We stayed at the Garuda Hotel after our planned booking (Hotel Mondal Residency), very rudely and callously announced that they had cancelled our booking when we arrived in Pelling. Hotel Garuda is in prime location, very easy access. Rooms are sparse, but homely. Amazing view of the Himalayas in the morning. Staff is friendly and helpful, and will help you organise tours to visit around of you so wish.
The hotel offers clean cosy rooms, with great views, plenty of hot water good food at affordable cost. The owners are very warm and hospitable. Close to the SBI. Overall satisfied . Highly recommended
We were lucky and we had a wonderful first morning with the whole Kanchenchunga in front of our room. After we had the breakfast (included) on the terrace. It was probably a 3h breakfast, we enjoyed a lot, taking photos and so on. The room is nice, cosy, wooden, it's very cold, all the area is like that. The shower wasn't working first, but they fixed it. We were on the dechen room, a suite on top with a huge balcony. The family were nice. Pelling hasn't much to see, but you can enjoy walking around and, if you're lucky, having a good view.
Visited in October 2016. Like all the hotels in Pelling, this one also has a brilliant view of the peaks. The location of this hotel is the best thing as it is bang on the taxi stand corner. The rooms are big, clean. The bathrooms though need proper maintenance. The food is nothing special. Overall, nice stay, good budget hotel.
I stayed at Hotel Garuda. I found that its location is the best. Just across the road you find lots of shops and huge options for your food though the the hotel food is also very good and the price is affordable, Rooms are clean. We could see the mountains lying on the bed but they also have beautiful terrace just beside the rooms with chairs. The management by Mr. and Mrs Wangdi is efficient and they are people of words. I can not easily forget Krishna, the kitchen manager and Govind, the service boy. I liked pelling not only because of the serene beauty of west Sikkim but also because of these people. I will definitely come back to this place in near future.
Stayed in the wonderful Dechen room (900r per night). View of Kanchendzonga from window (weather permitting). Lovely spacious wood lined room with attached bathroom (excellent shower & hot water 24/7) & cable TV. Balcony with table & chairs with the same wonderful view. The great view was a highlight. And I would highly recommend this room. Food in the restaurant was delicious but the service was a bit slow (thus a 4/5 rating).
the position of the hotel is upper pelking & its a very gd location at all. SBI ATM is jst opposite of the hotel. I think its a best location in pelling. The mountain facing rooms are provide a very very gd view. I love this hotel for this. Its a mid range hotel. So u can try this.
We were so happy to find this place for the following reasons: The entrance has a small gate which is filled with small flowers, Tibetan artifacts and unique sikkimi cuisine too! My favorite was sikkimi rice!! The feel of the whole place is conditioned with good Tibetan music and incense! The rooms are basic and starts with really reasonable price : from 600rs and onwards. The property is centrally located with tours and travel information available at the desk ! The only issue was with the availability of food items as it's dependent on local market so it might not be available when u wish to have it, so make sure you place your order in advance!
We stayed at Garuda Hotel from April 4 to April 15 2016 and enjoyed every single moment of our stay in a marvellous and cosy Dechan room with a breathtaking view on the mountains and Kanchenjunga. Our room was warm, exceptionally clean and comfortable , with hot water available 24/7. The landlord and his wife speak very good English, are friendly, and readily take their time to tell you more about local traditions and upcoming events. The hotel staff is very helpful and smiling. We particularly appreciated the local food skilfully prepared at Garuda. Our meals were always fresh and tasty and we had the opportunity to discover the local recipes such as nettle soup, tibetan bread, millet -based beer and many more. We recommend this hotel, especially the roof top room.
Location wise the hotel is too good in upper Pelling. If the weather is good one will get an awesome view of sleeping Buddha ( the snow clad peaks) from rooms. The rooms were big, clean. Bathrooms were average but the food and hospitality were memorable. The foods were freshly cooked and always served hot. Staffs were nice though a little in number. An old style hotel with a different interior. The owners Mr. & Mrs. Wangdi were very nice person and when we were leaving...gifted all of us - the traditional white Sikkimeese scarf for good luck and safe journey which touched all of us a lot. We will remember this gesture always......Thank a lot.
