Wow! We can’t praise our stay here enough. We stayed for two nights and wish we had booked longer. The service and staff were faultless and made sure our stay was perfect! The room was just amazing and we honestly felt like we were the only people here, it was everything we hoped it would be and more! Can’t recommend enough!!! Thank you for an AMAZING stay!! 😊
We had a wonderful stay and wished we could stay longer. The nature, the lodge, the food, the people, everything was so special. Best relaxing place for a brake away from everyday life. Ecological place with a real feeling of being part of nature. The staff looks like a family and they are so welcoming and attentive. We left refreshed and will be there again as soon as we can.
If you need to escape the stresses and pressures of modern life and seek to immerse yourself amongst nature, Lakaz Chamarel is the place for you. My new wife and I stayed for 4 nights during the first leg of our honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We immediately felt the sense of calm and relaxation offered by both the location and impeccable hospitality. We stayed in Rempart; a large room with a private outdoor terrace, dining area, sun sunloungers, outdoor pool (front - unheated) and outdoor shower (rear) which offered the most incredible sea views (and subsequent sunsets!). Although it should be noted the weather wasn't great for a couple of days (late July) and it was particularly cold at night (i.e., in the exposed restaurants and unheated rooms), this was typical of Mauritian winter months (so pack a few jumpers for the evenings!). But, despite the incredible tranquil surroundings, Lakaz Chamarel would not be what is it without the impeccable service from the staff! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the service was second-to-none. Specifically, my wife and I experienced a level of service and a sense of genuine kindness unlike anywhere else we have stayed. It should also be noted that the quality of the food would rival any high-end 5-star hotel. The staff decorated our table with petals one evening and left a handwritten note (on a leaf!) on our pillow every evening. Pros - Staff (an owner and staff that clearly care about service and guest experience). - Setting - immersed within nature (the birds are incredible). - Food quality. - Room. - Environmentally friendly. - Eye for detail. - Reasonably priced massages/treatments. Cons - A bit cold at night in Mauritian winter months (i.e. July/August) - not really a con - just take a jumper). - Unheated pool. - No heat source in the rooms (for the winter months). I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We WILL return again.…
Myself and my husband came here for the first 3 nights of our honeymoon. It was the perfect place to unwind after the craziness of the wedding. It's truly an incredible place, with stunning grounds and scenery. Our accommodation was so private and had views over the grounds as well as a private pool and outside shower. We even had a visit from a few cheeky monkeys who popped down from the forest to check out their new neighbours. The food was delicious, with something new on the menu everyday and the restaurant always had a lovely atmosphere with a pianist on our last night. Most of all, I can't thank the hosts enough, they were all so friendly and attentive, they really made our experience so wonderful. One of our favourite ways to spend the evening was at the View Bar as it had incredible sea views where you can watch the sun set surrounded by nature.…
We discovered this place via our trailfinders rep and I’m so glad she persuaded us that it would be worth going to. From the moment we arrived at 7.30am (after a long and turbulent flight from UK) the staff were friendly and very welcoming and ensured you were well looked after. Our room was beautiful and was the perfect little hideaway for the start of our honeymoon. We did half board and we couldn’t fault any of the food- absolutely delicious and plenty of variety. At 5pm every day they open a little bar at the top of the resort which has beautiful views for sundowner drinks. They have a selection of bikes you can borrow for free to explore the neighbouring area - the Rum Distillery and Ebony forest are both very close by and easily accessed by bike (no need to book a day tour for those unless you really want to). On our wedding anniversary they very kindly helped my husband organise having bubbly and breakfast up at our lodge which was a lovely treat! We would highly recommend this place to others: fabulous experience!…
We had a beautiful relaxing stay at Lakaz surrounded by nature. The staff were amazing and made you feel right at home. The food was very good with excellent choices of dishes. I would recommend a jumper for the evening as it can get a little chilly. Our only regret is that we only stopped for 3 nights and wish we had stayed longer.
A most enjoyable stay at this resort. Beautiful location, very tranquil. The only noise you hear are the birds chirping! Dinner service was a bit slow, resulting in some food being served lukewarm. Pathway lighting could be improved in certain locations from lodges to restaurant.
We stayed in Lakaz for about a week for our honeymoon and were absolutely stunned by the beauty of the location, the incredible view (we stayed at Piton Canot which is at the top of the mountain), the kind staff (from reception, to the restaurant, to housekeeping, etc.). It was so relaxing and well kept. The food options at the restaurant were plentiful, and we were always impressed and delighted with our meals. It also helped that we had some live music (guitar and piano) while we dined at dinner. I will fondly remember Lakaz, and honestly hope to come back soon.
If you are looking to get away from it all, unwind and relax in a stunning location with only the sound of nature as company then this is the place for you. The staff and management make you feel like part of the family and nothing is too much trouble. The food and drink are excellent with a varied local cuisine and there are a wide range of activities available to you but you will probably find it difficult to leave the peace and tranquility of Lakaz! It is not often that a hotel exceeds my expectations and my only complaint is that I wish that we could have stayed longer!! I cannot recommend Lakaz Chameral highly enough - visit if you can!
We went to Lakaz for a few short days and we’re not disappointed. The hospitality was next level and you feel as though you are completely surrounded by beautiful nature. The food was glorious, and there’s a gorgeous rooftop bar to watch the sunset.
