Stayed here Monday 25th September in room 3. Had an evening meal that was good & service by Amy was great. However went downhill rapidly after this. DO NOT STAY HERE - BEDBUGS! Woke in the morning to find spots of blood on the sheets that weren't there night before. Friend's bed also had spots of blood on the sheets. Lifted the pillows & saw the bedbugs. Caught one full of blood that popped when I tried to pick it up - fresh blood on my fingers. Caught another one alive & put it in a mug to take down to reception. In a rush as needed to be out to play golf & breakfast had been severely delayed. (Had to wait around 40 minutes once ordered breakfast & then wrong order delivered. Waited another 10 minutes & food was lukewarm.) No manager was in the hotel when I asked. I said I was about to settle my bill but was unhappy paying after this experience but reception agreed that no payment was required. Presented them with the bedbug I'd caught. Left my contact details & asked for a manger to contact me. Told not back in till Thursday. No contact on Thursday so I phoned them. Receptionist told me that there would be a refund to my friend of £32.50 when the room had cost us £65 each ( he had checked out earlier before I found the bedbugs so had paid his bill). When asked why the manager had not phoned was told the receptionist was asked to call with this message. Asked to speak with him. Manager is Ken Robison. He answered the call with "Yes". Asked if he knew the problems with the bedbugs. Again "Yes". Asked if he was going to apologise. Just ignored me. He said that "the room was thoroughly cleaned & no bedbugs present & that it is the guests that bring them in". I assured him his implication was completely unfounded & that I did not bring them into the hotel. I couldn't believe he was so dismissive. Then he said "how do you know you were bitten?". Unbelievable! Told him the fresh blood on the pillows & sheets in the morning & the fresh red blood when the bedbug popped. I tried to explain the refund that the receptionists had said no charge - this had included an evening meal but when they didn't charge me I assumed this was compensation for the bedbugs. Manager told me that I need to pay the other £32.50 to to my friend. Told him unacceptable but he wouldn't let me speak, shouted over me every time I tried to say anything & then put the phone down on me. Completely unprofessional. Sent him an email the next day asking for this to be resolved by end of day. No reply. No refund has been made to my friend & no apology has been made. Disgraceful! If playing golf at the fabulous local course I wouldn't recommend here.…

We stayed here last night. The moment we entered the basic room, we heard the extractor fan outside! I queried immediately and was told it would be off by 9pm unfortunately it was back on before 7am! The shower head didn’t move which resulted in a rubbish shower. Clearly the extractor fans aren’t working well as the moment you left your room, you could smell food/oil and not in a good way. For £120 for a last minute booking, I would have expected more.

The Golf Hotel provided a welcoming stop during our journey. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making our brief stay pleasant. While the hotel may show signs of wear and tear, it managed to offer a comfortable environment. The breakfast, while not extravagant, was perfectly satisfactory, giving us a decent start to the day. A standout feature was their offer of safe overnight storage for our bikes, which added a layer of security and convenience to our visit. The central location of the hotel is undoubtedly a plus, making it convenient for travelers passing through the area. In summary, the Golf Hotel may have its imperfections, but it compensates with its friendly staff, comfort, and practicality for travelers, particularly those on two wheels.

Lovely staff as always. As we have stayed many times before we asked for a front view room as we were there for 4 nights. Got room no. 1. Nice room, front and side view but no wi fi. Spoke to the manager the next morning and he said he knew, the previous people had mentioned it! He said there was nothing he could do as there was nothing free until later in our stay. So we tried the TV - all we could get was radio 2, 4 and Cumbria- nothing else! I said to reception that they couldn't charge full price and not deliver a full service but she said there was nothing she could do and the manager had gone on leave. I know it's an old hotel but as the manager knew there was a problem he should have adjusted the price accordingly.

I haven't visited The Golf Hotel for many years and being a Monday and there not being a lot of choice in Silloth during the day, I decided to try The Golf Hotel. The bar/restaurant was immaculate, had a wide range of beers and the view across the Solway Firth was good. I found the young waitress friendly and I didn't have to wait long for my meal. I chose a beef lasagne with garlic bread and salad, and for £13.50, this was reasonable value considering this is a hotel as well as a restaurant. No complaints as the lasagne was filling and full of beef and the side salad and garlic bread OK. A group of older people from Carlisle said they regularly visited The Golf Hotel as the service and meals were good. Also the sound system plays sixties and seventies hits and there is Sky News on the television with subtitles.…

Mixed BUSINESS with FAMILY visit. The rooms are clean and nicely presented. However..... On arrival, my husband and I were allocated Room 11 but needed to be moved to Room 1 on the first morning as a result of issues existing in Room 11. These being: ..curtains not secured properly on the curtain track, resulting in sections falling away from the track ..the hot water available at the washbasin was not available for the shower over the bathwe were unable to have a shower as the mechanism to transfer water from the bath ..taps to the shower head did not work and came off in our hands ..the temperature of the water for the bath was TEPID - even though the temperature from the washbasin taps was very hot ..the television simply did not work ..the wi-fi signal worked but only intermittently At breakfast, we raised the issues with the Receptionist who, as well as serving breakfast, handled our complaint really well and offered us the opportunity to move into Room 1. No staff member was offered to help us with our relocation. Issues continued with Room 1. ..there was absolutely NO wi-fi ..the serious complete lack of wi-fi in the room impacted negatively on our ability to work. We even tried to access the wi-fi down in the "seating" area of the main dining room / bar to no avail ..the television simply did not work, not a big issue but the description of the rooms on the website, states that all rooms have "Digital televisions with freeview". They may have them in situ, but they do not work - certainly not in Rooms 1 and 11. We travel extensively for our work and rely on hotels having fully functioning wi-fi. Even Premier Inn's basic free wi-fi, functions in every one of their hotels. At no time during our 3 night stay, did we see or have the opportunity to discuss the issues with a Senior Manager. The Receptionist went out of her way to find us another room. It is certainly not her fault that the issues continued. Our experience does not fulfill our expectations or experiences of other 4* hotels. The breakfast served on the first morning was adequate but not the quality we would expect in a 4* rated hotel. We decided not to have breakfast at the hotel for the 2nd and 3rd mornings because of this. …

Just awful, from reception, to the bar and the breakfast staff, really poor experience, drinks over priced at £6.20 a pint and asking for tea and coffee for breakfast which never came along with the toast for the sausage and egg on toast as they do not know what a bark, bun, cob is

Stopped in here for some food and drink. Have to say it's amazing. The cod was out of this world and large enough for two people. The portions are huge. Christmas cocktails not to be missed. The staff were so pleasant and helpful.

We stayed at solway holiday village this weekend and stopped upon this little beauty before check in. We’d always planned to stop for dinner on arrival to Silloth, however upon checking the internet we thought we might have problems as most placed closed for food at 2:30 until 5:30. Any way we were lucky to stumble upon the golf hotel who serve food right through the day. Hubby had teriyaki beef, I had the steak and ale pie and kids shared a Mac n cheese and a pizza. Portions for everyone were very generous and the quality was brilliant. Beautiful home cooked chips and a truly amazing steak and ale pie not to mention the other food. It was so lovely we decided to stop back for Sunday lunch and wow that was just gorgeous too. It was Carvery so obviously you could help yourself depending on appetite but the meat was very generously carved and the plates were big. I honestly couldn’t fault the place or the food. And the staff were all very friendly especially Ken. Would highly recommend to anyone!…
