We loved this beautiful hotel, the quiet rooms, beach facilities, water park and elegant setting. Immaculately clean in all areas, friendly staff, it was a holiday to remember. What made the trip extra special was the animation team and their games for kids & adults.. including beach volleyball, soccer, and water polo. A big thanks to Jordan for making the yoga classes and all the activities fun and memorable! Also thanks to the beach and water slide lifeguards for keeping everyone safe. The food was excellent and cocktails in the open top rooftop bar super special Be sure to visit Rethymno town when staying at Anemos
We traveled Greece extensively over the last few years and stayed at Lindos Blu on Rhodes, the Marriott Blue Palace and the St. Nicolas Bay on Crete. This time we decided to go for the Anemos Luxury Resort. We booked for two weeks and were upgraded from a deluxe room with shared pool to a private pool which was fantastic. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to return but choose a date outside the holiday season as we had expected less families with children and a more relaxing experience. The hotel is located about 100 kms from Heraklion and 45 kms from Chania so fly into Chania if you can; the nearest village is Georgioupolis (about 25 mins along the beach). The location is rather remote, so you may wish to hire a car to get around. The hotel is built on a slightly sloping plot and consists of six lines of accommodation blocks, all with two floors. It is north facing so most patios and the majority of private pools are in the shade and tend to get cold. While we had lovely views, some of the rooms do not provide a clear view over the block in front. Also, the road at the front of the hotel is rather noisy so we recommend avoiding rooms in the first two rows. The beach is fantastic, with crystal clear waters, nice sunbeds and good service; it is located on the other side of the road which you cross via a tunnel. Pending on the location of your room it’s an easy 5-10 mins walk. The resort is architecturally very nice, the pool landscape is beautiful as well, but rather shallow (max 1,20 m). Unfortunately, the pools were occupied by kids most of the time, so we preferred the beach instead. Our room was lovely, very spacious and overall well-appointed with a really comfortable king size bed. We would have preferred a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub and were disappointed by the poor quality of the towels (worn out, paper thin and not what you would expect in a five-star resort). The room was kept immaculate at all times. Anemos offers very good buffets with a variety of local and international food as well as four specialty restaurants. We loved the fish restaurant at the beach, and also the Greek one (Levantes). Unfortunately, breakfasts were a bit hectic and rushed, as it is often the case in big family resorts. While rather pricey, the variety of wines on the menu was outstanding. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and helped us combining our wines with the food. Most of the staff in the restaurants were amazing, especially Katherina, Eleni, Kosta and Nikolaos. COVID regulations were adhered to all times. The shows in the evening were not to our taste, and due to the volume of the music there was no way to escape – so we missed the relaxing and quiet evenings on our terrace which was a bit sad. We had also expected less families with kids, and especially during our second week things became less relaxing as a result. Overall, and with some minor adjustments, we would be happy to give Anemos the full five stars; for now, we think it is a very good 4,5-star hotel. Recommended especially for families, and for a largely German clientele. Thank you for a great stay.…
Thank you Anemos for a wonderful relaxing holiday. The hotel is beautifully and tastefully decorated and designed throughout and the entire resort is spotlessly clean. Food is delicious, great variety and huge portions. Dietary needs supported with no issues. Many special staff made our stay even better - Giorgia and Katerina in the main restaurant along with all the staff in their team, Spiros, Constantinos (Stan), Ali and the team at the water park, the talented chefs and friendly staff at Kaze and Sirocco restaurants, the entire team at the fantastic spa, truly one of the best hotel spas visited - and Vasilis in the general management team for arranging a booking at a unique restaurant for us in Rethymno old town. Finally the cleaning, maintenance and gardening staff who work so tirelessly - your efforts do not go unnoticed! Minor points that could make for an even more fantastic holiday experience if addressed: The bar at the main pool always felt overly busy and staff were stressed, always trying to ensure a good service, but it was obviously very challenging for them. Majority of staff also seem very young and inexperienced. Booking restaurant reservations, excursions and seeking information requests would be helped with more than one member of staff being available at guest relations and some technology support. For such a large hotel this could ease time spent queuing and pressure on staff. Congratulations Anemos for providing a first class Cretan holiday.…
We had an amazing stay at Anemos. The property has its own private beach which is well maintained with sun beds, showers, changing rooms and toilets. Plus the beach bar can serve cocktails while you relax at the beach. The food was great, and buffet was suitable for all age groups. We travelled with kids and they loved the mini water park, available inside the resort premise. Staff was always available and service was quick. The property is well maintained, and we are enjoyed all the evening shows. Only thing we did not like was the dinner at the beach fish restaurant. And the buggy drivers were a bit annoyed with kids, as they take longer to board the buggy. They need to be a bit more patient especially with families with kids.
