Lions lions and more lions. Watched and listened to 11 lions eating a freshly killed wart hog. Saw 2 leopards up a tree with their kill. Walked in the bush with our guide Godfrey who was armed so we felt safe. Enjoyed an amazing boat ride while having lunch and watching the elephants and hippos in the water. Johann is...

This was the first camp of out three Wilderness safari camps. It set our expectations high and they were met each time! Duma Tau means lion roar and that is a perfect name! We saw more lions here than in our other camps - a pride of 14 on the prowl! I love how our guides, Ona and Go were...

The location of this lodge, the second on our trip run by Wilderness Safaris, but the first we visited in Botswana, could hardly be bettered. It is set right upon the river and every room enjoys an unobstructed view: hippos and elephants can be seen throughout the day and often enter the camp itself. This calls for some caution in...

Lovely camp, expertly run (the managers had just arrived, Johan and Analie and were great!) in a wonderful area. People are great, location is great and the individual ‘tents’ are more than great. I 100% agree with PoppetBelle's review below, no idea how they could make them better. They’re wonderfully located all with equal views that we loved being right...

Duma Tau was the first stop on our Botswana safari. We stayed May 10 - 13 this year. I had read so many of the reviews on here before I went, and I can honestly say this place is paradise on earth! The Camp: whilst not one of the 'luxury' camps, I'm not sure what else they can do to...

Our standard choice in the area would be Wilderness Safari's Savuti Camp, but they couldn't accommodate us on the dates we needed and hence chose Duma Tau. Generally we would avoid the larger camps, but Duma Tau was spectacular. The food, staff, guides were excellent, the GM's presence and influence very visible and active. The game and positioning of the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perhaps the best game viewing in far northern Botswana - from its newest and most stylish camp. DumaTau means "roar of the lion," but the elephant reigns here. The camp is set on a lagoon on the Linyanti River between two "elephant highways," affording unparalleled viewing of these iconic mammals, along with other wildlife. Together with sweeping, dramatic views of the river, the architecture of the camp expresses the explorer aesthetic, as well as the idea of space. There is an airy dining and lounge area, and a pool, all taking advantage of the superb view of the lagoon. Highlights DumaTau is located close to the source of the Savute Channel, with access to the Linyanti Swamps, floodplains and extensive mopane woodlands, thus offering an excellent combination of land and river. During winter, large elephant herds traverse the area. Chances of viewing leopard, lion and wild dog are excellent, along with other large mammals like hippo, red lechwe, giraffe, waterbuck, kudu, impala and occasional buffalo. 10 Tents (including 2 Family Tents): Rebuilt 2012; en-suite; spacious; raised off the ground; clear-storey window; 100% solar powered Experiences: Day and night game drives • Nature walks (on request) • Boating and barge (seasonal) • Game viewing hides • Catch-and-release fishing (seasonal) ... more   less
