Benoit welcomes you personally in his home, in his "Maison" surronded by tea estates. He takes care of each of his guests. He interacts with you in order to anticipate and fulfill your smallest desires. He has pleasure to share with the guests his meals, his activities, his club meetings, his purchases at the village market so as in the best fashion shops. He likes open and friendly discussions with his hosts and has no forbidden or taboo subjects. His long business experiences in industries and services may be of some interest for you. He suggests music, books, walks, visits... He takes full care of your kids and of your seniors, if you wish. During weekends and short holidays, he can become the "correspondents" parents of your children staying in the local boarder schools. He is also ready to organise parties for your families, friends and associates (up to 100 guests). Please visit "LA Maison" and enjoy the best climate in the world.

We went with friends to celebrate our special day and I must say that this place is really amazing. The owners Benoit and Monu are very friendly and they take care of there guests very well. The moment you enter the property you will b pleasantly surprised to see the place because of its beautiful location. The interiors are absolutely amazing and have been given a personal touch by the owners, every detail has been taken well care of. The food is home cooked and the kitchen staff is also very welcoming and hygienic. They take care of all your requirements. This place is absolutely delightful, a must visit. Would be visiting soon again...

Lovely setting with very agreeable hosts. Nothing is too much trouble & hosts are keen to make you feel welcome & at home. The outdoor fire in the garden in the evening for drinks with the other guests before dinner was very convivial. The hosts even provide shawls if anyone feels a bit chilly! Spacious rooms, large en-suites, tea & coffee always available. It was our first home stay in India & it didn’t disappoint.

This is a beautiful property located off the main road and up in the hills shining tea estates. Our hosts Benoit and Monu are there to greet you and welcome you. They have an eclectic mix of dogs, cats, geese, birds and rabbits as pets on the property. The food is great and well prepared by the staff. The property has a fantastic view of the estates from the rear and is a great place for an outdoor breakfast.

Our hosts can be a little more accommodating in terms of their guests and their requests. The lady tends to be rude and pushy which gets annoying at times. Customer service and management would be very helpful for them. However we looked past it and really enjoyed our weekend.

During our 3 weeks in Southern India, this was by far the worst accommodation. Much is made of Benoit and his welcome as a host. We found him not particularly friendly, not particularly interesting, and he certainly showed no particular interest in us. If that is a reflection of us then so be it, but I spent my entire working life meeting new people everyday, and I believe I am an effective judge of character. When I think of all the other marvellous and friendly hosts we found elsewhere, this place left me cold and empty.
As mentioned by the previous reviewer, meals were confused and scrappy. The poor and inadequate kitchen staff were overworked and unable to produce food quickly enough or in any sort of order. For example, I had asked for eggs for breakfast, but these arrived as we had all finished and were getting up to leave.
One might consider the small sitting rooms ‘quaint’, but our bedroom was dreadful. The so called Romantic Room (sic) has a large four poster bed covered in thin cotton drapes sitting in the middle of a small room, thus leaving small passages around it, a small wardrobe, a table and little else. One small table light supplied kept shorting out, but Benoit showed no interest in fixing it. The bathroom, although spacious, had no shower curtain or towel racks. The bath mat was a small thick rug. All these became soaked and wouldn’t dry, especially as the maid left the towels folded in four. This was compounded, in my view, by the room feeling damp.
If you are unlucky enough to be there when it rains, as we were, the noise on the corrugated sheet roof is absolutely horrendous. We got no sleep. This compounded by the fact there is only a very small thin partition door to the next bedroom so you can hear every sound and word spoken by your neighbours.
Much is also made of the ‘pretty’ garden. It’s full of hanging plants yes, but they are all overgrown, seeding and uncared for. The lawn has a number of old tables, umbrellas and chairs reminiscent of a run down pub garden. Attractive? Definitely not.
As experienced homestay hosts, Benoit and Monu should have this running like clockwork, but the whole scenario is disorganised and chaotic. One feels they don’t work together as a team, and, despite the fact we are in India, I felt sorry for the overworked and unrecognised staff.
All in all a huge let down.

We’d booked for 3 nights but left a day early.
Let me explain.
We could not face a further night (however good the food is) to sleep in a freezing cold room, on hard beds with the worst pillows ever; a bathroom with not so much as a heater in 14 degrees of air temperature; window coverings which are so thin and don’t fill the glazed spaces......

Whilst the hosts are delightful and nothing is too much trouble, it would appear that this business is more of a hobby for them and thus is ‘not serious’. This was demonstrated by them abandoning the 6 of us house guests whilst they rushed off to attend to some urgent business prior to a fortnights holiday with friends. A ‘home stay’ without the hosts?

I would have loved to sit in the garden but where were the comfortable chairs?

There are quite a few reviews similar in tone to mine. This establishment has the recipe to make something great but the chef is confused.

Thank you to Benoit & Monu for a wonderful stay in their beautiful home. The location is perfect, in the middle of tea fields with beautiful views. The house is very nicely decorated, cosy and confortable. We've spent some great evenings talking around a bonfire and the food, with western influence, was delicious. Monu is a great cook! They gave us some great advice on where to go, where to have lunch and what to visit.
We'll be back for sure !

Absolutely amazing heritage property. In the midst of lush nature, tea garden mountains on one side and valley on the other. Great hospitality where the owners themselves discreetly take care of the details to make your stay comfortable. Excellent food, made to your taste and liking. The flora in the property is from around the world and is an added treat for nature lovers.

This was one of the most amazing of my holidays. The hosts Monu, Benoit, and Sir Mathew are wonderful. Everything was personalised to our requirement. They were also kind enough to take us around Kotagiri. Having tea while watching the morning sunrise, a walk around the tea estate with Monu and Sir Mathew, delicious freshly made food and juices, networking with families, amazing collectibles of Benoit, the host's vision for promoting art and creativity are some of my wonderful memories. I will be visiting this place soon again. To rejuvenate.
