The Cape Panwa Hotel is a blend of elegance and modern touches, set in a secluded and picturesque location, as noted by guests. While the hotel's atmosphere and amenities like a private beach and live music receive accolades, some travelers consider it overpriced and critique the value, especially regarding food, drinks, and hidden charges. The rooms' cleanliness is generally praised, but opinions are divided on their upkeep and style. This was our 4th visit to Cape Panwa and its our home from home. we were welcomed early morning with a very well recieved cold drink and towel and the reception staff were curtious and very happy to see us. We were located in T-Block on the 3rd floor and had the most amazing view over looking the bay, the room was clean, extreamly large and all facilities you would require and house keeping were 100% every day. We were with TUI on a full board bases which is the first time we had done this and were not disoppointed.

Pools, we used the pool on the beach which has a lovely view over the water but you can't go without dipping in the top pool and seeing the lovely smile of Varoon each day, a credit to this hotel.

We spent most of our time on the beach where you can get the tram down to save your legs and enjoy the lovely breeze, sun loungers were not an issue and you could choose the location you wanted, we sat back towards the beautiful gardens and enjoyed the wildlife all around us. The grounds people don't get enough praise on the great work they do in the heat, so thank you to the grounds team. We also had lunch in the Bamboo Bar and all meals were hot and full of flavour, thanks to Sandy and the team for the great service and smiles, also Cafe Andaman do a fantastic menu for all but you have the added bonus of Jennifier and Natacha serving you and making your day feel special.

Evenings we mostly had dinner at Top of the Reef where the food and service is sublime, and you get to hear the beautiful voice of Ice and her piano skills from the Otter's Bar. Don't get us wrong the Panwa House with it's stunning Thai food and view and Cafe Andaman with its Thai and Western menu are also wonderful places to eat.

after our dinner we would head on out to the light house bar where you can do happy hour between 9:30pm & 10:30pm and listen to the Panwa Trio which will play all your favourite tunes to sing along too, we love these guys, you also get Simon and Thidarat smiling, singing and making you feel happier than ever and never wanting to go home, miss you guys.

Even with Covid-19 going on the staff at the Cape Panwa were second to none with their approch, all the staff had a smile and stopped to chat and make you feel special, we know what hard times this will be for all and wanted to say Thank You for making our time with you amazing and this is why we would always choose your hotel to come back too.

See You All Soon

Dear PortsmouthUKMark, Thank you for taking the time to send us this very full and complimentary review of your latest visit to Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket. We particularly appreciate your mentioning all those staff whose contribution is frequently taken for granted, especially our hard-working grounds crew and Khun Ice in Otter’s Bar. We are delighted to have made your time with us special once more and we all look forward very much to your next visit. Cape and Kantary Hotels supports SOS Children’s Villages and the TSPCA. We do not serve foie gras, birds’ nest or shark’s fin and we stand firmly against the exploitation of Thai elephants for commerce or entertainment. We have just returned from a 6 night stay at Cape Panwa. This was our 2nd visit to this hotel.
We had a superior room, the room was great, extremely clean and had amazing views over the sea.
Breakfast is a superb buffet with a wide choice to suit all nationalities. The food was always fresh and piping hot, and the choice of dishes changed daily. The ladies on the egg station made the best omelettes and fried eggs. The cleanliness of the restaurant was 100%.
The hotel is situated on a hillside so there are quite a few steps but there is a vehicular tram that runs from the pool down to the private hotel beach. There is also a free shuttle bus down to the seafront where there is a nice selection of bars and restaurants.
The sand is generally white and soft but there are rocks out at sea which makes swimming very difficult at low tide. The bamboo bar on the hotels private beach is great. The staff were very attentive and the one meal we had there was lovely.
Within a few hundred yards of the hotel there is a laundrette where we got all our laundry done before returning home. Excellent service and cheap! Just allow 24 hours or so before your departure.
Next to the laundrette there is Divas where we had the most fabulous Thai, oil massages and foot scrubs over 2 days. An hours treatment which is of a really high standard cost just £7.50. The ladies were so friendly and kind. The treatments would cost at least £80 in the UK. Next to Divas there is a small bar called Uncle Jon,s. Jon is so friendly and we spent several hours chatting to other travellers and hearing Jon,s stories of life in Thailand. This is a really basic bar more like a garage but the atmosphere and supporting the locals was well worth it, and if you are a football fan there is a tv on mute in the background as Jon is a football fan.
We asked for a late check out room and were given this for 2 hours free of charge. However there are showers available if a late check out is not available.
I really don’t understand the negative reviews, this hotel was lovely and I would defiantly recommend it.

