We had the most incredible stay at this place. The homestay is basic but the hosts are very warm , hospitable and accommodating. The place is super clean, the food is absolutely yum and the homestay is surrounded by greenery There is a climb to reach the homestay We look forward to going back and spending some more time there

Dara Gaon Village Retreat is beautifully located. The hosts, Shiva & Radha and their children Nesang and Prabal made the stay truly memorable. Even their dog, Tintin was so friendly. The rooms were as comfortable as you can get in a home stay. Hot water was available round the clock. The home-made food was superb. Would surely like to visit again.

I cannot speak highly enough of this beautiful retreat, only wish I had more than one night there. Shiva and his wife Radha and their daughter Nesang are beautiful, gentle people, who welcomed me warmly. I found the steps to the property daunting, but they were forgotten upon reaching the top, such a magical setting. Shiva showed me to my cottage, an utterly charming spot with everything I needed, plus a deck to sit out on to enjoy the beautiful view and the complete peace. My dinner and breakfast were both delicious local food, and Nesang explained at dinner the belief in the benefits of the large brass plate my meal was served on. Outside reception is a charming layout of garden and water feature, the latter filled with large and lazy goldfish enjoying life, and local frogs visiting. Just such an idyllic picture, and I spent some time near the water being mesmerised. Waking in the morning to find one of the family dogs curled up on my doorstep gave me the feeling he had been there to 'watch over me'. This retreat is very much a place to stay, for at least a week, and be healed even if you don't think you need that. I keep the scarf you put around my neck on a wall where I see it every day, and remember a most special stay.

I personally enjoy homestays..they give an experience to stay close to locals and so look for good homestays..! Daragaon retreat surpasses your expectations..its a beautiful setting amidst nature..very cosy and comfortable rooms. Its about 6 kms from the busy Pelling and makes the perfect setting for a peaceful vacation. Would specially thank the hosts, who are very warm and friendly and make sure you are comfortable. Enjoyed every bit of my stay whether the cosy setting, the great local food, amazing hosts, the friendly pet dog and the amazing views all round you..! In Pelling would highly recommend this place...!

We have stayed there for 2 nights on 12th & 13th May, 2019. Excellent hospitality we received. I gave full credit score to Mrs. Radha and Miss Nusang for continuous cooperation. Good food and nice behaviour of Mr. Shiva too. The only de-merit of this Homestay is location. I recommend to any Tourist, those who can break the stairs. Unless it is a good for all aspect.

The hosts Shiva and Radha and their daughter Nusang are a great family to be with ! We stayed here in April 2019. The place offers beautiful views and is amidst nature.. Food cooked was very homely and we really longed for it... We had to leave their place at 6am for our return flight and the hosts made hot aloo parathas and packed it for us which was extremely kind of them ! We couldn't stop thanking them for this lovely gesture. While leaving they felicitated us with white scarfs as per Buddhist tradition and thanked us and that was again a very sweet gesture ! We stayed on the 2nd floor in the New House room and it was very spacious. The room however was poorly lit and needs to be improved. Mr. Shiva is extremely helpful. We came around 8pm and he came to the main street to pick us up and he helped us with the luggage since his helper wasn't available.

We stayed here for 2 nights and we enjoyed it thoroughly. One of the best experience to stay with locals. Rooms are very nice and decently spacious. But the best part is Shiva (owner) and his family and the way they treat you. You will get to enjoy home made food and You also can try locally made beer if you want to . And you can the hospitality in everything they have done with homestay. You can relax , read relevant books , take a walk with well trained dog (TT) . They truly follow " अथिती देवो भव " ( Visitor is a god ) and the entire family exceeded the expectation. One can see happiness and satisfaction on their faces when they serve you. Best wishes and keep it up.

Excellent home stay we ever had outside our home. 10 KM away from Peeling. If you have hired / own cab it does not matter. The owner Mr. Shiva and his wife Radha ji are extremely very honest, lovingly people. Provide good home food. Accommodation is excellent. Rooms are quite big. Rest rooms, bed room are all very neat and clean. Before you arrive, if you inform Mr. Shiva. He can come to the street road. His Home is about 100 m from the main street. If you have luggage and pre-informed Mr. Shiva he will do the arrangement. BSNL, JIO does not work here. You can always contact through Mr. Shiva. Very nice stay. Liked it.

Mr. Shiva & his family were very polite, friendly & helpful. As we had reached there at 10.00pm , this gentlemen helps us with herbal medicine for travel sickness just by looking at us. The food served here was also very delicious even came to know about the culture and places to explore as Pelling was our 1st destination in Sikkim. Highly recommended...........do visit......!!!

We stayed at Shiva & Radha Gurung's Village Retreat for two nights. We had booked two stone cottages. The property is quite beautiful and the host family takes perfect care of the guests. Traditional welcome, traditional food, traditional beer..all of that left us pleasantly amazed. Now some suggestions for the would be guests:- 1. Go for this property without any doubt. 2. Make a plan for atleast three nights, as there are several things to do here including sight seeing, trek, village/nature walk etc., A prior word with the owner will help you decide better. 3. On notice in advance, they can arrange a good body massage also. Aged guests may make good use of this facility. 4. Please try traditional dring TUMBA. It is wow!
