Mbuyu Bungalows was a wonderful place to recuperate after a busy time on safari and general travelling in Kenya. Consisting of five rustic bungalows set in very colourful, well maintained, expansive grounds on a picture perfect beach they offer peace and solitude. The only sounds that you hear are the waves and the birds. You can walk along the pretty...

Mbuyu Beach Bungalows was the perfect Easter retreat for our family of four. A treasure chest of charm and botanical beauty. A sensational setting, fresh fish and all the good things of summer, salt and sea. The bungalows are enchanting and nestled amongst a tropical treed sanctuary, if you are lucky you will get to see two exquisite resident eagle...

Hello to Nairobi, and thanks for your overwhelming review. We, too, enjoyed your company a lot! And as I am writing, the giant eagle owls high up in their indian almond tree are joining in: huh-huuuuh... Take care, Werner (and Isabelle)

It was a nice, quite and relaxing atmosphere. The team welcomed us warmly and were pretty supportive all the time. It's certainly a place you can go regardless you travel alone, as couple or as family - as long as you don't expect "nightly special services". Indeed, one of the other guests tried to ask my sister-in-law for such services,...

Thanks a lot for the positive review! We never ever before had a guest who (let us put it that way) tried to confuse the bungalow doors... Well - all the best for your African projects, in business and in private life - it was interesting to spend quite some hours with you chatting about that. And welcome back any...

If you're looking for a quiet relaxing spot at the south coast of Kenya - this is for you. A very small and intimate hotel (only five bungalows) directly at the beach front and with a beautiful green garden. The bungalows are not luxury, but simple and rustic - this is not a criticism, as everything is well maintained and...

If like us you don't like mass tourist destinations then this is perfect, there are no big hotels nearby and very few souvenir sellers on the beach leaving you free to relax in the sea with the local children and fishermen, around the pool with an occasional monkey or in a hammock in the beautiful tended gardens. This was absolutely...

This place was everything that we wanted, and more so!! We felt extremely welcome, enjoyed fabulous food, and l stayed in a lovely bungalow right by the beach. No loud discos, no souvenir sellers, just peace and quiet. The only thing that we did not like was the weather, it rained a lot. But our hosts, Werner and Isabel, took...

This is such a peaceful place on the beach, with only 5 Beach Bungalows, a Pool and a beautiful Garden. We are always coming back here to relax, watching the Ocean and the Fisher Man with their catch of the day and the Cows passing by the Beach...it is quiet. Only the wind, palm leaves, or birds you are listening...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"Mbuyu Beach Bungalows“ is a quiet seaside hideaway in the friendly fishing village Msambweni, about 50 km south of Mombasa. Its sandy beaches are still off the beaten track, its tropical garden is abundant with trees and flowers. The bungalows are serviced daily; they all have ceiling fans and safes, fridges and water cookers, private bathrooms and verandahs overlooking the sea. There is a swimming pool and a much praised little restaurant right on the beach. A Swiss/German couple is running the place since 2012 – Isabelle's background is that of a humanitarian aid worker, Werner has been Africa correspondent of German Television for many years. In 2015, they won the Certificate of Excellence and a Travellers' Choice award by tripadvisor. ... more   less