Cape Panwa hotel was the last leg of our Thailand trip. We arrived by taxi and was greeted by reception with a cold drink and a warm welcome. We were swiftly shown to our rooms and then went to lunch.
We booked through TUI on Full board basis, this was with a voucher system where you could go to any of the restaurants but if you went off the set menu you had to pay extra. We found the food fantastic, although were not keen of the Italian restaurant in the sister hotel. The top of the Reef was our favourite but eating in the Panwa house was a unique experience especially as we had a dining room to ourselves.
Our bedroom was spacious, very clean and had a sea view albeit through the trees.
Everywhere was spotless, the staff were very friendly and polite.
There were trips available from a desk by the side in reception but because of the Coronavirus we didn’t go on any of them.
We used the shuttle bus but there wasn’t much going on in the town. But there was a seven eleven.
There is a funicular railway that took you to the beach where there were plenty of sun beds and umbrellas, theres an infinity pool and the Bamboo beach bar which served good snacks and lunches and the staff were great. If you like swimming in the sea you can only swim in high tide so this might not be the beach for you, but that wouldn’t put me off returning to this wonderful hotel.
If you love great weather, lovely beaches, friendly people, great food, wonderful service with a smile go to Thailand and consider Cape Panwa hotel. We are hoping to go back.

I’m only giving 2 stars is for the reasons you will see further down in my review.

Cape Panwa is a nice rustic hotel. We found it to be very clean, lovely friendly staff, amazing breakfast. We booked a Cape Suite (C406) which was a really nice quiet room with a sea view. Our room was thoroughly cleaned every day with clean towels etc, nothing was to much trouble for our maid. I would say that it’s Not favourable for people with walking disabilities, far too many stairs.

Now my reasons for rating it 2* we’ve been to Thailand 5 times,3 times in Phuket, and were recommended to this hotel. We’re beach people, so that’s the holidays that we book, and expect to sit on the beach and get a bit of a suntan. The beach is horrendous!! Full of beds so close together, and mostly in the shade. If you wanted a prime spot along the front of the beach, then I suggest you get there at 6/6.30 to put your towel on the bed, because you won’t get one any later. My husband is an early riser and would go down at 7.30am and surprise surprise they’re all taken, so we ended up every day on the grass near the steps of the tram and mostly in the shade because of the trees.

We paid a lot of money to stay at this hotel, and the guests of the lower star Kantary Bay can use our beach. That’s why the guests of Cape Panwa can’t get a sun bed. We the guests, who’ve paid a high price to stay here are subsidising the guests of the Kantary!! I was in reception this morning at 9.45 and the shuttle bus came in full, they all got off, got on the tram down to the beach. The shuttle starts at 8 am, so how many bus loads before them arrived!

We still have 4 days left here and thank goodness my family surprised us and are staying in the My Beach Resort. We’ve been going to their beach for the last 3 days and will go for the next 3 too, when we’ll then go home. When we explained to the management at My Beach why we were using their beach, they offered us free use of their facilities and a free car to pick us up and drop us off, if there’s a car available, and it was tonight. So if I come again to Phuket, that’s we’re we will stay.

If you’re not beach people, then this could be the place for you.

