It is the best place to stay in pelling, Sikkim. Stayed here with my partner for 3 nights and each day was an absolute delight. Mr Tshering and Mr Bhutia makes sure that you get the best experience in terms of food, stay, sharing knowledge and history above their culture, religion and heritage. You can never experience the true Sikkim culture if you end up staying in one of those hotels in Pelling. Highly recommended!

If you plan to witness the graciousness and kindness of Sikkimese culture, this is the place to be. Our host left no stones unturned to make our stay comfortable. Right from the welcome tea to a group of tired tourists to a heartfelt dinner of home cooked delicacies topping it off with a generous send off in the traditional way with the elements to protect us on our journey. There was an ambient kindness in the air which made the last day of our trip a most memorable one.
The homestay has the perfect setting with a picturesque view of the Himalaayas and a clear blue sky to gaze at, lying in the green lawn. It appears to be a page out of a children's book and takes us back to the carefree days. If you plan to take a break from the hustle and bustle and wish to explore the amazing Pelling, you should not go further in your search for the perfect place to stay.

Experience the warmth of Sikkimese culture amidst the cool breeze coming from the Kanchenjunga.

The place is a heaven for nature lovers. Surrounded by lush green forests, it has a warm and rustic feel while providing a very comfortable stay. The rooms were equipped with all basic amenities and were clean. The rooms and the lawn all face the mountains - wake up early to see the sun rays on the peaks of Kanchenjunga show it in all its majestic splendour. What makes it even better is the amazing warmth and hospitality from the host family. The food was tasty and our requests of food preferences were accommodated. As we travelled with a child, we were delighted the children in the Homestay kept her company. The place also has many animals, ample opportunities for exploring the gardens. The hosts were very generous in spending time to take us around all the while explaining us the history and culture of the place.

We left the best stay for our last day in Sikkim, this place was so soothing that we were half convinced to give Pelling a skip and spend our day in the luscious lawn of the property looking at the might mountains straight infront of us.

Our hosts were gracious from the get go and gave us their full attention. From welcome drinks to tea snacks and authentic Sikkimese dinner spread, and topped it all with "Chang" (local Millet drink). Mr. Tshering gave us a tour of their vast property where they grow their own tea and other local vegetations like Squash which they served us for dinner.

This sublime hospitality made us reconsider delaying our flights and staying another day. But alas we left after only 1 day with a promise to revisit soon.

The Phamlhakhang Eco Homestay on the Pelling Rimbi Road is a great place to stay and sample traditional Bhutia hospitality. I loved the healthy meals cooked by an ever smiling Sangeeta over the earthen fire, the cats curling around the cosy fireplace and eyeing you lazily while one spooned mouthfuls of spinach and pumpkin soup with morsels of tender marinated pork in between. The kids danced playfully around and showed off cartwheels.
Tshering Bhutia, the polite, quiet and knowledgeable host showed me around two of the oldest monasteries in the area, at Sang Gnag Choeling and Dubdi in Yuksom- a tranquil and serene experience through natural walksways leading up to the monasteries.

I would recommend Phamlhakhang Eco Homestay, with its fantastic view of Kanchendzonga, right from the bedroom window, for an experience of Sikkim, close to a hospitable family and close to nature.

We reached this place around 6:30pm. A few hours in and we were hooked by the warmth and the hospitality of the family that owns this beautiful place. Come morning, we felt even happier because the views from the lodge room windows were breath-taking. The first night was like a well rounded trailer for a film that was to unfold: there is something interesting for everyone. A special shoutout to Doma aunty for the highest level of hospitality. Overall, this would be an easy recommendation for anyone visiting Pelling.

Amidst the daily hustle, spending a while with nature works best. Here’s our experience in Phamlhakhang Ecohomestay, a lovely place to spend a moment with nature. The people here are very humble and well-behaved, especially Mr. Tshering Wangchuk Bhutia and the service we received was top-notch. And how can I not speak about the food...each meal they served was delicious. So, overall I can say that it's worth every penny and minute.

