If you go here during the rainy season, make sure you have all-wheel drive. Our group's van did not and we were stuck in the mud. The ranch is between two river beds. It is very rustic, the room was clean but very basic though hot water didn't appear. The food was basic but good and the owners were friendly.

Amazing rock formations. Beautiful landscape. A must! Must see Bulls Party and Phillips Cave is amazing The lodge is very clean and owners very friendly. We took a long walk with the kids and they enjoyed it a lot. Read about the history of the rock formations prior to visiting. It is extremely interesting to have the background when you...

We can't say anything about the rooms or the campsite as we only came as day visitors to walk up to the Phillips Cave and to see the rocks at Bulls Party. We were greated friendly and the owner explained the map and advised what we could do in the available time. We hiked up to Phillips Cave. Yes, the...

A bit hesitant after reading some reviews, however on arrival we were pleasantly surprised. New owners had obviously made some changes as we didn't see (or smell) 1 cat and we found the amenities tidy and clean. A lovely cool pool for a dip was a added bonus, and we found the food served under the huge thatched roof outdoor...

We recently spent 2 nights in the campsite and were somewhat wary on arrival as our host at Omaruru had warned us that other campers who had stayed there said it was terrible and smelt of cat pee and that the pool was green and slimy. We almost looked for other accommodation but decided to try it out first. What...

Rating 7/10. This is where we upgraded from camping to a chalet on the spur of the moment. Ameib has been recently taken over by Sigrid and she seems to be trying hard to get everything in great shape again.. Nice clean accommodation with showers and shared dishwashing facilities and great breakfast the next morning. All the buildings are solid...

We had Room #1, clean and big, good hot shower, nice porch in front to sit out and relax, lots of closet space and hooks for hanging day packs. Food was good and plentiful, countryside is quite spectacular and the hiking was excellent. We had a open-car drive to several rock art sites and if you like San painted sites,...

This was quite simply one of the most incredible places that i went to in Namibia. think Matopo NP in Zim and then multiply it by 10, its astounding. a real jewel and one that is underrated and consequently a great pleasure to visit. Forget Cape Cross or the seal colony come straight here and spend the evening. You will...

Had an awesome stay here in October. The owners are very pleasant, speaking several languages. The rooms are really nice and the pool was great on the hot day we were there. The area is great for hiking and rock climbing and it has a lot of wildlife to be viewed. Great home cooked, family style meals are served in...

The only reason to go to Ameib is the indeed stunning scenery with a lot of hiking opportunities. Everything else made us want to run for it: the outdated ranch and rooms, the suppressed and depressed employees, the reception area that smelled horribly from the 50+ cats straying around and the food which was a deadly combination of German cuisine...
