”Frozen woods” is nestled in a beautiful, remote area of Kumaon Himalayas in Uttaranchal at a height of 6900 feet with a panoramic view of the Greater Himalayan peaks like Nandadevi, Trishul and Panchchuli. The view of the Panchchuli range, for which Kumaon is famous, is perhaps nowhere so splendidly offered than this area. Those who wish to avail of this grand spectacle must remember that the Himalayas show their face only to early risers. Its sole charm is quiet walks along the dappled glen with wildflowers, rustling pine trees and serenity. Escape to a place where there is no sound except the silence of the mountains and lose yourself to the nature. It is not a place for people who want to watch TV, but if you like reading, writing or just walking, you will love this place.Driving through dense oak and pine forest cover, you reach ”Frozen woods” in a comfortable eight hour drive from Delhi. The property is close to a reserve forest teeming with bird and animal life. Deer, bears and panthers are not novelties in these forests.Mukteshwar is a renowned holiday getaway and is a mere 8 hour drive from Delhi. We have a number of special packages designed exclusively for our institutional clients/foreign clients showcasing the rugged natural terrain and the abundant wildlife. Uttarakhand also offers nature enthusiasts an abundance of flora and adventure lovers too will be pleased with the numerous mountain trails that afford opportunities to trek through some of the most beautiful terrain described lovingly by Jim Corbett the renowned author, game hunter and wildlife conservationist.

The idea was to spend 26th January weekend quietly with my wife. Both of us alongwith a friend and his wife landed at Frozen woods around 3 pm after a long drive from Delhi and instantly fell in love with the place. It is right on the side of picturesque peora-mukteswar road and thus very easy to locate.Rooms were large, spacious, clean and beautiful. The vast compound outside the rooms was a great place to bask in the sunlight and enjoy 180 degree view of Himalayas. The next morning we had a good view of Nanda Devi. The staff members were always at their toes to make our stay comfortable. In the night sitting in the dining area around fireplace, having a few drinks and amazing butter chicken by young chef Rahul made everything memorable. We also had a chance to have a long chat with the wonderful, down-to-earth host and owner Mr. Manoj. He was humble enough to share his own life story and how this man from Bihar had this vision to live and feel the charm and beauty of mountains. All in all, a place where I would wish to go more than once and will highly recommend to everyone.

In search for some respite from a cluttered urban lifestyle, we found this beautifully designed accommodation and nest-like coziness, the panoramic views right from our balconies providing an impressive spectacle of the snow capped mountains and clear skies. The owner is an amazing host and is blessed with an equally supportive team. It was a real good find :) #seredipity #amustvisit #peace

For weekend get-a -way I chose a place from where I could view the Himalayan peaks ; be it Himachal or Uttarakhand …but thatz the beauty of staying in Delhi -NCR ; you get to wheel away on long drives to places f….a….r from the maddening crowd & pollution. My net search brought up the ‘Frozen Woods ‘ -- a retreat which shared great reviews of being ‘ The jewel in the Crown ‘. Once reached, we were greeted by our gracious host , Mr Manoj Kumar , with open arms and comforting smile on his face ; true to the name , Frozen Woods Resort is enveloped by a panoramic view of magnificent Himalayan peaks like Nandadevi, Trishul and Panchuli, , and located in a quaint village … Satkhol deep in forest , yet very personal touch of staying experience ! We parked ourselves in the Family suites and loved the ambience immediately . The well spaced room with a mesmerizing backdrop of the mighty Himalayan ranges in the front portico, whilst wooded forest at the side-ways & back captivated us to the core . Simple upholstery and furnishings , tastefully decorated, gave a warm touch to the homely decor. The bathroom was clean, well-lit, nicely fitted, with hot water at service . Outside the Suites, the grounds, have log tables and chairs, with adjacent dining area . Food was simple yet tasty with excellent set of menu .timed for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Best part of the pet-friendly homestay was Shiro was liked & loved by all. Shiro is our canine son who has worn down due to age and cannot walk properly ; but very friendly and trained travel jewel . We met Mohit who manages the estate and another excellent host , taking care of our knitty -gritties and enriching out taste buds through his wonderful culinary skills .Everyone welcomed us with open hearts . Felt like , I knew them from ages ! Himalayas keep calling us & we are definitely under the spell …. This time we undertook an experiment ! With virtual office and WFH readiness, we did not take full vacation from office, rather wanted to do WFH from the rustic environment of ideal getaway in an offbeat destination. Although we carried our high-speed dongles , somehow they were not responding . The Wifi connection on the first day ran into hiccups due to some unplanned maintenance activities at the server end . Mr. Manoj went out of his way to help us with the alternate set up, till the main broadband was restored . After that it was a cakewalk with office deliveries, Teams ‘ meeting and client calls . We were thrilled ! This is not the place to go if your idea of a holiday is 5 star hotels, chilled beer by the pool side etc. It is a place where you breathe clean air, listen to birdsong all day and watch the valleys and mountains stretching out before you. The rooms all face the Himalayan snow ranges, and the view is a 180- 240 degree one. One could spend hours just looking the mountains. On the first night , my son woke me up at 4:30 a.m. . He was excited to show me something spellbound… We walked outside our rooms at -2 degrees C and looked up to gasp at a sky awash in silver stars. Gazellions of stars and constellations ,,, like a dream canopy hung from the top ;captivating, making us wonder why we’re roughing it out in the city, when one should be fleeing to the mountains. Somewhere to just let our minds luxuriate in being still, only to be interrupted by sharp gasps at an achingly beautiful starlit night, with Geminids meteor shower sparking the endless horizon . We forgot the cold and kept gazing for half hour , when suddenly the starts started dropping one by one . It was eerie feeling but mesmerizing sensation indeed !! Next day morning started with a golden Sunrise on the snow clad Himalayan peaks , making us watch the best show in the world unfold: the peaks of Nanda Ghunti, Mrig Thuni, Nanda Khat, Nanda East and West, and Nanda Kot , the five peaks of Panchachuli on the right & the ones near Nepal border . What more can anybody want ? I felt that I couldn’t have come to a better place; nothing more, nothing less !

Absolutely loved our stay here! We traveled as a group of 4 plus 2 kids and 2 pets. The location is very convenient and away from the typical crowded and commercial spaces at Mukteshwar. The rooms we got were spacious yet cozy and were nicely done. The service was really good and the guys there leave no stone unturned to please their guests! The food was great and the staff is more than happy to cater your personal meal preferences. The highlight was meeting Manoj (the owner of the property) and his family! They took real good care of us and actually went out of their way to make us comfortable! Loved it here and will be back soon!

Had a great stay at the Frozen Woods resort. Even though it's a resort, it makes you feel at home. Manoj and his team does a great job catering to all needs. Personalised attention and helping with any local stuff make you want to come back to the resort. Manoj personally takes interest in ensuring the stay is comfortable and everything that's needed is taken care of. Don't forget to ask Manoj for recommendations for local treks
