The Red Lion is a very old Inn, full of history and character. Our bedroom was no exception and had its own place in the history of this inn - it was the magistrates room. The bed was the biggest I have ever slept in and so comfy. The bathroom was spotless with all the necessary toiletries you could need....

Three nights stay in room 2 was an amazing experience. What a room! Spacious, clean, comfortable, brilliant king size bed. Lovely friendly, helpful staff, very welcoming. Fantastic full English breakfast with the tastiest eggs and sausages you could find. We had a wonderful time. Only down side - NO GHOST. David and Helen Melbourne Australia

We recently stayed for one night for our wedding anniversary. Staff were very welcoming and eager to show us our room and facilities. Unfortunately the room could not be locked from the outside so when we went for dinner all our valuables had to come with us - we felt this totally unacceptable. Sadly we were disappointed. Everything in the...

My boyfriend and I stayed overnight after a drive down from London and were recommended by another b&b as they were fully booked. I thought with this recommendation the red lion would be a worthy stay - seeing the pics and reading reviews sold it for me. We arrived and was welcomed by a helpful lady who showed us to...

Being on the road A LOT, it can get a bit lonely, but not when you stay at the Red Lion! The staff are all very friendly, and the locals in the bar make you feel like you are all old friends. I could not find a single fault, the rooms are very cozy, the bar enticing, the food to...

We also stayed this New Year and agree with Alex, had a fantastic time. John is a natural host, Paula (apologies if wrong name) is indispensible, running the bar and restaurant but still finding time to be social. Rooms are extremely clean, warm and well stocked. I've been to many more expensive places where you don't get a basket of...

“Room 2 is an amazing room but a bit noisy.”

“All of rooms were beautiful and spacious. Room two is huge and absolutely charming. My only tip would be to keep the windows closed at night - the pigeons roosted on the open window and sounded as though they were trying to break into our room in the early hours!”