Dear 44bas, Thank you for sharing your experience of you recent visit to Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket. We truly regret that you are not totally satisfied with your stay. We appreciate your positive feedback about the room, with a nice sea view, and the cleanliness. We will most certainly pass on the kind words to your room maid. Our lush large green garden and beach side does offer many shaded places, which is appreciated by many of our guests, and sets us apart from many of the other resorts in the area. However, the most southerly part of the beach near the Panwa House offers more unobstructed sunshine for those who can better handle the strong southern sun. As it is high season, and we are fortunate to have many return guests visiting so we did indeed supply more sun beds, and we apologize if you found the sun beds to be too close together. I wish you an enjoyable remainder of your stay, and I hope we will be able to regain your confidence in our resort during this stay. Cape and Kantary Hotels supports SOS Children’s Villages and the TSPCA. We do not serve foie gras, birds’ nest or shark’s fin and we stand firmly against the exploitation of Thai elephants for commerce or entertainment. If you are travelling with TUI you will be allocated a room that involves many stairs, it’s definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility problems or of advanced years. We upgraded at a cost to a Cape Suite in J block which had excellent access.

Drinks, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that spirits are often short measured. My wife’s double G&T certainly wasn’t a double on numerous occasions. I watched the bartender make me 2 Singapore slings in the Lighthouse during happy hour (2 for the price of 1). He poured the correct measures for one then split it between 2 glasses. No 2 drinks ever tasted the same, you have to ask yourself just why this is going on, the situation in Otters Bar was the same. Speaking to other guests they also believed they were not being given the correct spirit measure.

The beach, if you enjoy a good swim you’ll be out of luck. Just off shore there is a bed of rocks/dead coral making it impossible to strike out at low tide, at high tide you can just about clear it without banging your legs, it is not ideal. Guests staying at the cheaper sister hotel the Kantary Bay don’t have a beach so they are shuttle ‘bussed’ up to the Cape Panwa in fairly large numbers, taking up beach sun beds. I find this to be totally unfair that Cape Panwa guests subsidise this ingress.

Even though the hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean the whole infrastructure is tired. Some of the decking around the pool is rotten and needs replacing. The main pool filtration system did not appear to be working to capacity for the whole of our 3 week stay, many days the water was cloudy. Also the grout on the pool tiles also need a good scrub as there appeared to be black mould on it.

Final bill, when I went to pay our final bill the night before our check out upon scrutiny I found that we had been charged for lunches even though we were on a FB deal. This practically doubled the amount due. The young lady on the reception desk rectified this in a highly professional manner but it should not have happened. Make sure that you check your final bill very carefully.

Having said all that the food is of good quality in all the restaurants, the staff are all charming, friendly and helpful but it is with a degree of sadness I say that we will not be returning. Even with all the aforementioned problems we overall enjoyed our stay but things need sharpening up.

We have just returned from Cape Panwa after a fabulous stay. This was our second visit in 4 years and I had a few reservations after reading some reviews, but I wasn't disappointed it is still beautiful.

We had a superior room, lovely sea views and the room was spacious, spotlessly clean and beds very comfy, with fresh linen nearly everyday.

The breakfast is 5 star, the egg station make the best fried eggs ever, crispy bacon plus a wide range of both western and Asian food. All the food is lovely and hot and waiters are constantly topping up your cup of tea/coffee.

The private beach looks lovely and we did swim everyday, but due to the tide and coral it's not the best beach to swim, the beach it'self has super soft sand. The Bamboo bar on the beach is great, 1st class service especially by Sandy she remembers everyone and their chosen drink, the food is good too.

If you do have limited mobility, the hotel does have quite a lot of steps so that is worth noting when booking.

There is a free shuttle bus to the local restaurants which runs about every 10 minutes, its a short distance but very hilly so not ideal to walk.

Just outside the hotel you will find "Uncle Jon's" a very small bar, ran by uncle Jon who takes great care of you and provides super sweet chopped mango on the house, cheap prices too. Just before you reach Uncle Jon's you will find "Diva" a fabulous massage parlour, amazing prices, lovely staff you wont be disappointed. They also provide a laundry service, again 1st class we didn't bring much washing home! There is also a local taxi next door, again good rates and extremely reliable, we used them several times including Patong Beach so we weren't tied to excursion times.

