Nestled amidst scenic views of Kanchenjunga, Udaan Olive Hotel & Spa earns rave reviews for its welcoming atmosphere and diverse amenities, including a recreation zone and delicious vegetarian options. While many guests admire the hotel's beautiful interiors and commend the cleanliness of its cozy rooms, opinions are mixed regarding room sizes and noise levels. The service is generally celebrated for its responsiveness and personalized attention, though occasional service delays have been reported. Some travelers find the dining value for money, despite remarks about high food costs and extra charges for certain services.

Location is a bit far away from pelling.
Rooms are well designed, maintained, clean & tidy. They feel comfy and cozy.

Neha and Deep at the reception and other staff have been very attentive and helpful throughout the stay.

Hot water is available in wash basin and shower. However warm water for toilet sprayer is a desperate addition required.
Room heaters are available on demand.

Food offered in restaurant is veg only. Only buffet is available and no ala carte is available. However one can order only required items from available buffet menu.
Food is tasty and hygienic. Ambience in the restaurant is also nice.

Good view of the hills is available from the room however the view depends on the time of year you are visiting. Summers you will get clear view however other times there will be considerable fog affecting the visibility.

I would definitely recommend the hotel to visitors in pelling.

Stayed at room 402 for two nights from 17th July 21, the premium room is well maintained, with all amenities offered by a three star hotel. The balcony offers a panaromic view of the hills. The food is good and so is the service. Special mention to food taste and quality, whatever we ordered are yummy and finger licking.

Property:
Not crowded by hotels/homestays around as in upper Pelling. Stayed at the Attic room 403 which was on the 5th floor. Got almost 180 degree view of the mountains and hills from this room. All rooms have balconies.
Staff:
Mr. Prangan(manager) went out of his way to make sure that our stay was memorable. The staff from front desk to kitchen to housekeeping are very accommodating and go that extra mile to make your stay a cherished experience.
Food:
This restaurant serves only veg food but its pertinent to mention that its delicious. They have options for both buffet and ala carte.

For the first few nights in Pelling and West Sikkim area, we stayed in Udaan hotel in Pelling, before moving to Elgin Mount Pandim hotel ( I felt Elgin was the best Resort in Pelling area; I reviewed it separately). The staying has pros and cons. Let's start with the merits of this hotel first. I found the staffs this hotel in Pelling are very much helpful. Particularly, all the staffs in their restaurant including Mr. Sudhir were very much courteous. View from the hotel was pleasant.
But, the hotel was located in a very much interior area. Our driver found it very difficult to locate. Internet wifi was very poor ; it never worked. The hotel staffs told it is not working. No English tv channels were available. Though we were charged for the buffet breakfast, one of the day during our stay buffet breakfast was unavailable as they have only three rooms occupied.

The most troublesome experience was booking this hotel directly by contacting the executives of Udaan group of hotels and resorts in Siliguri.
About 1 month back before our trip, we booked hotel in Pelling at a much higher price by making advance payment. The hotel booking executive told that this is the best price offered. Now, few days back before the trip while looking for hotels , we noted that same room in Udaan Clover hotel is offered at lower price in Agoda. Com.
They refused to refund the advance payment made and they would accept their booking at the price of direct booking only.
When contacted, the hotel told it is their policy.
I found this behaviour of Udaan hotel executives quite unprofessional and unfair.

One should NOT penalise a loyal customer who is booking well in advance by making an advance booking payment. When another customer could book the same room at 40-50% price ONLINE 1-2 day before.
But, I appreciate the behaviour of executives in reception and restaurant in the hotel. The pain point was their booking executives located in Siliguri .

Extremely disappointed with the service. The hotel is located 2 kms away from town and there is no place to eat nearby. This is the first two cons of the location. The road to this location is poorly lit and no proper sign boards to reach here. The road is rocky and you end up tired on reaching the place . On reaching here if you have booked a valley view all you are going o see are trees obstructing any view. The food is vegetarian and not available after 10.30 pm . After a tiring day of travel and based on the managers instructions to place room service order before 10 pm, l placed the food order for dinner before 8pm, after 1 hr again called and reminded the kitchen that I had not received my food but they were not concerned and they just said we will prepare and bring in 15 mins after 2 hrs again when I call they say they forgot and then after another half hour they bring food . I told them to take it back as I am not hungry anymore. They were absolutely least concerned about the timeliness and customer requirements This is the kind of customer service you will receive so think twice before booking this location

The ambience and the stay over here was really great. The food also was great.
But there are few points for improvement like the below;
1. The heater facility should be inclusive of the hotel charges.
2. The hot water facility needs to be improved.
3. If you wish to have dinner here, then the only option available if to select from the buffet that is available. There is no Ala Carte service provided, even though they have a food menu placed in all the rooms.
4. Room readiness can be improved prior to the guest's arrival.

Pros
1) Newly built hotel so everything is brand new. The walls floors etc are in a good state.
Good ambience. Vibrant paintings.
2) The view is good. We booked a premium room there was a balcony and a window behind bed which gave the room a good open kind of feel to it.
3) The washrooms are clean with new fixtures and fittings.

Cons
1) The room size is small. We booked a premium room still the room size was very small, with basic amenities. Check the room dimensions before booking.
2) There is no Lift !! The hotel has 4 floors and 2 basements. The restaurant is at basement 2 and then you have to climb up to the rooms. I could see old people struggling. Wouldn't recommend for old people or people with physical disabilities.
3) It is a pure vegetarian hotel (It can be a pro or a con, depends). But the veg options are limited. You wouldn't find any sikkim special options.
4) The finishing of cupboards is not so good, I even cut my hand while keeping things inside by a protruding screw. The work done is a little shabby.

I wanted to share this information. So you all can make an informed decision.

Property is good. Reaching to Hotel, 1 kms roads are very bad.

Date of Travel - 19th Nov for 2Nights

New Hotel, Good rooms

Very good restaurant and Food
Receptionist not available from 10 pm to 7 pm, sometimes find difficulty

Power backup needed as lights go often in evening.

Due to lack of staff, there is delay in services. This may be due to Covid but Neha handled it properly. She is working extra hrs to accomodate our requirements.

Overall I will suggest to visit this Hotel in Pelling.

I had similar bookings in UDAAN Gangtok and Udaan Darjeeling and my experience was good. But at Udaan Pelling it was not satisfactory. On arriving at our UDAAN Pelling we came to know there was no power and hence the water heater doesn't work on gen-sets. I received a call from reception at 10 pm informing us about complete black out (restriction on use of gen-sets after 11pm I guess) and hence they shall be providing us with candles. Further on enquiring with the reception in this issue they said "Sir this is a common issue here and so you don't have to be rude". Though such a thing didn't happen and power was restored before 11 pm, but I don't understand which hotel informs their guests to have a stay at their property with candles.?? During morning hours power is available only before 7 am after which hotel shifts to gen-sets for their power requirement and hence water heater doesn't work after 7 am. On requesting the hotel for providing hot water they denied for the same and said room guests have to use water heaters provided. How can I use a water heater if there is no power? Should I wake up at 5 am to use water heater when I am on my vacation? What kind of vacation experience shall I have.? Further there were no room slippers provided which are basic in such a property and highly required for such cool temperatures.

Hello Mam, Thank you for showing interest in us. As Udaan Hotels & Resorts is a pure vegetarian hotel chain, we do not serve nonveg cuisine at our hotel premises. & Udaan Olive Hotel & Spa does not have lift/elevator. We have another newly opened property at Pelling - "Udaan Hotel Pine Crest" , that does have elevator for your ease.
