When we arrived to the guest house, they gave us a room in another guesthouse without telling us. Then I went back to ask them about that and they told me that silver moon was overbooked (and that the did that on purpose) , so we had to stay in their sister guest house. It's not okay to farm out guests without letting them know . I think we got a bigger room, but we wanted to stay at the guest house we booked. The same night around 21.45 when we were in bed, a man knocked very loudly on our door . He continued until vi opened and said that we needed to pay for air-conditioning?! I told him, that he needs to take this with the other guest house, since they were the ones who send us there. And that we will not pay anything extras after being moved. He continued arguing and saying that we have to pay for the AC, since our original booking was a room without AC. Again I told him, that we won't pay anything extras. At the day of check out they again asked us to pay for AC. I already got an email from booking.com saying that we shouldn't pay, since they moved us. So again I told him no. 20 minutes after leaving the guest house, I get an email, saying that we owe them money for AC. This is totally insane and the worst experience ever.

The owner is helpful and accomodating. The location is perfect and right in the middle of fisherman colony, with great restaurants only a couple of minutes by walk. Perhaps the best budget stay in Mahabalipuram!

We stayed in a double room for 4 nights at Silver Moon. The room was very clean and the size was Allright. We had a fan and a private bathroom for just 700Rs (in Off-season). The staff was really friendly and helpful and the attached café is the best place for breakfast or coffee in Mahabalipuram, also pretty cheap. Would definitely stay again!

Not a good experience here. We were initially should to a room that was shabby and unclean and had a cracked toilet. What must they think of their guests to do this? We subsequently looked at 4 other and chose the least dirty. The bed linen had obviously been left unchanged from the last occupants and my request for clean linen ignored. Great potential here but some changes need to be made.

Joe is the nicest and most helpful person, always smiling and making sure you get everything you need (tips for dinner, getting around at the Mahabs, planning your further route). Rooms are spacious, very neat and clean, 24 hours hot shower. Thank you for a wonderful stay and the good advice on how to get to Trichy!

We stayed for 2 weeks at Silermoons. Excellent place with clean and spacious rooms, nice outdoor area and a superb staff who will provide everything you can wish. Very well located to discover Mamallapuram. Joe's cafe, for a good breakfast and real coffee, is on the ground floor.

Had been to Silver moon guest house during Christmas 2018 with family and friends. Below are the pros and cons of the guest house. Pros:- 1. Budget stay within walking distance from the beach 2. Lots of eating option hearby 3. Very helpful owner Joe who lent his two wheeler for our personal work 4. Spacious rooms 5. Clean bathroom 6. Discount in Joe's cafe Cons:- 1. No parking place in the guest house. But Joe was helpful enough to arrange us 2 parking slots in a nearby resort 2. No blanket provided. When asked for it at night, the attender showed the bedsheet and asked to use that 3. No lift, so people travelling with aged should ask for lower floor rooms Overall, a budget option in Mahabalipuram. Friendly and helpful owner. The main beach nearby is little dirty and not maintained.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Silver Moon Guest House in August 2018. We had a bad start with some changing of rooms and moving back and forth, but that was really not much trouble. When we were going to bed we discovered something in the room that we did not like (don´t worry, it was NOT bed bugs), and the owner Joe set us up with a new room instantly. The owner is a really nice guy who seems to really take care of his guests and he always finds the time to have a chat (if you would like that) and make sure everything is okay. Apparently the food in the cafe downstairs is really good, but we never ate there for some reason. We highly recommend Mr. Joe´s place when staying in Mahabalipuram

Their extremely spacious and well appointed rooms are offered with excellent amenities and the value conscious guests will cherish their stay here for the perfect pricing, comfortable beds, clean linens, air-conditioning, spotless bathroom and lovely bookstand. Silver Moon doesn't have parking in their premises but safe parking was provided for us in close proximity. The host will leave you at peace and never tout for anything. Mahabalipuram is a pocket-sized destination with the beach, monuments and eateries at walking distance from your stay.

After a long, long flight from Australia it was lovely to be picked up at the airport by the hotel driver and delivered straight to our room. Friendly staff that offered lots of guidance on where to go and what to see.
