Hi, it's a 3 and a half to 4 hour drive from Dehradun and route via Vikas Nagar is better than via Mussooire. Yes, we'd been getting families with kids and even infants and not been any problem so far. Hiking distance from parking spot is roughly 2 kms (easy to moderate) and yes, if the kids are active and fit, I think they'll like the trek part. Hope this helps.

We are situated at around 7500 feets above the sea level. If you can manage the 2 km trek to reach The Goat Village, you'll find the breeze clearer and fresher instead. Also because the area is covered by step farms on one side, and dense forests on the another.
For the trek, we can provide assistance with ponies & porters. It's a baby friendly place. We sometimes get infants too. :)
Hope the answer helps.
