a great host and the breakfast went totally beyond the standard B&B offering, really good choice of lovely homemade breakfast options. Great location in knightstown within walking distance of the ferry and great pubs/restaurants.Will definitely be back!!!

A real gem of a B&B or is it more like boutique hotel which offers a period home experience with all mod cons?? Whatever it is, it’s just wonderful.
We were loving our stay and all the attention to detail in the room, welcome by Jackie etc and then there was the breakfast...holey moley, the breakfast!! Homemade soda bread with seaweed, edible flowers from purple broccoli from their garden (which I saw later), goats cheese with nori seaweed on the side, smoked mackerel, eggs from their own hens, wild boar sausage and the creme de la creme which was honey from their own hives.
This is the kind of place where you should come for two or three days to escape from it all and almost hope for a wild storm that you can watch from your cosy bedroom.

This b&b is a historic cablemasterhouse. From the garden a view over the Atlantic Ocean. The room was nice, clean and spacious. Jackie welcomed us with extensive information and a map of Valentia Island. We got a breakfast as we have never had.
With so much care, made with edible flowers, etc.
The garden was lovely and there were chairs where we could enjoy the sun.
Downstairs there was a beautiful room where you could sit and also there was a tv-room.
We enjoyed our stay here and we certainly come back.

My wife and I stayed here 2 nights in Room 4. Such a peaceful spot. And Jackie will be the best hostess you have ever met. Brilliant breakfast and great location. We couldn’t fault the place. Just lovely.

This is a vintage B&B since it has a story to tell. We had a great and spacious room in this house which is run by the lovely couple Jackie and Brian. The breakfast was great, most of the food is home grown and prepared with love. In general Valentia Island is very nice and worth a visit. For Dinner we followed Jackies recommendation and took the ferry and went to the restaurant at the other side. A real GEM as well, specially when you like seafood.

Jackie and Brian were wonderful hosts! Very helpful and knowledgeable about activities and restaurants. The breakfasts were delicious, substantial, made to order, and really beautiful. Their food is organic and they grow edible flowers which make the plate even prettier, and they are beekeepers so there is fresh honey to drizzle on your porridge, and spoon into your tea. Our bed was comfortable, the view was beautiful, and the area was very quiet. We would stay here again! Thank you, Jackie and Brian.
