My friend and I booked a few rooms at this wonderful little guest house in Mahabalipuram. The rooms were large and comfortable and the owner, Suruvan is the kind of host that makes travelling fun. He made breakfast, checked on our comfort, helped us find our way to and from the airport, and found a person who could administer Covid 19 testing in the guest house. Definitely would stay there again 5 stars

We booked an airconditioned room for a day just before Diwali 2021. It was just us and another family. Hence, the ambience was quiet. Also after Covid-19, not much tourists and November also being the rainy season was a little more quieter overall. The property location, when driving to the hotel may not seem as a wise decision as a narrow sparsely lit and sparsely populated road led up to the hotel and also it being in a Fisherman colony called 'Tsunami Colony' is off putting but all -in-all its a great location and not at all in a smelly fishing location as the name would suggest. All basic amenities, such as air-conditioner, hot water kettle, geyser and Fan were working fine. They is no television set as it a place set to reconnect with nature and I had no need for using the WiFi as both Vodafone and Airtel Internet services were working fine. They no longer serve food post Covid-19, but close to so many shacks on the beach that it was not a problem either. Also let the owner know if there are any plans of late night visits as he locks up at around 10 (keep in mind its a Home Stay) P.S. The temples no longer open before 10 AM in the morning (post Covid-19 ASI Mahabalipuram Timing) till 5 PM.

Saravanan and his wife run a lovely, low-key homestay with the option of dinner, should you want to eat in. It's a short walk from most of the town but very much in a residential neighborhood--there's a reason the area is called "Fishermen's Colony." Saravanan is happy to arrange cars and other things, as needed. If I go back to Mahabalipuram, I would definitely stay here.

We stayed 2 nights in February and felt this was a good option for the town. It is close to everything; we walked (at least one way) all the way to the 5 Rathas, stopping at all the other monuments enroute. It wasn't easy for us to find as the main road in was temporarily blocked and our driver had to find another way in. Saravanan was on the phone with him and ended up leading us to the house on his motorbike. It is quite quiet, although we did hear the wedding (accompanied by laser lights) pounding out music from the high end resort across the field one night. Ear plugs helped. There was also noise at night from neighbourhood children playing in the street as well as the street dogs. But we found this in a lot of places. Food was good and plentiful. Saravanan was kind enough to allow us to grab some things from the fridge on our last morning as we had a very early departure. The room was good although the bathroom was a bit dark. Saravanan and his family were wonderful hosts. All in all a good stay.

Cleaner and prettier than most guesthouses in the village, still we had some problems on the ground floor room as the noise of the nearby wedding resort kept us awake till 3 am and in the morning at 7 the neighbours were up with children making noises very close. It was better when we were moved to the first floor. The host were super, but the breakfast was very poor for what we pay. I would improve by simply getting an italian moka coffe maker and serving a more fruit and cut (we were given a slice of melon uncut and a whole orange to peel ourselves) and give at least two chutneys with the dosa, at least 2 fried eggs not just a tiny one, and serve good jam please. It was dishartening to be served this indian fluorescent artificial strawberry jam, only to see the patron of the house to take out her Bonne Maman jam and keep it to herself. For what we pay you can afford that.

Located on the far north west of town, Blue Moon Guest House is a friendly and welcoming place to rest your head that offers peace and quiet after a busy day amongst typical Indian traffic. My husband and I were travelling through Southern India and stayed two nights at Blue Moon. Our first night we arrived very late; however, our host waited patiently for our arrival with a welcoming smile to greet us. He also helped us arrange a driver to pick us up at the airport in Chennai and take us to the accommodation! We slept like babies in a comfortable room complete with fan and air conditioning. The daily breakfast is served fresh and tastes delicious! You can have your choice of western or Indian breakfast. My husband and I chose Indian breakfast which we absolutely loved. Would recommend staying at Blue Moon Guest House to anyone needing a comfortable place to rest and friendly service to take care of you.

This guesthouse looks attractive. We had a nicely painted room with aircon and fan. The balcony is a great place to sit. There is usualy a nice sea breeze. Its just away from the tourist streets in the little village. The family running this place is very friendly. On the downside, our bathroom was a bit dark and dingy and whenever we used the sink in the room, there was a bad smell, probably to do with a lack of an "s", bend. If you want the room cleaned or need soap or toilet paper, you have to ask.

If you are looking for somewhere within walking distance of everything that Mahabalipuram offers then look no further! The excellent reviews of the Blue Moon are well deserved. This is the perfect example of a homestay, sharing a house with a fantastic host and his family who cannot do enough to help. The room was spotless with hot water and AC. Staying here allowed us to get a real feel for the village, something you would not get from staying in a large hotel. Thank for a lovely stay!!