In the local town you will find a reasonable selection of restaurants Sawasdee was our favourite, serving amazing food, but everywhere was good.

In a nutshell, this is a fabulous hotel, delicious food, super clean and comfortable and all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful ... what more could you ask for!

Me and my partner stayed here at the start of January 2020 for five days before travelling further around Thailand. On arrival we were blown away by the beauty of the open planned lay out of the hotel, it’s thai style and the surrounding grounds. As well as, the friendliness of the staff welcoming us - especially after 23 hours of travelling.

We stayed in the room Cape Suit, which was stunning, massive and very comfortable. Very clean and well looked after by the hotel house keepers/maids throughout our stay.

As mentioned before the hotel lay out is stunning and well planned, there is two pools and a private beach for guests to use, which are joined together by pathways and rainforest gardens. They’re spread out nicely which in turn never makes the hotel feel over crowded or busy, even though there is plenty guests staying. Both swimming pools and the beach are lovely, me and my partner were walking along the beach one day and a gigantic comodo dragon just wondered out of the rocks and trees, giving you the true feeling of staying in the Thai wildness.

The food at this hotel is delicious, never had a bad meal. As well as, there being plenty to choose from in the morning at breakfast. Anyone visiting, try each restaurant as they each offer something different and a unique experience.

The staff are so kind, welcoming, polite and helpful. They truly make the experience even greater.

Another experience I recommend is to have a Thai massage on the beach from the spa staff - very enjoyable. Also, the hotel offer a city tour which is 1500 Thai baht for three hours and they will take you anywhere around Phuket - suggest visiting the Big Buddha and Wat Chalong temple.

In all my years of travels, I have never felt sad to leave a hotel like I did here. Me and my partner both agree, that we will definitely be returning one day to this wonderful hotel.

Stayed here bed and breakfast for a week with friends,
We think we had the worst room in D block right by the restaurant so could here early morning all the plates and people while we were still in bed! Didn’t expect one of the suits or sea view rooms but on leaving were given a courtesy room a few room down from ours and it was fabulous really modern and very spacious while ours was dated decor and terrible bathroom with ants that came out at night in the sink though reception was informed. I wouldn’t say this was a 5 star which we thought it was when booking you can get nicer hotels for your money.

The mosquitoes eat you alive here never had a problem in Thailand before so take lots of spray with you, beach looks lovely on paper but you Carn’t swim as loads of rocks as you go in there are times and dates in you room when you can lots of jellyfish washed up on the beach so it put me off to be honest.

Restaurant staff in the morning very rude when you asked for a cappuccino or something different food ok at breakfast the fruit area was the best, mainly Europeans here who reserve sun beds at the crack of dawn not very authentic Thailand more like Spain!

Good fun catching the bus into town every night and it runs every 20 mins, if our friends hadn’t been there we would have been a bit bored.

Dear 832philb, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It is extremely sad to learn that we were not able to meet your expectations during your stay. The courtesy room that you were able to use on your departure was a Cape Suite, whilst the room you had booked was a Superior Room. As you did enjoy the space and design more of the courtesy room we would encourage you to book this room type for your next visit, they are indeed wonderfully spacious. Please accept our apologies if we failed to impress you with our service during breakfast, and your feedback has already been shared with our team as an urgent area of improvement. The complimentary shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes daily from 8 AM until midnight, and is indeed a great option to visit the small local market on the nearby boulevard, to visit some of the local restaurants, or just to explore the area. We would like to regain your trust and hope to serve you again in the future, and hope to welcome you here again the near future. We have just stayed for ten nights in a Cape Suite in the F block of rooms. The suite is large and bright with a view across the gardens and bay. Everything in the room worked well and was kept clean. The air conditioning is very efficient but does have a constant noise from the fan - bring ear plugs if any sort of background noise troubles your sleep.