Stayed at Anemos for 10 nights, from arriving at the hotel to leaving in a taxi we had the most amazing time. From welcome drinks and porter services to the fantastic room with private pool we couldn't have wished for any better. The standard of food in all the restaurants is excellent and always something to suit all tastes. The all inclusive drinks available was second to none. A special mention to Georgios in Notos, he was fantastic as was all the hard working staff within the complex. I was celebrating my birthday whilst there and even got a birthday cake presented in our room. Beach and the beach bar/restaurant is great and always got sun loungers around at the beach or around the main pool. Travelled in a couple so can't comment on the children's activities. One of the best hotels I've stayed in, will definitely be back. Thanks Anemos!…
An excellent hotel in a beautiful location. The facilities are excellent, we had 2 garden facing rooms with en-suite bathrooms. There is a central pool area and a beach, in addition many rooms have private or shared pools, and there is a small water park with its own pool and slides for adults and a kiddie pool with smaller slides. The food was excellent with a broad choice of dishes in the main restaurant. We were there on a half board basis, as we planned to take day trips, if you’re planning to spend most of your time at the resort the all inclusive deal is worth it. There are a number of a la carte restaurants to choose from, but we didn’t try them as the choice in the main restaurant was fantastic, the menus at the restaurants looked very appealing and I’m sure they live up to the general high standard as the main restaurant. The hotel is ideally located for trips to nearby sights such as lake Kournas, Chania, Lappa Agioupolis etc. The staff are on hand to provide explanations about excursions and to make bookings, very helpful. The evening entertainment activities (animations) were a mixed bag, some were decent and some less, but it was nice sitting outside by the pool in the evening breeze with a cocktail. One negative, from a non smoker’s perspective; our room was supposed to be a non smoking room, but it was obvious from the ashtrays on the patio and strong smell of generations of smokers in the room that this was never enforced and was more of a recommendation. This was our first time in Crete and when booking we didn’t realise how large the island is, I’d highly recommend that you fly in to Chania airport rather than Heraklion as the airport at Heraklion is about 100 Kms from and transfer bus takes over two hours to reach the resort, not exactly the most relaxing start to a holiday, Chania airport is much closer to Anemos, only about 40 Kms away.…
I enjoyed my stay and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and there was nothing I would have changed. The beach facilities were excellent, with exception of the cabana drapes. These are meant to protect from the sun but they are badly designed and need reviewing and changing so that they are fit for purpose. The food was of a good standard and the restaurant staff were efficient and friendly. Where I felt let down was by your choice of channels provided for guests on screen. The large proportion of your guests my not be British or English language speakers but to provide not even one entertainment channel in English is very poor. Even Gold and Star which originates in English were delivered in German. Inclusion of Netflix would solve this issue and would have made my stay much happier. Overall a very good hotel, well run, in a very attractive setting.…
Hotel is great. We stayed in more expensive hotels, but this one has a really hight level. Food (we had HB) with lots of fresh local dishes, fruits. Service is amazing, Vitaliy on reception is professional in his field. The hotel’s beach, I believe, one of the best in island: clean, wide, well equipped. Hotel themselves is well equipped too- furniture is new, comfy beds , new beach towels
It was our second time at this Resort and it did not disappoint. Beautiful family room with lots of space for us and the kids, right next to the childrens pool and slides! Delicious food, very friendly staff, perfect location to explore crete (we had a rental car). With the guidance of the sommelier Dimitris we enjoyed the best Greek wines every night. Wish we could go back right away :-). Small point of improvement ... The animation programm 4 years ago was much better. that need's some work. Children's entertainment is great (kind regards to Sofia, my two boys had a crush on her!!). We will come back, hopefuly very soon! tips to visit: - Chania (boat trip with kids is great! ) - Rethymno (check out Bar Lux - great cocktails, pancakes, mexican food!!) - Lake Kournas (go early - rent a water bike with slide). this is so close to the resort - Balos Beach (2hrs drive - pared with a difficult hike, wear good shoes, not sandals) - Elafonissi (2 hrs drive - we loved it more than balos)…
This year it was the fifth time we returned to this wonderful hotel. I came only with the thought of relaxation and that's what I had. The hotel has inaugurated a wonderful play area for children (aqua park, outdoor fitness area, mini golf area, football field, tennis court, basketball court, a dining area for lunch). The staff is friendly, all services are offered to a high standard, the food for all tastes. The cleanliness of the rooms, around the hotel, the beach, the restaurants is impeccable. They pay attention to every detail. Congratulations, Anemos Luxury Grand Resort! See you soon.