The place is suitable doe a perfect homestay...the hospitality, the surroundings and the staff are extremely helpful. Mr.Wangchuk is a perfect owner . His family is completely supportive. The home made food from his own organic fram is extremely delicious, simple and authentic. The kanchenjunga mountains in front if his homestay is a spectacular moment to catch. I highly recommend his service and play to stay.

We found the Phamlagang Eco lodge on trip advisor and it looked like an interesting place to stay the three nights we intended to spend in this zen little town . It didn't have much reviews though and the couple of pictures they had put up looked promising. We decided to contact the lodge and find out more. They sent us view from the rooms and we were sold .
Their hospitality welcomed us right from the moment we reached NJP. Mr. Bhutia was extremely kind and offered to pick us up at Sikkim border while on his way from Gangtok to Pelling. Primarily because he was worried that the roads were not in the best of condition and we may have a diffcult time getting a decent ride . From the moment he picked us up, we knew we are in a company of a very warm person who loved talking about all things under the sun and made the 5-6 hour long journey on wobbly under-construction roads a breeze. His background in agriculture was a bonus. Though this we would only realize once we had spent a couple of days in the estate where this quaint little lodge sits.
The lodge is located in lower pelling and is sort of away from the main town. The vehicle only goes upto a point and then its five minute walk down the hill . We reached in the evening around 5 , welcomed by a big mug of their home grown tea ( they add a pinch of salt to cut the acidity! ) and some delicious local snacks. The view from our room ( view from all rooms would be similar) turned out to be as promised in the picture sent to us, infact more. The clouds were playing hide n seek and we didn't really get a glimpse of Kanchenjunga that evening. Nonethless the expanse of valley flanked by mountains in itself is a rewarding view.
A bowl of noodles was prepared for us when told them we were a bit hungry from the long journey. Best bowl of noodles we have ever had accompanied by the sikkim red chilly pickle ( a pickle we didn't tire of the whole stay there and kept asking for more ). We had chosen to take breakfast and dinner as part of our package, thus we got to relish the local home made food and some really interesting dishes. A lot of produce was grown right in their estate like wild fern, something called khoos khoos ( might have spelt it wrong ) even milk...fresh and completely organic. The food was served to us in their very cosy traditional dining room ornamented by family pictures.Family pictures which showed how closely their family is linked with Buddhism. Food was cooked mostly by the family members and served in generous portions accompanied with Mr. Bhutia and Tshering's stories.
The sun rises early here, so did we. To our delight , clouds had given way and Kanchenjunga was visible in all it's glory along with the other peaks. What a wonderful view to wake up to. This day was spent exploring the two monasteries on foot and the ruins of the palace. Tshering accompanied us and kept entertaining us with all sorts of trivial stories about his town and culture. His mother even packed us some parathas and apples for the way!
Third day, Mr Bhutia had planned a unique day for us which included a trip to a small but powerful waterfall in his estate, visit to his unique tea growing experiment in Pelling, walk through expansive cardamom fields , some delicious giant cucumbers rubbed with the red chilly I wrote about earlier and a very relaxing soak in hot water infused with *herb i forgot name of*. Mr. Bhutia is really an exceptional host who genuinely cares about your experience of not just his lodge but also of his beautiful town.
It will be great if you give this place a chance. It made our pelling trip a very happy trip. We are glad to have stumbled upon this property and hope others stumble upon it too.

The lodge is remotely located from Pelling and therefore, it was very quiet and serene. The property has a fantastic view of Kanchenjunga. Where it really excelled was the genuinely warm hospitality of the host family. They took every little care to ensure the guests were enjoying their stay. We had Tshering, Mr Bhutia's nephew looking after us and he even took the other couple for a whole day trek without charging anything extra. We had dinner and breakfast at the lodge. Food was very yummy and the vegetables came from their garden. They are very proud of their lovely little lodge and of the town they live in and they genuinely wanted to share the beautiful experience with the guests.