The gardens are lovely for relaxing in, with good areas of shade provided by the trees if you're not a sun worshipper. The reserving of sunbeds early in the morning is something of an issue but not peculiar to this resort, and we believe the hotel management is reviewing the matter. The top pool is lovely for an early swim and the tram between the upper and lower levels of the resort is a life saver in the heat of the day, as is the shuttle bus to the village.

We found the breakfast dishes plentiful and varied, even for someone who can't eat gluten and doesn't eat meat. The staff quickly got to know that we need decaf coffee and like green tea, which was always brought promptly and with a smile - including refills.

We bought vouchers for the buffet evenings (pay for 5 get 6): the seafood evening is very good, the Thai buffet at Panwa house even better, with a lovely setting on the beach. We also ate twice at Top of the Reef, choosing from their set menu, which varies nightly. The setting is refined, the quality of the food good, the meal including including an amuse bouche, palate cleanser, and petit fours.

This is the sort of resort where you can carve out your own daily routine and just chill, which was what we were seeking from this trip. I am sure we will be back in the future.

Thank you to everyone who made this an enjoyable stay, from Kasim at the pool, all the way up to the GM, who is always walking around seeking feedback from the guests.

After some amazing holidays in Europe and America we wanted to try something different and extremely special for our honeymoon. We wanted 5star luxury as do all honeymooners and put full trust in this hotel based on the website and social media. It doesn’t state on the website that there is poor accessibility for those with walking difficulties and on arrival it was apparent my wife was going to encounter a lot of problems. The reception staff were unable to help us with this on checking in to our room which was accessed by quite a few steps. We got moved after two days due to noise and the second room was still difficult for her to get to and from. The rooms are clean and comfortable but a lot of infrastructure around the resort needs attention, especially the uneven paving which can be a hazard in flip flops. We booked a pool villa for our last two nights and the bathroom was full of creepy crawlers and tiles were coming off the pool floor. The beach is advertised as private but we didn’t feel secure as hoped as anyone can access it. It was on par with a 3 star resort in the Canaries but boasts of great luxury. We decided to manage our own expectations and enjoy the trip for what it was. The rooms, food and service were all about average. Most of the staff are ok but there can be a language barrier. A couple of staff did come across as rude on occasion. On a few occasions we witnessed the general manager and reception dealing with various complaints from other guests which set the tone. There was little sign of smiles or laughter in the resort with everyone seeming to just get on with it. This place is ok if you get a good package deal and want a week in the sun. For a honeymoon we feel we were mislead and had spent quite a hefty fee with our travel agent. We have definitely been to much nicer resorts elsewhere for a lot less money. Some could say we are spoilt with our own Irish hospitality but we are well travelled and don’t feel we got what we paid for.

Hi, I am just wondering if the full board includes any drinks whilst eating?

Hi Hayley. Whilst we stayed at the Cape Panwa Hotel, I took a walk along to the Pullman to see how it compared. A very nice guy on reception gave me a wristband that allowed me to have a look around. It is indeed modern, but I felt it made it a little unfriendly. I could only see the public areas, so I can't comment on the rooms. In regards to the beach, the Caper Panwa definitely scores over the Pullman, as you are directly on the beach. At both the Panwa and the Pullman, when the tide is out, it can be difficult to get into the sea due to undersea rocks. This appears to be worse at the Pullman as the sea goes so far out although I didn't notice too many rocks. The Panwa is definitely in the old style, but the rooms are not. We had a room with a balcony and it was very comfortable and clean (We upgraded on arrival for about £300 for 14 nights). Well worth it. If you are going half board, check out the eating arrangements right at the start, as it is easy to miss out when the hotel decides to accommodate a wedding or a conference, and they change the restaurants that you are allowed to eat in on your package. The beach bar is great for snack type meals. I hope this helps.

If you're a couple in their 60s, I recommend the cape panwa hotel. Breakfast at this hotel is excellent, and the staff are very friendly. It also has a dedicated beach, and you can walk to the beach, but it's convenient to travel on a small tram. Shuttle buses out of the hotel are also running for free. I recommend it here!
