The Rajalaksmi Guesthouse has a great location in the middle of the budget hotel neighborhood. A small street from the back of the hotel goes directly to the beach 100 meters away. The rooms are small and a little worn, but nicely clean. There is a restaurant where they serve good breakfast and a decent lunch and dinner. The staff is friendly and helpful. Not a particularly interesting place, but a reasonable choice if you want a cheap accommodation.
This hotel have Best location .just back side this hotel beach and all the site seeni just. Walking distance and clean room on very good price..and also food is very very good Staff is very good overall we had a great stay
We had a short 2 night stay here whilst visiting the temples. Nice little guesthouse on a road stuffed full of them. Our room was small, but very clean and comfortable. The bed was fine and the A/C worked well in the room we had. There is a cafe/central area at the end of the building on the first floor that was a nice area to sit and read or relax. We only ate one breakfast there of a small omelette which was OK. Can't really comment on the rest of the food as we didn't have any. What I would say is that here, along with all of the surrounding area, are very specifically targeted towards tourists/travellers. The food that they serve and the prices they they charge all reflect this. If you want much better, cheaper Indian food, head to the small road to the left of the bus station and go 25m down there for an excellent place Mamalla Bhavan??). My only negative (hence 4 stars) was that they simply couldn't get the Internet working for us at all. They tried for 3 days, and even gave us the next door guesthouse and the cafe wifi, but they all kept disappearing. Maybe not their fault, but I could get the WiFi signal from the 2 guesthouses opposite the whole time. Not a big issue, but as we were trying to book future hotels, just a bit of a pain.…
Nice location. Clean rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Mr. Laxman helped us a lot. He arranged rickshaw for sightseeing and car for onward journey. In house restaurant served good food. Pondy beach is on walkable distance. We enjoyed our stay.
Really good value place to sleep, freandly helpfull staff. This place has good vibes to stay. We just arrived from Holland, so the sealingfan coudn"t get the heat out of us at night, so an arco room would be better for us next time. Daisy and Peter
I stayed here in September for a few days, in a basic room with only a ceiling fan, there are better rooms with AC but this suited me, quite a good location among restaurants etc. Allan the manager friendly and helpful .
We enjoyed our time at Rajalakshmi Guest House. The staff were friendly, the room was quiet and decent value. Only complaints were that there was a dog who was a little bit antisocial, and that the sheets were a little bit scratchy. But we loved that there was a water purifier and lots of pleasant areas to sit outside.
Exceptionally clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, the owner, Jothi, is very friendly and accommodating, and he goes the extra mile to make his guesthouse the best place to stay in Mahabalipuram. It is located 1 minute walk away from the beach which is perfect, and 5 minutes walk from the local attractions. The staff are all very nice and friendly, and on top of all this, Rajalakshmi guesthouse is the cheapest one in the town! The New Cafe attached is also a great place to eat - they also do not use single use plastic and are ethically conscious.
The hotel staff was really helpful and kind. When we asked for help on how to get from the guesthouse to the airport in Chennai, the staff explained us several options in detail including a pretty cheap but yet comfortable and safe one – the one we finally took. In addition, the staff also helped us with which movie to watch in one of the cinemas in Chennai with a lot of people and the authentic atmosphere of an Indian cinema.
Comfortable, nicely decorated, cheap and well-located. Welcoming and helpful staff: we are a family of 5, and each of us, in turn and in his / her own way, has been pretty demanding and Mital (Meetal?) and Anto were really good with us. And the cashewnut curry they serve at the restaurant is scrumptious!
