Passed this pub loads of times, always thought it was a bit scruffy. How wrong was I. Good food selection, 20% discount for oap's, excellent service, clean modern decor with attentive staff, barmaid very friendly with good communication. We will be returning soon.

First visit to The Ship. Went on recommendation from friends. The food was OK which, for £9.95 a head, isn't bad. We took the two course option at £13pp which saves you a couple of quid off the normal price of a starter or desert. However, the deserts are pretty poor. The fruit crumble was inedible. This was mentioned to... More

I don't usually publish poor reports. preferring instead, to leave comments unsaid. However, I feel compelled to mention a recent visit for a meal. On the online website menu, is mentioned "beer battered Pollack", but I feel sure that when I visited, the restaurant menu stated that the fish was, in fact, cod. Still, never mind which fish it actually... More

My friend and I had dinner here last night. We noticed there was a deal on the steak so both ordered sirloin. We both enjoyed our steaks very much and the service was good with friendly staff. I didn't score a five because I asked for steak to be medium and it was very pink, actually more pink than my... More

a pleasant stay in a comfy, but small single room at a very fair price. After a walk to the sea, I returned at 8.10 to find the kitchen closed [I could have checked, but it was a surprise on a bank holiday], so I had to scramble along the high street to find another restaurant. However the bar man... More

Spent the night here as a stopover. Restaurant was closed as it was chef's night off so no dinner. Service was friendly in the bar and at breakfast. The rooms, however, are not so good. Single room and the single bed would only fit in one way round, the room was so small. Very hot and couldn't open a window... More

Our restaurant visit was spoiled on a very warm day by the temperature in the eating area. I would recommend eating in the bar area which is cooler as long as there is no football match on the T/V screen when it tends to get very noisy and boisterous. Food was good and well presented by attentive, friendly and helpful... More

I would just like to say how very disappointed me and my wife were with the Sunday carvery, the meal was so bland and tasteless, the gravy was like coloured water and as runny, vegetables well cant find the words to describe them. 3 slices of meat that was so small, and well, the cheff was amazing because I couldn't... Very busy place so reservations are advised. The Sunday roast buffet was very good. Parking limited and gets full very quickly. My only complaint would be, not enough staff for a busy Sunday. It seemed quite hectic and a little disorganised with nobody appearing to be in charge. It felt at times quite chaotic. We couldn't fault the food though.... More
